Secluded, private, gorgeous views
The property is jaw droppingly gorgeous, we loved sitting next to the waterfall with the outdoor fireplace burning. There were 12 of us and we all had ample space. We celebrated Christmas here and felt equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and loved having the game room as a place for the kids to play. Be warned that you get no phone service or wifi, which we knew going in, but we did have a few people get lost on the way and were not able to contact us so make sure you map your route. There were also only 2 small trash cans for trash and with a cabin this large it filled up quick over our stay. Overall, we would love to visit this cabin again!

Could spend forever here!
Pros; Location , one of a kind property in remote part of TN, waking up every morning was a dream! House is fully stocked with everything you need to cook and just stay there as a retreat. About an hour drive to Gatlinburg or pigeon forge. Space! Traveling with older children , each had their own room and bathroom which was perfect! Beds had comfortable linens and every room had a tv. Perfect his and her bathrooms in the master!!! Cons; no internet and phone signal is very weak. We arrived without power due to wind storm, would recommend an emergency box maybe by the front door with flashlights. Showers water pressure is low. Tried to use the jets in master tub and got covered in residue, very gross! Other recommendation would be throw blanket in the living room. Management company was fast to respond to any issues.

Great Stay but Leaks
We had a couples retreat at the Black Bear Lodge and the home was stunning. It was clean and looked exactly like the pictures on the site. The only issue we had was that there were several leak in the kitchen. We call about the leak on Friday evening and we never got anyone to come out. In fact the maintenance person called us the following Monday after we returned home. Leaks are under the sink and in the kitchen ceiling from the master bath upstairs.

Not at all what we wanted
We paid for a cabin that we did not get. We got relocated because of the snow storm which is fine nothing we can control, the snow was on Monday our trip was Friday they waited until from at 1pm to call and tell us we had to change cabins. Then they gave us a cabin that was over $900 cheaper but didn’t give us any money back.

So disappointed
we rented for 3 days, the 2nd day there was no electricity, no water, no wifi no internet so contacting was very difficult. the first time I called to report the power failure, they said they would contact me again, but I waited and still didn't see it, I called the second time, they said they didn't know or didn't hear the notification, and at that time I decided to leave this house. the weather is cold, there is snow, no electricity, no water, I have written letters and newspapers many times but the customer service department is still not interested and inquired about customers. They don't care what happens to our family. very disappointed, never come back

Wonderful!
Finding the place at first was a little hard, definitely recommend showing up while it's still light out. Once we found it, we were blown away by the house. It's so quiet and secluded. The bedrooms were great and everyone enjoyed having their own bathrooms. The beds were a little on the hard end but still pretty comfortable. Loved the steam shower in the master bath also. We had a friend(bear) come up to the house almost every night. And even with the trash being locked up on our last night he managed to break it, somehow. We got so many good pictures of him though.

Overpriced for condition
Location is remote and hard to find but our family enjoyed the seclusion. Needs turn around space for parking area. House had not been cleaned when we arrived, needs a good thourgh cleaning. Master bedroom shower leaks through the floor to the kitchen underneath!! Grill was disgusting! Resturants are a good 30 to 45 minutes away! Overpriced for the condition of the cabin and availability of resturants and activities.

Directions to cabin
We had a great time staying in the cabin. The waterfall is beautiful and the house is very big and nice. We did have a problem finding the cabin. If you get off at exit 447 off of I40, it is only about 5 miles. But, the ride the cabin is on has a sign saying “don’t follow your GPS, it is wrong”. That toad is Trail Hollow Road which is the road the cabin is on. If you turn there, you will get there very quickly. If you don’t turn there you have to go all way around to go in from the other end. They should put that in the notes for directions. we also had a small leak in the kitchen come in from upstairs somewhere. One of the tubs on the main level was holding water and wouldn’t drain. The cabin needs a thorough cleaning, It was not very clean in the kitchen pods and gadgets for spread everywhere. Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed the cabin and the waterfall very much.

Black Bear Lodge
We enjoyed our stay at Black Bear Lodge very much. It is hard to find and when people say don't follow the GPS that is correct. It is remote and the driveway up is rough. It takes about 30 min to get to Gatlinburg. But that is exactly what we wanted. The waterfall and stream are beautiful and the house was a good size. The kitchen is large enough that 6 or 7 of us were in it to make meals. The bedrooms were good, and the master is really nice. We got visited by a young bear the next day and saw him on and off (we named him Geoffrey). When you barbeque make sure you clean up well, and even then the BBQ was knocked over. There was another bear on and off too. We never felt threatened but do make sure your car doors are always locked, they can open the. The only issues we had were the lights - burned out or not appropriate light bulbs in lights and we had a hard time finding switches for some. There is no internet and satellite TV, which if it rains is gone. We were able to get cell service if you sit in strategic places around the cabin (master sliding door, steps leading up to master, parking area). Overall it was a great place to stay as long as you are ok with being so far out from town.

The property is gorgeous and one of a kind. Needs a nice deep clean and some new mattresses.
We loved our stay. The waterfall is absolutely stunning. The house is very quiet. However the drive up to the house is treacherous. We had 12 in our group. Plenty of dishes and a nicely equipt kitchen. The management company needs to send someone to clear the outside trash bins. With that many people it needs either kore bear proof trash storage or someone to come empty them once a week. I will say the management company is very responsive and polite. The beds needs to be replaced not very comfy and not all kings as promised in the write up. Over all we loved our stay just want to be sure next renter is aware of the drive way situation. You’ll need at least all wheel drive!

The home and location were absolutely beautiful but…
The home and property was beautiful! The waterfall was amazing and the rules were easy and acceptable. However, we wish there would have been WiFi or a phone line. If there was to have been an emergency, there was no service on anyone’s cellphone and the phone line and internet at the cabin did not work. The tv service also was out in a few of the rooms too. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home!

Beautiful Location
We got off to a rocky start with water leaking from the ceiling of one of the bedrooms, 2 ceiling fans not working and the front door knob not connecting. We could not call until the next morning because of the absence of cell service and the provided land line not working. But the repair man they sent out was amazing. He fixed everything and our vacation was great. We loved that we could seat the 11 of us at the large table. More tables are needed on the deck so we could comfortably eat together there. The waterfall view was wonderful and we enjoyed the property immensely. The cabin needs a deep cleaning and the floors were filthy when we arrived.

Please be aware
We recently rented this property. I will say that the property is absolutely stunning but very difficult to find. I hate to be harsh but really feel people should be made aware of the houses condition. We arrived 2 hours early which is a no no but they had not even started to clean the house. I was told by Brit that a large crew was on their way. 2 people showed up at 3 and took until almost 5 to finish. So much for Covid standards. The home is dark and I really don’t think any light bulbs had been replaced since someone’s review in Nov. 2020. As in other reviews the same towel bar fell off the wall, the ice machine is still making moldy ice, a few cabinets are missing doors and the dryer should never be left on while you are out of the house. One load had been running for quite a while and when it was checked the timer still said 99 minutes and the clothes were extremely hot. The biggest problem is the leak in the master bedrooms smaller bathroom. Water was running from the ceiling into the kitchen. We had a kitchen sink leak while there and I made sure to tell the guy about the bathroom leak. He acted as if he was already aware of it and said the ceiling needed to be ripped out to get at it. We aren’t sure if it is related but there is a strong sewage smell on the main floor. In my opinion the home needs to be removed from the VRBO site and have the necessary repairs done and a thorough cleaning. For the price of renting this home it should be in better condition.

What a great place to celebrate my retirement
Rented this for crew on the Fire Department to celebrate my retirement. Place is awesome. We spent the 4 day weekend at the house , ate all our meals there. Saw bears every night. The rear deck area with the waterfall was the highlight. Parking was tight we had 5 vehicles. We are already planning a return trip there for the next guy on the crew retirement weekend.

Beautiful, but had some issues.
The view really sold us on this property! It was certainly worth it, and is ultimately what saved our trip. The booking process was simple, however, it was followed by an oddly specific contract. I'm sure it may be necessary, but it was worrisome reading that you may relocated at their discretion, without refund if you choose not to move.. Just be sure to read all fine print and ask questions prior to booking. The first of our issues was having some family arrive before us and the home alarm was activated. We were never notified that this could be an issue and we did not realize that were sent this code in a secondary app (Hospitality), while all other information was sent directly through the VRBO app. The police were notified, and we couldn't reach the office or property manager directly. We left a message for maintenance, but I am unsure if we received a call back. I think that it would be beneficial to have a direct phone number after booking, but beware that you start to lose phone service (depending on carrier). Another issue was that this cabin is VERY difficult to find. We wanted something out of town, but the GPS took us out of our way, to this TERRIBLE one lane, gravel mountainous road. Be sure to bring a map and/or map your trip by hand BEFORE traveling, as your GPS may fail due to service, or take you to the incorrect roads. Once we finally reached our cabin, parking is fairly limited. We had just enough room for our 3 vehicles, without blocking the driveway. The cabin was very clean, and at first seemed well maintained. However, the kitchen was not "spacious" or "easy for multiple people to walk around". Some drawers were broken in the master bathroom and the towel rack in a separate bathroom fell off the wall when trying to use it. The ice machine in the mini bar was not properly maintained and contained mold, and the dryers heating element seemed to be faulty. These were minor issues, but things that I feel should be addressed. I advise bringing extra dish soap, trash bags, detergent, paper products and such, if you plan a lengthy stay. The view is really gorgeous and it was peaceful falling asleep to the sounds of the waterfall. All in all, the trip was relaxing. We will probably keep this location on our list, but will probably choose a different cabin for our next family gathering.

The pictures do not do it justice! There is a small game room with pool table & tv. The house is beautiful inside & out, cozy & welcoming. My family & I really enjoyed this home. There is no wifi & barely any cell service (sprint, t-mobile, or verizon) better service in the master room. Dont hesitate to book this home and enjoy quality time with your family!

Beautiful Family Memories
We were all stunned when we arrived. The drive up was a bit treacherous, but the home was perfect. We appreciated all of the bathrooms, and the multiple areas for people to congregate. I personally loved the waterfall, it was simply magical. There were a couple small maintenance issues (lights out, etc.), but mostly things were good. Also, the kitchen wasn’t well equipped for such a large property. I’d expected a little more. Also, no wifi or cell service. Mostly that wasn’t an issue, but when we wanted to send GPS coordinates to a family member, play music, or Google something, our phones were as good as dead. I would stay here again in an instant!! Away from the cabin farms and chaos of Gatlinburg...it suited us perfectly!
