Little Paradise

Loved the quiet beach front and it’s set up. Definitely one of our favorite places we’ve stayed. We are usually always on the move when traveling but we were so content to just hang out here. We loved our morning breakfast on the balcony, snorkeling, kayaking, sunbathing and siestas in the hammocks. In the evenings we’d drive into Tulum for dinner and a little shopping. Luis was so helpful and does such a great job. We’d love to come again and bring the family.

Sweet and quiet casita

Right on the bay with everything you need. We enjoyed snorkeling (kayaks and equipment provided) and swimming right off the shore. Luis was very helpful and easy to reach. For a small fee he even got groceries for us. The room itself was clean and had everything you could need with the minor exception that only soap was provided in the bathroom so bring shampoo, lotions, etc. Great stay!

Wonderful property steps from the beach

The villa was truly a lovely find and the grounds were well maintained throughout. Luis, the property manager, was extremely helpful -- even waiting up for us when we arrived at 1:00 am after an air travel delay. We stayed in a second floor studio with a kitchen and lovely little balcony. Great breezes through the many windows enveloping the space. Lounge chairs, hammocks, kayaks, and snorkeling gear are available for free for guests at the beach and the small pool provides a nice opportunity to cool off. Would highly recommend renting a car to see the cenotes and ruins, and because there are limited dining options nearby. Suggest stocking up on groceries at the Selecto Chedraui in Tulum (about 15 minutes by car) at the start of your stay. The only downside was the excessive seaweed that is a pervasive issue for many beaches in the area and out of the control of the villa owners.

Casa playa maya unit 2

Lovely tiny casita near the beach, on the 2nd floor, just behind a larger house that is right on the beach. This little unit has screened windows on all 4 sides and feels like a jungle treehouse. Great ventilation and no need for A/C. Louis could not have been a more accommodating caretaker, and really added to our enjoyment of the property. He stocked our casita with food and drink before we arrived, and supplied us with snorkel equipment, and even a hat since my husband forgot his! The casita, beachfront, walkways, are all impeccably clean. If you do not have a car, there are two accessible restaurants, and Louis can help with arranging a taxi for further outings. We did a bird tour with Mexico Kan Tours. Miguel with Amor Aves was a phenomenal guide. Our short stay at Casa Playa Maya was perfect.

Romantic and Tranquil

We had a wonderful visit to Casa Playa Maya! The Casita was perfect for us and we loved having the windows open while the sea breeze flowed through! Luis and family were very kind. The kitchen had everything we needed, we just wish the refrigerator was quieter... Soliman Bay is lovely, we will visit again when there is hopefully no seaweed! The location is close to so many cool Cenotes. The nearby restaurant Oscar & Lalo is delicious! We hope to come back with our whole family next time.

Most amazing host and private beach!

The best experience with a host family we have ever experienced. Luiz and his family helped us for every single one of our needs. The casitas are perfect and clean, and the private beach is in a calm cove with small waves. Just overall 10/10 experience. Highly recommend! If you want a private get away this is your place.

A little slice of heaven

This was our second stay at Casa Playa Maya, and it did not disappoint. We have really come to love the area. It was wonderful to reconnect with Luis and Anabel, the on-site property managers. Anabel even cooked us dinner one night which was wonderful. This is the perfect place for someone who is looking for a quiet getaway, not a busy beach with lots of activities. Those are just a short car ride away. We will be back again!

Wonderful... with construction noise

My husband and I look forward to this vacation every year. Unfortunately, house not completed so quite noisy first two days; time difference sure didn't help. Louis and Annabel always amazing! Even met a couple from a few years back. I always reluctantly leave a review because I like our solitude. Will still return:) Snorkeling is bar none!!!

Not the “advertised” size!

There are 248 square feet not the 500 square feet listed. There is no “stocked” refrigerator. The unit is small and we felt very cramped. It is behind another large unit so views were nonexistent. Waste of money. Needs to be more truthful. The only plus is Louis and Annabel were very nice and helpful.

Quiet, Peaceful and Serene

We stayed seven nights in Casita 2, located upstairs and just steps from the beach next to the pool. The Casita was clean and in very good shape with all amenities we needed. Luis and Annabel are wonderful hosts. We had reached out prior to our arrival and they had our kitchen stocked with our requests. They are also a wealth of information on local attractions and things to do. I would recommend a car as it is in a remote location. The beach is very beautiful and the neighborhood very quiet and safe. We would certainly like to return in the near future.

Wonderful stay!

The grounds are private, clean, well-maintained, and peaceful with birds singing! The private beach is right there at your footsteps! The pool area is beautiful and relaxing. My husband and I took a kayak out to kayak the bay and snorkel the reef and it was awesome! The whole bay was so private. We felt many times as if we were the only ones on the beach or in the ocean. There is a security guard at the end of the road as you enter the property for added security. This place is about a ten minute drive outside the pueblo of Tulum, which we really enjoyed as it was quiet and relaxing. Sitting on the beach at night in the lounge chairs was really nice. We happened to visit during a full moon, and it lit up the whole bay. The AC and fan in the casita keep it cool, but you can also open the windows for a nice breeze. The palapa-covered balcony is perfect for outdoor dining. We enjoyed having a kitchen stocked with dishes, etc. We visited a supermarket ten minutes away in Tulum for groceries. Luis and Anibel, the property caretakers, live on-site and are truly amazing! They are great assets to this property. They are so kind and really just make this place special! Luis was always making sure everything was going well and anytime we needed anything he was right there to help. Truly an amazing person! Thank you to Wendy and Ashley, and a special thank you to Luis and Anibel for all that you do! My husband and I hope to return!

Absolutely wonderful - exceeded our expectations!!

I hesitate to write a review for Casa Playa Maya as it was so wonderful I selfishly want to keep it to myself. My husband and I stayed a week and had the most relaxing time. Daily walks on the beach, snorkeling, paddle boarding and lots of down time. Exactly what we were looking for!! We arrived to a lovely dinner of mixed fajitas, guacamole, pico and the best flan I have ever had, made by Anabel. The flan was large enough to enjoy for a few nights!! Luis and Anabel are very warm, inviting and constantly checking to see that everything was ok and if we needed anything. There was a nice welcome packet explaining the area and what was available. It was great as we had never been to Tulum before and the information was helpful. As we didn’t have a car, Luis was kind enough to set up a taxi (his friend Valentene) to take us to the grocery store. This was so helpful as he took us to find specialty items as well and made multiple stops. In addition, Luis set up massages on the beach for us. They were wonderful and the only complaint was that they weren’t long enough. I would highly suggest at least a 90min to fully relax. The girls did a great job in getting out the knots in all the muscles. As far as the property – it exceeded our expectations! Comfortable and had everything we needed. It was very well kept and beautiful. We spent every day on the beach. One note is that it can get quite breezy/windy at times on the beach. During that time I would sit by the pool where the wind was blocked. The beach was never crowded and the sand was very soft until walking to the points. Then I would suggest some good water shoes to walk on the rocks. With the protected bay you could walk out quite a ways toward the reef or take the canoe all the way out. The balcony was a perfect spot to sit and relax as well. The A/C worked well for when we needed a break from the heat. At night with all the windows there was a great cross breeze. We really enjoyed waking up to the birds singing/talking in the morning. The kitchen was set up well with the basics to get you going. We also asked to have some main items stocked in the fridge prior to our arrival which is a wonderful service and I highly recommend taking advantage of it. We ate all meals in except going down the beach for Ceviche one day. The only downfall of our time there was that we had to leave!

Wonderful stay!!!

My husband and i stayed here on our honeymoon, after getting married in Akumal just before. The villa was absolutely perfect! I would totally recommend the unit we stayed in, second floor, amazing vaulted brick ceiling, the deck was perfect for breakfast and our evening drinks and dinner, kitchen had everything we needed. Also a few quick steps and your on the beach. This house and location is everything I love and look for when traveling, a little off the beaten path, not crowded (at all!), and a stunning beach. I love to snorkel, and this location was ideal. The bay is well sheltered from the elements. We could snorkel right from shore and see plenty, but daily we would paddle out to the mourning buoy where the reef had a array of fish and creatures! I have been a lot of places and it was equally as exciting to some of my favorite beaches in Indonesia, virgin islands and Puerto Rico. We saw lobster, turtle, eel, sting ray, spotted eagle ray, baracuda, and so many other awesome fish!!!! In the morning when the water was glass you should take the paddle board out and you can see clear to the bottom, i would see fish, turtle, sting ray, and even a huge baracuda clear as if I had my mask on, it was really cool! We ate in almost every meal, but we did get caviche at Chimicos at the end of the bay, they are open til about 5pm, I would highly recommend it. Also Bob's market has a really good selection of food, beer, ice cream and other stuff, it's within walking distance. The caretakers are also worth a solid shout out, they were wonderful! We hope to be back in the future!!!

Beautiful beach

My husband and I spent the week here and had a wonderful time! There are a few things I wish I had known before booking this place, however, but for some they may not be an issue/concern (see below). The studio was clean and what we expected. Kitchen had any appliances we needed and there was always plenty of drinking water. The beach here is the real attraction, we were lucky enough to have a few days without any other people so we had the space to ourselves. Snorkeling was awesome and every evening we would see so many sea turtle heads bobbing up. Casa Playa Maya is about 5 min walk away from Jashita Hotel (had a delicious breakfast!) and a small convenience store that we went to a few times to get beer. Also about a 15 min walk down the beach to a seafood spot called Chamico's which was delicious. We didn't rent a car so Luis was very helpful and called taxis for us several times. We even had a taxi for the day to take us to Coba to see the ruins and take us to a cenote which was a lot of fun! Things I wish I had known before booking: -There is no hot water, it was quite a shock when we realized this but managed to do the world's quickest showers every night. -It is about a 20-30 minute taxi to Downtown Tulum which cost about $250 pesos. -To the hotel zone (we went a couple times for dinner) it was about 30-45min ride and cost more, about $350 pesos -We used the collectivos (shared taxi vans) a few mornings when we wanted to go get breakfast Downtown Tulum. They were about $50-60 pesos, waited about 10min at the main road by Oscar and Lalo to flag one down

Clean, cozy beach bungalow

I stayed here with my young son on a boys vacation. This is a self-contained studio apartment just a few steps from the beach. It's part of a larger complex (5 units in all I think), but the layout is such where it still felt private. Luis and Anabel (caretakers) are very nice and helpful, and overall the place is great for a lazy beach getaway.

Wonderful solitude and warm hospitality

Ana and Luis could not have done more to make me comfortable. They were attentive and genuinely kind and welcoming. They did their best each day to be certain that each guest had everything that they needed. Luis found a tire pump for my old bicycle tires that would not hold air, and dutifully filled them each day. He called a taxi for me when asked, and Ana took me to town in her car to save me the hassle. The property is spotless and comfortable. The beach is beautiful and the location could not be more lovely. A place to return to and to recommend without hesitation! Thank you Luis and Ana!

Perfect

There is one main house, and four casitas on the property (much like 2 separate 2-flats). I stayed in the upper level casita directly behind the main house. I had a conference in Playa Del Carmen, and after my conference, I drove to Casa Playa Maya and stayed two nights. Beach was perfect and the property caretakers are incredibly friendly. I only regret that they did not have more availability beyond the 2 nights I was able to stay there. After my time there, I stayed at a different location in Tankah bay, which is the next bay south of Solimon Bay, where this Casita is located. Tankah was terribly disappointing as it was way too rocky to swim. Solimon, however, has a nice, sandy beach, has great sandy areas to swim in, and has plenty of rocky outcroppings to make for excellent snorkeling. I would recommend taking one of the kayaks out to the reef. Its a short 5-10 minute paddle out to the reef, which is directly in front of the casita. You'll see a buoy out there, but I simply dropped anchor once I got near the reef as there were a couple of other kayaks tied up to the buoy. The kayaks come equipped with great little anchors. You can also use one of their life jackets. Snorkeling was fabulous at the reef. This is a very quiet beach, and very well kept. I can't say enough great things about this place. It was just perfect. I didn't see a bug or mosquito the entire time I was there. Casita was spotless and it felt very private. A/C worked great at night. Casita is literally about 20 steps to the sand. Amazing place.

AWESOME SPOT ON SOLIMAN BAY!!!!!!!!!

Great, great little studio casita on Soliman Bay just north of Tulum's beachfront and downtown. The casita (queen bed, full bath, couch, fridge, stove, outdoor patio) is ideal for one person or a couple. Courtyard amongst all the rentals gives you a small pool, hot tub, a BBQ grill, some sitting space, and the walkway leads right to the beach---which is really, really beautiful. The beach is very quiet, clean (raked daily of any oceanic seaweed deposits), and the bay is aqua green/blue, warm, and gorgeous. Great snorkeling conditions out there, and if you need to change things up, there are kayaks and paddle boards available for your use. On-site property managers Luis and Anabel were total sweethearts and very helpful with pro/con suggestions with nearby attractions (side note: You MUST visit at least one cenote during your visit. They're everywhere, and most are perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving). I'd repeat this trip again, without question, and I'd happily stay at Casa Playa Maya. Big thumbs up to these guys! Thanks so much for your hospitality!!

We really want to share this amazing location with others and make memorable holidays and memories. Casa Playa Maya is located in pristine Bahia Soliman. It's a beautiful private beach in a protected bay. Unlike busy Tulum beach, our location is quiet with a beautiful sandy beach.

Entering the north end of Tulum Beach in town now comes with a fee for visitors.

When you rent with us your private beach is included...no need to pay to visit a busy commercialize beach. Just a few steps to the sandy beach, you can slide into your snorkel gear and experience amazing sealife. Jump into a kayak or onto a paddleboard and explore this calm turquoise bay. Its amazingly beautiful. All gear is included.

There are 2 restaurants on the bay and Tulum is only 15 minutes away if you want more shopping and restaurants.

We want our guests to come away feeling like they have truly had a vacation in a tropical paradise.

Why they chose this property

Soliman Bay remains the best kept secret on the Riviera Maya and we feel blessed to have discovered it.

What makes this property unique

This is the polar opposite of an all inclusive resort. There are no crowds, but Tulum is close enough for some night life, great award-winning restaurants, mayan ruins and other attractions. Soliman Bay hosts only 48 properties and sits on the 2nd largest reef in the world. The beach and water have lovely white sand, the water is warm and aquamarine. Because the bay is uncrowded, guests can expect to see lots of sea life like sea turtles, rays, tropical fish, crayfish and more. Our community operates the Bahai-Soliman Turtle Protection Program and we hatch over 3000 baby turtles on the bay each year and it's climbing. These are only a few special things...the rest are you...when you visit.
