Stays on NY Holidays

The house location is very nice, right by the river with lovely fire pit. The house itself s a ms smaller that on pictures. The main concern, there is no trash cans outside and since house pets friendly it is a lot of fur everywhere on the furniture. I think you need to clean it better. I got a very bad allergic reaction there due to it.

Nice place!

Really liked the location it is super close to crystal mountain. The property is a good setup for playing yard games or just hanging out by the river or fire. Only issue I had is the rental process, just felt like I didn’t know what was going on and the code I was given for the door did not work but the side door was unlocked..yikes

Perfect property for weekend for 15 adults

We stayed two nights and had 15 adults. The property is spacious even for such a large group and the kitchen is fantastic (although it took us a minute to realize it was in the basement) with a very large island that seats 10 easily. Two bathrooms meant coordinating for showers but it was fine. We just had some people shower at night and left extra time in the morning. There's also a lot of room on the back deck for visiting and eating (if the sun isn't too hot). There was easy access to kayaking but note that paddling upstream in the Betsie River is a challenge. By most reports I heard, the beds were comfortable enough, if a little short for my 6'7" brother-in-law and his 6'5" son. People seemed to sleep pretty well though. I asked around and the only suggestions guests had were a light at the top of the basement stairs so it's clearer there is a useful space down there and maybe the addition of a dumpster service so there's somewhere outside to put garbage (especially dog waste bags). Overall, though, we loved this property and I heard people say more than once they wouldn't mind booking this property again in the future.

2nd thoughts

First, the facilities were clean and the large rooms were well furnished. The bedrooms were smaller than expected though. The one thing that would consider a "2nd thought" was the amount and location of stairs. It was not understood that there were so many stairs. Also, as two couples traveling the layout did not work well for a bathroom for each couple next to their room. As a matter of fact it did not work at all. The one room big enough for laying out luggage was on the 3rd floor and the bathroom was on the 1st floor. One matching of the 2nd floor bathroom and 2nd floor bedroom was accomplished. Overall, this would not be a situation I would recommend to multiple couples traveling together or those who avoid stairs due to health or physical inabilities.

Great location, nice outdoor space

We had 2 families staying here for a ski trip to Crystal Mountain. The house was in a great location, less than 5 minutes to the mountain. The backyard along the river was really pretty and nice. The house had an interesting layout with the kitchen in the basement. There was plenty of sleeping space for all 9 of us, but the beds were terrible and could really use an upgrade. We brought 3 dogs with us and it was great to be able to do that. It’s obvious it’s a pet friendly house as the carpet was pretty stained. The listing boasts access to a shared pool/hot tub (at Crystal), but only after arrival did we discover that we didn’t actually have access. It would have been nice to know this prior to booking and that should be removed from the listing. I tried to reach out to the owner/manager multiple times prior to our trip and was never able to reach someone. I’ve honestly never had such trouble with communication on a rental before. I finally received a response to my email after we had arrived home from the trip!

Nice location

The river was wonderful! House was beautiful! Downside- All beds were very uncomfortable. There were 15 areas to sleep but the house wasn’t really big enough for 15 adults. Kitchen was downstairs.

Solid Stay in Thompsonville

My family and I are frequent visitors to northern MI and this location was up there with the best of them. The size of the backyard was perfect for kids/dogs to run around; a wonderful deck that provided wonderful dinner views; and the river, how can you beat that? The house is also stocked with everything you would need, from dishes and spices, to towels and linens. That being said, the house could use a deep cleaning. The carpets felt a bit worn and the furniture a bit musty. There were also consistent flies downstairs that we had to contend with. That aside, we would recommend this house to anyone looking to enjoy nature and the peace and quiet!

Great place to stay..floor plan is a bit different

The home was great for what we used it for which was a fishing trip with family. We were a bit confused by the layout because the kitchen is in the walkout basement. It worked, but the stairs to the basement have narrow treads so had to be careful carrying our toddler down them. The water pressure was low in both showers as well. The positives: Great location! We were able to fish right out the back door so no driving, the property is well taken care of and very clean. Short drive to town for groceries and a gas station is just a few minutes away for anything needed in a pinch. Plenty of parking for vehicles and the living room was amazing with all the sliding doors to open up and let the cooler weather breeze through.

Great Place on the River

I loved everything about this house, it is secluded, surrounded by trees, very quiet, peaceful and private, such a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Very nice place!

My husband and I rented this home with my 2 step sons and 5 grand kids. We all had a great time! So much to do in the area (for the kids as well). The house was very nice and plenty of room for 11 of us.

So my little family (husband,me,6month old,and 2 dogs) headed to the area to see family for the first time since the baby was born. Now that our family has grown we decided this is the first year to not stay with other relatives and to have everyone come to us. So we had regular visitors grandparents, aunts, siblings. Counted them all as guest for our reservations, and no price increase for the extra guest with in the max limit 👍then the location of the home was about 15 min from grandparents and about 45min from siblings another👍👍. The views from this home where show stopping for all those who visited 👍👍👍 the cabin was updated to wowza level. 👍👍👍👍. As one of the youngest in my family visiting and attempting to prove we are grown adults. This cabin hit everyone with some serious “ Cabin Life Goals” even husbands got home and was like our home is small compared to where we stayed over the week. Only a couple things to watch out for steaming devices are present however for us in the trees and rain internet was a bit lagging. And lighting a bit further from the home not as abundant so late night walks around the property with pups. Bring Flash light!!!! All in all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Will definitely book this Cabin again if we don’t buy/build one just like it.

Beautiful family-friendly cabin

Our family of 8 adults and 4 dogs stayed here over the 4th of July holiday weekend. We had a great experience and were very impressed with the beauty of the cabin. It was well-stocked and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our only issue was we had no instructions on what to do with the trash. We didn’t want to put it outside for fear of it attracting animals. The cabin was comfortable, the kitchen was beautiful and the fire pit was a nice bonus. It was great having a nice grill and roomy picnic table for all of us to enjoy on the deck. The mattresses were comfortable but could be upgraded. Our dogs loved the cabin as much as we did! Overall a great stay and we would highly recommend!

Weekend getaway

We had a great weekend here. The house had everything we needed. We spent most of our time outside by the bonfire and on the swing. This really is the perfect weekend getaway and we would come back. The manager was super helpful too, she wrote back right away. The only downside was that we couldn't find a mop, bucket, or rags to clean up small spills and this was important for us because we had a toddler with us. Other than that, it was perfect.

Great location and amenities; not much help if you have questions

The location, cleanliness, and offerings of this rental home was overall amazing! The kitchen and abundance of room is great and the place has a very "home away from home" feel. However, there were no instructions at the unit for how to use certain amenities and there was no instruction on what to do with trash during your stay nor how to check out. I called the help line to find out and it seemed that Vacasa is a bit too removed from the actual property to be able to give any detailed instructions. We had nowhere to put our trash because housekeeping only comes twice/week and there were no outside dumpsters or bins. The help line assistant couldn't give us any information on using the pellet stove or where any accelerant would be (so we could not use this amenity). There were no real instructions for how to leave the house upon check out, so that felt disorganized and undone. As I said before though,if you can get over those details - this house is cozy, has a great view, and is in close proximity to the mountain/ski resort.
