Maine Camp Getaway

The description of this rental is very accurate. We would describe it as a wonderfully appointed 3-season Maine camp with very comfortable amenities. It had the features we wanted and some we did not know we needed. The weather during our stay was unusually HOT for Maine and the heat pump air conditioning was appreciated, even as we enjoyed dips in the lake and quiet time sitting on the deck. The kitchen contained the essentials (perfect for us) but elite chefs might want to bring their specialized cooking gear. Adequate towels and bedding were provided, and the beds were comfortable. One suggestion for a family that used many towels would be to bring a few extras. We also enjoyed the Wi-Fi and the gas grill. During our visit, another couple joined us for two nights, which worked well with the two bedrooms, but it should be noted that the bedroom walls do not go to the vaulted ceiling. Thus, visual privacy is possible, but sound does carry. (The small but functional bathroom is a self-contained space.) For location, the camp itself sits on beautiful Great Moose Pond in Hartland, ME, and for lake life it is wonderful. The public boat launch is just down the road, and we saw many boaters enjoying the lake. However, for people who want to explore "tourist" attractions, the area might not be for you. The area is beautiful, rural, and all about enjoying nature and the lake. Overall, we had a great week and would happily stay here again for an idyllic Maine lake vacation.

Great Week Vacation

Enjoyed our 7 day stay at this beautiful lakefront cabin! Very clean and had everything we needed from Wi-Fi & cell service to pots & pans for cooking. Lots of good fishing, grilling and nights by the fire made the stay very memorable & fun!! The local pizza place was so good we got it multiple times and is only an 8 minute drive from the cabin! Kayaks & a hammock on the property were a huge plus as well. Our black lab also could not get enough of the water!! The pictures do not do the house justice as we were blown away when we walked in with the view and cozy vibe from inside. We would love to stay again soon & thanks to Greg for having such a wonderful place! 🙏😁

Fall vacation

We enjoyed our stay and the property. We had a little trouble turning on the woodstove to start, but once we figured that out everything was great. The woodstove did a great job keeping the chill out in the morning. The lake is beautiful and the cabin sits in a perfect spot. Very quiet and relaxing. Nice and rustic, but that is our style. We would stay again if we have the opportunity.

Awesome spot

My husband and I and our dogs had a great time. Such a beautiful spot! Quiet and private. Super clean lake to swim in and a floating dock to swim out to and lay in the sun. Enjoyed the kayaks and the SUP. We bought all our groceries at a nearby Hannafords - grilled on the gas grill, and cooked on the small but well stocked kitchen! There’s a coffee/brewery out of a nearby neighbors garage (Bryant’s Brewing) for walkable/kayak-able brews. Beautiful view from the bed (bring your eye covers if you want to sleep in). Big open concept house (if you have other guests/kids with you, there are doors to the rooms/bathrooms but open to the ceiling, so noise/light can travel). Fire pit and wood for cozy campfires. Lots of loons! I hope to have a special place of my own someday, but in the meantime I will definitely be back!

Magnificent Location

We had a great time at this property! Although the first few days we couldn't see the other side of the lake because of rain, when everything cleared it was awesome. Very quiet and peaceful at night. During the day, there were some boats on the water, but really not bad during the day. The call of loons at night was eerily beautiful. Getting up in the morning to the view of the lake was really cool. All in all, we had a great time, and would definitely consider this property in the future.

Amazing lake views!

This cabin has the most amazing views of the lake. The views from the main bedroom are unbeatable. We loved waking up to see the lake in the morning when we first opened our eyes. It is in an awesome location, feels very private but not too far from things you may need and for day trips to places like Acadia or Moosehead Lake. We loved this cabin and will definitely be back!

Lovely

We had such a good time! Everything was as stated, communication with Greg was easy and he responded quickly. Cabin is right on the lake and we swam, kayaked to our heart’s content. Our dog loved it and didn’t want to leave. Relatively close to a Hannaford’s in Newport for groceries. Thank you for such a lovely relaxing site for us to spend our holiday.

the best place to recharge

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful house at the very beginning of September. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. And we found here everything we wanted! Wonderful house, divided into zones (it has everything you could want). Gorgeous nature and the silence around. If you like fishing, this is your place. If you like hiking, a great number of trails around. Greg is a wonderful host, always willing to help. I think we will come back here again.

Beautiful spot on Great Moose Lake

We enjoyed our stay with a welcome on the first afternoon the resident Bald Eagle. The view was great from the cabin and camp fire. The cottage had plenty of room and we really enjoyed the lake view from the dinning room and bedroom. The tables on the front porch were nice to have lunch at. Highly recommend staying at this cottage.

Lovely cabin by the lake

Lovely cabin by the lake. Walk right into the clear water for a nice swim. Pebbly bottom so water shoes are helpful. Complementary Kayaks are nice. AC inside is a bonus. Plenty of parking and space/trees between neighbors for privacy. Only thing to point out is the bedrooms are divided but share the same ceiling space with the living room so light and sound from tv can be heard/seen.

Wonderful Getaway

We arrived at Great Moose Lake after a long drive and were eager to see where we’d be vacationing for the next two weeks. We were a little nervous as the photos we’d seen were good, but we still had some questions – was it an easy place to relax in, did it have everything we wanted so we could have fun, was the lake really beautiful and interesting. Within 5 minutes our questions were answered with a resounding YES! In no time we were sitting on the deck, enjoying a cool drink, and taking in the beautiful view of the lake. This is a truly wonderful place to have a great lake vacation. The cabin layout was really clever – two good-sized bedrooms, a great bathroom, a compact but well-equipped kitchen and good spaces for playing games, reading, watching movies, relaxing on the decks (front and back) and all within steps of the lake. We swam, kayaked and paddle-boarded every day. The water was crystal clear and refreshing. We saw fish in the shallows and many loons swam by, quite close to the jetty. There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs and a view of the lake where we spent many nights making s’mores and watching the magnificent sunsets. We brought our dog with us (a big Bernese Mountain Dog) and he had a great time too. The main bedroom looks straight out to the lake and the morning views were wonderful to wake up to (although with sunrise at 4:40am the early dawn light was a little surprising at first, but we got used to it!). We had our two teenaged daughters with us so we had to sprinkle some “activity” days into our two weeks but that was fun too. We took day trips to Bangor, Damariscotta, Belfast, Fort Knox, and a few other places. They are not super close, but we found our excursions worth our time. Our hosts were great – they gave us all the information we needed and were not intrusive at all. We accidentally left a few important personal times behind when we left but they sent them on to us very quickly. This is a cabin we want to return to. As soon as the opportunity arises, we will.
