Great place -- very clean and modern. Only complaint was that the greenery was very overgrown. But other than that, was wonderful!

The stay was nice. There was plenty of room. The weekend was fun and relaxing. We did not have to worry about anything. Enjoyed the paddle board and kayak. We would definitely stay there again.

Stunning View!
My parents, husband and 3 children under the age of 9 all enjoyed staying at this property. It had everything we needed. Downstairs is a substantial King bed suite with attached bathroom. Upstairs is a Queen bedroom, a full bathroom, a bedroom with bunk beds and a queen bed and a loft for playing games or just relaxing. The real gem of this place is the backyard which sits beautifully on the lake and a dock for the kids to jump off of and swim. The property is wonderfully private and remote. The lake is sleepy and has the best sunsets. We rented a pontoon boat and took the kids tubing and water skiing. We spent a day at Sleeping bear dunes which is a must and another day exploring Frankfort. Frankfort is an adorable little town with shopping, restaurants and ice cream and has the most beautiful beach and even more stunning sunset. Our drive was 13min to town and about 40min to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We loved our location and proximity to exploring the town and everything northern MI has to offer. We will definitely return!!

A mixed review
We had mixed feelings about our stay. The house space is fine, the rooms are large and the layout works well. There is a nice large kitchen table that does not appear in the online pics. The backyard water front was relaxing, the various water toys were fun and as others have said, the lake is quiet with little boat traffic. Our negative issues had to do with cleanliness and maintenance. We’ve shared much of this with Peter. Many kitchen things were dirty. With three families all bringing food, we took care of it ourselves not wanting to wait for someone to come and clean. While they look great in the pics, nearly every upholstered piece of furniture in the kitchen and great room was very dirty – it’s been a long time since they were cleaned. Due to well water, the inside of the washer and soap dispenser, dishwasher, showers and the shower liners were all heavily stained. The kitchen and bathroom fixtures are old and the kitchen ones leaked. The white towels used in the bathrooms were also stained yellow and some had holes in them. Not shown in the online pics is an extension to the dock which is great. Unfortunately, it's slanted and part of itis under water. The A/C unit was not working well. We told Peter on Fri. and on Sat. he said it would be replaced. We've rented homes for 12 years. We paid $806/night for this house and at that level, we don't expect problems. With proper attention to cleaning and maintenance, our issues could have easily been avoided.

Love the lake view
This is the second property we've rented from Turner Properties. We love the fact that we have a lake right in front and can kayak or canoe any time we wanted. Our biggest issue was the fruit flies. They were pretty bad this time and we did everything we could to get rid of them. Pete was very accommodating when we wanted to check in a little earlier in the day, which we appreicated. We hope to do this again in the future!

So much to do, so little time!!!
We had a GREAT time at this house on Upper Herring lake - fishing, pontooning, skiing, golfing, eating, gaming, shopping and sightseeing - so much to do! We had our "all adults" family of my wife and I, our son and his wife and our daughter and her soon-to-be fiance - and everyone loved the house and all the activities available to do around Frankfort. The weather was awesome each day (low 60's, high 70's) and we ran out of time to do all the things we had on our list of to-do's (didn't get to go biking or hiking). The house is SO comfortable and the neighborhood is extremely quiet - we ate breakfast on the back porch, played games at the dining room table, played yard games in the back yard, watched the sunset from the Adirondack chairs and just generally relaxed and enjoyed northern Michigan. Played Arcadia Bluffs golf course - words can't describe it - you need to see/play it yourself to understand just how awesome the setting is and good the golf course is - easily top 50 in the country if not better! Followed a lot of the recommendations for dining on the list of restaurants posted in the house and none disappointed - especially liked The Glenwood in Onekuma and Birch & Maple in Frankfort - GREAT dinners! Rented a pontoon from McDonald Marine and went fishing on Lake Michigan with Captain Eric Andersen. Just a great trip - before grandkids start coming along - for our six adults making lasting memories! Highly recommend this house as your home base for a trip to the Frankfort, MI area.

Awesome week
Wonderful comforitable house with all listed provisions in great condition and well stocked pantry and supplies. The owner Pete answered questions immediately and couldn't have been more accommodating. Spent most of the days at nearby Lake Michigan beaches and evenings using all the watercraft on the lake and campfires. Good combination location for inland lake and lake Michigan experiences for young grandsons. Great week to spend family time.

A peaceful, lovely place
Our family of five adults and one four-year old enjoyed this lovely home. The fishermen had fun casting from the dock. The kayaks and canoe were used multiple times. We accidentally found Crystal Mountain alpine sledding, only a short drive away, which gave our grandson his “best day ever!” Would come back.

Week away
Very nice property, and secluded. The door from the LR to porch did not line up, so it was difficult to close. Suggest that you add (for those of us who recycle) that there is recycling available in Frankfort, single stream. Folks don't NEED to go there, but good to know if people want to make the extra effort to recycle.

A Perfect Michigan Getaway
Our family of 4 adults had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property! The location is ideal - situated on quiet Upper Lake Herring and less than a 10 min. drive to a stunning, private Lake Michigan beach, and nearby to Frankfort and Beulah. The home is nicely updated with hardwood floors throughout, and is well stocked with everything from spices and plastic wrap to laundry detergent. The paddle boards and kayaks were enjoyed daily! Host Pete was very responsive & accomodating, promptly replying to all our questions. His family legacy of hospitality is evident. We visited the alpaca farm, the Gwen Frostic store, hiked the Green Point Dunes trail, enjoyed Watervale Beach at Lake Michigan, dined in Frankfort & Crystal Lake / Beulah, appreciated gorgeous sunsets every night, and were amazed by the nighttime sky - saw shooting stars / meteors almost every night! It was exactly the laid-back retreat we were looking for.

The house was absolutely wonderful! It was very private and a way to escape the crowds. Our entire family, ages 3 to 65, had a Great time! The kayaks, canoe, and fire pit were big hits. There were plenty of lifejackets for safety. We would happily rent this house again!

Great family vacation rental. Loved the location on the lake and close to Frankfort and Lake Michigan beaches. Canoe n kayaks n paddleboards added to the fun! Great family space to share stories of the day, to share meals and share indoor family fun. Our grandchildren (and adults too) gave our vacation week at Upper Herring lake two thumbs up! A wonderfully relaxing place to stay. It is very quiet and the lake is beautiful. The kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards kept us busy. Good location for taking road trips in the area. We visited Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Point Betsie Lighthouse and many of the towns in between. We travelled with 6 people and had plenty of space for everyone.

This property exceeded expectations. Very well equipped inside and out. 4 kayaks, 2 paddleboards, & 2 canoes! Seating everywhere! Kitchen was fully stocked...more spices than I have at my home! Location is perfect. On a quiet road minutes from lots of fun places to explore. This was the perfect trip before my oldest heads to college. We had no idea how amazing Michigan would be.

Awesome Lake House Getaway
We had a wonderful stay. The lake was beautiful and the private beach nearby mentioned in the listing was also a must see. There were awesome sunsets at both. The house had kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards with all the life jackets you need. It was so easy to just hop on the lake without a worry. They even had a child size kayak, and my son had a great time with that. The appliances worked great including the washer, dryer, and grill. The kitchen was well equipped. There was even firewood available for a night. The street was safe and quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Frankfort beach was wonderful along with the shops and restaurants there. Sleeping Bear Dunes and Cotton Creek Alpaca Farm were awesome excursions. We even saw two bald eagles over the lake along with other wildlife. The owner was available and easy to communicate with. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you to Peter for sharing this home with us.

Amazing place to stay in.
This was a nice place. A nice sized bedroom downstairs , one nice sized upstairs and another upstairs, with bunk beds with another in the same room. It was plenty of room for four people. If you had more people there were more places to sleep for kids. I enjoyed the kayaking. It was great not having to bring your own or renting them someplace else. Everything you needed was there that you would need to relax. Plenty of hiking trails around. Be sure to check out The Manitou Restaurant. It was excellent. Make reservations. I could have stayed here later August through mid September. A paradise for sure.

Great alternative to Maine
It was beautiful! I loved the pictures in the Vrbo ad for this property and the real thing lived up to it. Our family has a 50+ year tradition of spending our summers in Maine but the Covid situation made that impossible for 2020. I was looking for a nice property near a large body of water. This rental is on beautiful Upper Herring Lake and Lake Michigan is only 5 minutes away. Lots of sleeping areas, 2 full baths, nice kitchen and kayaks / canoe on premises. Very peaceful at night for our nightly campfires. We would definitely stay here again. Also, Pete is a great owner and very helpful.
