Home away from home

This is the 3rd or 4th time we’ve stayed with Fred in Aloha/Beaverton. We are always welcomed and treated like family. We stay here when we come to visit our family in Oregon. This small cottage has everything we need and is close to everywhere we need to go while visiting. Thank you for your continued hospitality!

Great for a quick trip

Great place if you’re out and about a lot. The bathroom is a tight setup for a bigger person so just watch out for that. Best thing about it is the food trucks next door. Theres no washer or dryer but there’s laundromats right across the street

Family Festivities in Oregon

We have stayed here before and have always been treated like family. We have kids and grandkids in Beaverton, and when we come to visit, this cozy cottage is close to everything we get together to experience around town. It’s become our home away from home in the Pacific Northwest! Thank you for fantastic hospitality!😁

Stay here if you want to be happy!

The owners of this location are hands down some of the best people I have interacted with on a business level. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. Their communication was better than I expected! I will be staying here again and I recommend you do too!

Oregon visit to my dream job.

I was going to rent a hotel room and didn’t want to stay there so when I got a hold of the manager of this Vrbo property, they were able to move my check in date up to that very day and I didn’t have to stay at the hotel with my family. I was very happy for the accommodation and got really good sleep.

Our girls get away

We did loose power and the owner thought it was due to having to many heaters running however that was not the issue. It was resolved immediately. The pro’s is that this establishment is close to food trucks and local stores. It is very clean. The cons however are that the beds sit very low. To low. I had an older person with us that struggled a bit. Also, it says it sleeps six but you get charged per person after the first guest. The price per night is great but all the additional charges is not worth it for this place. I have stayed directly on the beach and paid less. However if money isn’t a factor and you don’t care your right off a Hwy and want to be in town this would be the place.

Cozy, comfortable cottage.

We booked this for our last stay in Portland before going back to Germany. Fred and his wife were very understanding for our situation. Good communication, well equipped kitchen, only the bath is a little tiny (however it worked). Thanks for hosting us.

Very clean and cozy!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property was clean and cozy and the owners were very helpful. We didn’t expect the house to be so close to TV Hwy (2 blocks away) but didn’t notice the proximity once inside. There were a couple of parks nearby that were great for our son and dog.

Not what we were expecting!

This is a very nice and clean little place. Pros: clean, centrally located to shopping and sights, nice neighborhood. Cons: tight parking, cameras watching you at front & back doors, sirens day & night from ambulances behind property, charged for a service dog (reported to proper authorities), felt like a kid being reminded about house rules and check out time constantly, very tight parking even though there is plenty of room for multiple vehicles, second small garage rental just off the back door. Very small and tight bathroom. Overall: We will never stay here again! Just not worth the price for no privacy, space, peace & quiet, or room!

Thank you

We highly recommend this cute little oasis. We recently moved from Anchorage (AK) to Portland (OR) and needed temporary housing. This little house was perfect for the three of us plus our miniature schnauzer. The house was extremely clean and had plenty of room for the three of us. Our hosts were so accommodating and allowed us to park 2 cars in the driveway. They gave us recommendations on what areas to look for houses as well as schools. We highly recommend this cute little house.

A relaxing stay in a cozy bungalow

We stayed here for two weeks while self-isolating after a move. The bungalow was cozy and well maintained. The five of us (my wife and I, our two young children, and our cat) didn't feel cramped at all in the space. We enjoyed the large number of nearby parks and the food-cart pod across the street from the listing.

Great little cottage

These folks are so nice, we felt as though we were staying with family. The cottage was perfect for us, and several of the nights we were here, our granddaughters came to stay with us. Such great hospitality and knowledge of the places to visit in and around Portland. Such a lovely family with a superb, affordable, and convenient little vacation stay. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you so much!

About the host

Host profile image
On 2015 my wife and I were a typical young couple busy pursuing to be on the top of our careers. But deep inside us; we have this yearning to travel around the world and just experience it while we are still young and while kids are still with us. Waiting till our retirement age and waiting till our kids long gone seems to be the wrong picture in our minds. But this was an IMPOSSIBLE DREAM!
On summer of 2016 we took the risk of hitting the "pause button" of our lives to escape the "rat race" and pursue our dream. We sold our 5 bedroom 5k sqt ft house with all our stuffs (junks) and quit our jobs, we purchased a class A RV, we put our kids into home school, and my wife found remote job at that time, I started seasonal contracting gigs, so we can continue to support our plan. With a 40 ft class A RV and an SUV in tow, with a little savings, downsized stuffs, debt free and a commitment to live simply and experience deeply each other to our journey; we hit the open road!

Couple of years into it we finally see all 48 lower states. We seen countless national parks, national monuments, state parks, museums, historical places, west coast to east coast and experiencing diverse local lives along with it.

At the beginning of 2020 and when the covid19 pandemic happened, we decided to come back to our home state (Oregon). We rented this property to hunker down and avoid the threat of the virus. But we decided to enter the 'short-term-rental" business to continue to support our travels. We love meeting people from all over the world of different backgrounds so why not "host them".

Although we have seen and well travelled all over the United States, we still consider Beaverton, Oregon our home. My wife and I been living in Beaverton for 20 years and you can consider us your travel-tips resource.
