Town: This charming, rural village is surrounded by the Monadhliath and Grampian Mountain ranges and there is plenty of scope to explore the surroundings and maybe glimpse some of the amazing wildlife that lives in the area. TV's "Monarch of the Glen" was filmed around this location and Laggan was featured in the programme. Newtonmore is only eight miles away and overlooks the River Spey in the Cairngorms National Park. There are several shops and public houses and two award winning museums. Laggan's Wolftrax Mountain Bike Centre is close by and other outdoor activities available are pony trekking, walking, climbing, and bird watching. There is plenty to do in the area and Laggan makes a great base to see this part of Scotland.
