My wife, our 2 year old and two dogs spent a wonderful week at this cabin. The cabin provided us a perfect location where we had lots of privacy and a beautiful setting to hang out and enjoy being a family. We fished, took long walks in the national forest, and had campfires. It was perfect. We definitely would love to come back in the future.

Once again another great visit! This was our second year staying here in a row and our family absolutely loves this property. It's such a cozy house and the lake is the quietest we have ever stayed on. We look forward to many more summers here!
If you’re looking for a quiet peaceful rental to get away, you can’t go wrong here. The property has everything you would need for a WI north-woods vacation. The lake is gorgeous, has plenty of fish and is as quiet as can be. We really enjoyed our stay here.
This is our second year renting the Mitten Lake Hideaway. My husband and I have been coming up to Lac du Flambeau on vacation for 20 years and will continue this tradition going forward. The cabin location and amenities are exactly what we look for in our rental for our family (my husband, our 13 year old son, our 12 year old dog, and myself). The atmosphere is beautiful and calming. My husband and son did some fishing on the lake as I enjoyed reading on the dock. We love the patio space and spend a lot of time out there playing games, having campfires, and grilling out. If it is available we will definitely rent Mitten Lake Hideaway again!
Exactly what we were looking for! Quiet seclusion in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Fantastic, clean, comfortable, and well stocked cabin. Beautiful setting on a very quiet lake. Great for kayaking…no fast motor boats here! We highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful escape.
Our family had a wonderful week's stay at this amazing property. Lake was great for fishing and the area is just beautiful. We saw eagles, deer, turtles and even bear cubs! The cabin was fantastic and my 7yo son enjoyed sleeping up in the loft above us. Kitchen was well equipped and the grill was a great addition. Fantastic sunrises as well. I would recommend to anyone looking to get away and still have the comforts of home. 5/5
This was our first stay at this property but our 19th trip as a couple to the area, 13th trip with our son, and 12th trip with our dog. We enjoyed the relaxation this property provided and already booked to stay again next summer. It was a perfect up north vacation for our family! Our week consisted of starting the day watching the sunrise over the lake on the dock and ending the days on the patio playing games with a campfire. We filled the days in between with kayaking the lake, fishing from the dock and the row boat, enjoying grilled meals on the patio, spending a little time in Minocqua, and taking in the beauty of nature at the property. We saw bald eagles by the lake, hummingbirds in the landscape by the cabin, deer on the drive in, an otter in the lake, and many other animals and birds!
The Hideaway literally lives up to its name. It took a couple of calls to the property management company to help us find the Hideaway. If seclusion is what one is looking for, then this is your place!
We really enjoyed the beautiful, picturesque, peaceful lakeside setting. The property included a row boat which is great. The “cabin” has everything one would ever need for a comfortable stay including new appliances and well equipped kitchen.
On the negative side, mice were an issue. A trap took at least a couple out of action. A $135.00 cleaning charge is assessed to the stay. It has been quite awhile since the floor around the toilet has been cleaned….. I cleaned this myself. The landscaped area around the “cabin” has been unkept and overgrown and had to restrain my wife from pulling weeds. The siding door window and screen needs attention.
Perhaps our expectations are unreasonable. I have worked for a property management company and our the standards for maintenance and housekeeping were apparently higher. To be honest, we are undecided if we will return.
The property was perfect for us. The canopied path on the way in sets up the secluded cottage. It's very peaceful with the only visitors being wildlife.
My wife and I wanted a quiet getaway for our wedding anniversary, and this rental did not disappoint! We were at the end of a gravel road, overlooking tranquil Mitten Lake. The house/cottage was clean had much-appreciated amenities like clean linens, dishes, stove, refrigerator, etc. Part of the charm was being able to cook a meal together at the house and sit outside to eat on the patio while we listened to the birds and the wind in the trees. One thing we noticed was there was no traffic or highway noise, and when we walked down to the dock on the lake to stargaze at night, there was very little light pollution. We loved the view day and night, and I enjoyed kayaking on the lake, while the fireplace in the living room added great atmosphere to an inviting home. The many windows facing the lake offered many opportunities to see the water, and we liked that the house was built into the side of a hill.
We also enjoyed the trails in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest as well as walking around in Minocqua and Boulder Junction.
Very relaxing--thank you!
My family and I absolutely lived staying here. It was the most quiet peaceful time i have ever spent up north. This house is so well taken care of and the property is perfect inside and out. I have no complaints about our stay!
