About this property

This Country Cottage is situated in a quiet and beautiful wooded area southeast of downtown Kansas City. It is on one level, has key-less access and private parking. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a sofa sleeper in the living area to comfortably sleep 6. Guests will enjoy a full, well-equipped kitchen, laundry room, and outdoor living space. With an open layout it has a spacious and welcoming feel. The large master bedroom has a king-size bed, 2 closets, and master bath with a shower and jetted tub, as well as 2 sinks. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, a desk and closet, and access to the second bathroom, which has a shower. There is also access to the second bathroom from the hall. Both bathrooms are large and have large counters and mirrors and lots of storage.

The Cottage is separated from the residence of the owners by a 3-car garage. There are no additional homes on the property.

The Cottage

We had an amazing stay at the cottage. We were in the area for a youth softball tournament. This location is very peaceful and private. It’s a great change of pace from city and traffic which we thoroughly enjoyed. The space is large enough for everyone to spread out and relax. We enjoyed sitting on the wrap around porch. The hosts thought of all things needed. We would love to stay here again!

Charming

It was perfection. Very clean, peaceful, and charming. A lot of natural light and very comfortable. The vibe is good. The hosts were always available for communication. You can feel the love and joy emanate from the property and the cottage. My 8 year old granddaughter loved visiting the horses and found a four leaf clover that she’s “been waiting her entire life to find.” My one year old granddaughter felt most comfortable in the sweet little wooden rocker. She would smile her toothless smile from ear to ear when she sat on it. It’s apparent, that rocker belonged to and was loved by someone very special. Kids know these things. Memories made there, past present and future. The property, the cottage and the Goodmans are a blessing.

A Wonderful Surprise

The home was absolutely amazing! And the hosts were also. It’s nestled in the woods a top of a hill. We sat on the porch while drinking coffee and listened to Mother Nature sing her song. It’s located within 30 minutes of anywhere. In the country, but just a hop, skip and a jump to town. Very well kept, with everything you would need, just unpack and enjoy. When we need to visit the area, this will always be my family’s first choice!

Lovely Country Cottage!

2nd visit here even better than 1st

We love the Property. Perfect for small family gatherings like our Thanksgiving Dinner with the kids. The house always feels like home when we walk in the door. The hosts are lovely and will go above and beyond to make the stay perfect. This year, on the day of our departure, we had a couple of inches of snow on the ground, and I found the host had scrapped the gravel road on the hillside by hand to make it safer, as well as the front stoop then continued to brush our vehicle off from the snow on the windows.

A little slice of comfort

This home is exactly as promised! It was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. It truly felt more like being home than in a vacation rental. The house is nestled in an area surrounded by trees and is very quiet. We could see the stars at night without the intrusion of city lights and saw deer on the property every evening when we came home. The owners have taken the vacation rental experience to a new high and we appreciate their kindness. We would absolutely return if we were in the Kansas City area again. Family Weekend

My husband and I stayed at the Country Cottage with our daughter and her family for the weekend. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Everything was super clean and well stocked with whatever you could need. Very quiet and peaceful location. We enjoyed our stay. The Goodmans, the owners were very helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend!!

Relaxing and enjoyable

So comfortable, it felt like being at home. Hosts, Lesli and Gordon, do a remarkable job. The cottage is beautifully decorated, sparkling clean and extremely inviting. We will definitely be back for a return visit if we are ever in the greater KC area.

This Country Cottage

WOW! 5 stars all the way around. More than we anticipated. Home was secluded but not inconveniently located; relatively quick access to highways. Property was absolutely lovely and so well appointed - from decorations to accessories, to the thick soft towels, to extra blankets. Living area and master are HUGE. Wrap around porch, responsive friendly hosts - all you could want in a VRBO. We would certainly book again!.

Relaxing Space Outside the Busy-ness of the Metro Area

This was our second time to stay at This Country Cottage and we’ll certainly plan to stay again. This time we came up for a granddaughter’s graduation and to visit with family and friends. The cottage was a peaceful oasis after busy days. We were able to have the grands visit with us one day, and the youngest was delighted to be able to choose one of the many board games available to guests. The 11 year old grandson and I explored down the gravel road and even saw a box turtle! This visit my husband and I were able to meet Lesli and Gordon and put faces with the friendly communications, as well as the care and effort that have gone into making the Cottage such a cozy and comfortable retreat for visitors to the area. We definitely recommend This Country Cottage to anyone looking for accommodations that are more than just an impersonal room along a busy thoroughfare.

Perfect cottage for family visit

This site was by far the nicest of the (>20) VRBOs we have stayed in. The home was charming and very comfortable. We slept great- very quiet property, mattresses were very comfortable, with high quality pillows and bedding. And oh my gosh, lots of thick plushy towels.The kitchen was well-equipped, and we didn't have to run out to buy any basic supplies like paper products or dishwasher pods. Washer and dryer made the stay very convenient. Gordon and Leslie were very helpful and friendly, but not intrusive. What a beautiful property! We would definitely stay there again when we come to visit local family.

A hidden country gem!

From the moment I opened the door I knew I'd chosen well. The charm & the freshly baked cookies on the kitchen counter, everything was so neat and tidy. Large spacious kitchen, dining & living room area made it the perfect gathering spot for visiting relatives. Loved the separate laundry room & a nice well equipped kitchen. The wrap around portch was lovely as well to sit & visit on. The bedrooms were spaceous & beds comfy. Large bathrooms were a plus for older folks. Everything was so clean, we just loved it & will come back again!!

Family Thanksgiving

Three generations of my family, from three different cities (St. Louis, Kansas City, and Wichita), all with small apartments, gathered in this perfect home for a wonderful Thanksgiving. Great for some offline quality time

This is a great place to break out puzzles, board games, or otherwise enjoy a quiet weekend. We kept plenty warm, and the jet tub was fantastic! The internet connection reinforces a quiet country experience. Email and basic browsing work OK, but be ready to relax because you won't be participating in any online meetings (or streaming media). While it sits on some gorgeous property surrounded by nature and wild life, especially given its attachment to the owners primary residence, the cottage needs better window coverings. The owners are extremely nice and eager to accomodate, but being able to close proper courtains would have significantly improved our ability to relax.

Country cottage in rural setting

My husband and I, and two adult cousins stayed at this property. We ere in the area for a family reunion. It was initially identified with three beds, but the owner later told me the third bed was a pull out sofa, which worked for us. The setting is private and beautiful with lovely furnishings and a wrap around porch, which was delightful! The owner described the entry road, but it was steeper and narrower than expected. (Our cousins got pretty nervous when they arrived at the house after dark.) kitchen is complete with everything a traveler would need. Although rural, the house is surprisingly close to a beautiful lake with marina and fine dining. We would stay here again! Thank you for the fresh chocolate chip cookies.,

We have lived on this property (50 acres) for 39 years. There are two homes here, connected by a 3-car garage. We raised 5 children here and still love living in the country even though we have been empty-nesters for several years. The Cottage portion was home for Gordon's parents for many years. We decided it would make a perfect vacation rental because of the privacy and beauty of the home and property.

Why they chose this property

This Country Cottage is a lovely and comfortable home with all the comforts you may want as you relax and unwind. The setting is beautiful and very private. We are out in the country, but not too far out! Grocery stores, shopping, movie theaters, and restaurants are within a short drive.

Please note that we have a strict no smoking policy, inside and out. Thank you!

We recognize that some guests travel with a service animal. Unfortunately I am allergic to cats and to dogs that are not hypoallergenic. Please keep this in mind as you decide where to book. Again, thank you!

What makes this property unique

Here you will find a beautiful setting and view. The home is comfortable, inviting and very livable. It is furnished in eclectic farmhouse style. Some things are new, new-to-us, old and very old. It all comes together in a wonderfully cozy way. The wrap-around porch offers peaceful outdoor space. It features a porch swing, sitting area with wicker furniture and an area off the kitchen/dining area for outdoor dining or playing games.

The home cannot be seen from the road and has a 1/4 mile gravel driveway. Part of the driveway is a hill which may seem a little intimidating the first time. Just get some momentum and keep coming! Stay to the left as the drive curves to the right at the top of the hill. You will then see This Country Cottage! For easy access, the keypad will be programmed with the last four digits of the telephone number you provided when booking.
