About this property
Beachfront Adventure + Comfort!
Our 2-story Beachfront Cabana is nestled under swaying coconut trees. Two bedrooms, each with air conditioning, a shared bathroom, a spacious balcony and hammocks. Heaven! Ground level has a spacious and breezy social area with pool table, wet bar, large kitchen with mid-size refrigerator and large grill with side burner. All of the necessary cooking and eating items are included, so just bring some food or buy local in Mechapa - freshest fish you can find! Located in a small hotel, if you don't want to cook you can always order in from the hotel restaurant. Surf board rental, boogie boards, fresh fish...great for couples who want a spacious holiday home or families who want to spread out yet stay together.
We are ideally located directly on the beach, at the base of Volcano Cosiguina and the tip of Central America's largest estuary, Estero Padre Ramos. You can fish, swim, surf, hike....every day can be different - and then return to all of the creature comforts you expect and desire. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended in order to drive our amazing 27 km long beach and explore Punta Nata, the Estero, Volcan Cosiguina, Potosi, Jiquilillo, and maybe venture down to Aposentillo/Asseradores or Chinandega for a day trip! We are just one hour from Chinandega so it's an easy drive on "mostly" paved roads - there is a 5 km stretch outside of Mechapa that is unpaved but pretty smooth. In fact, that's what makes our place super special....Go to the end of the road, and keep driving.
Compared to other rental houses, The Owner's House is also special because the village of Mechapa is right at the end of our long driveway. Here, you can buy pretty much anything you might need for an extended stay. Also, you can buy the fish right off of the local fishermen's boats and cook it up yourself. It's a quiet place, so if you are looking to jump around to different overpriced restaurants and be overcrowded by tourists or locals - this is NOT the place for you. Quiet, peaceful, but still lots of fun to be had all around you.

About the host
Your host

We moved to the sleepy fishing village named Mechapa in 2006. A lot has changed since then, but some things have stayed the same - fresh fish, a laid-back beach vibe and a safe, fun place to explore the surf spots and check some adventure tours off your list. We loved it back then, and still do. The roads are better, we have internet now (wow!) and still try to give our guests a unique Mechapa experience.
Why they chose this property
We originally chose Mechapa in 2006 because it was totally off the beaten path - there wasn't a path at all, actually! Luckily, the fishing village is still pulling in it's nightly haul, the pigs are happy and fat, and the beach hasn't gotten crowded at all. Happiness all around.
What makes this property unique
The cabana is located within a nice 20 acre lot right on the beach with lots of green space all around, so even though you can walk to town, you still feel like you're the only people nearby. It's nice, quiet and safe.
