Seeking the chance to escape the city? Take a trip through Historic Grass Valley into the country to Nanny's House. Stop at Bitney Spring to fill up on refreshing spring water along the way. You'll know when you have arrived when you smell the fresh scent of Pines and Mountain Mahogany streaming through the air.
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath, ranch style home, on acreage, in the Sierra Foothills has been in our family for decades. You will have access to 2+ acres, as shown in the photographs. The grandchildren have magical memories of running through the fields, fishing in the pond, lazing in the hammock under a shady tree, sun bathing on the spacious deck, making homemade ice cream, swimming & rock jumping at the local swimming holes, lively dinner parties in the evenings with a musician or two, and the sounds of frogs chirping at night. It is known as the "Froggy Pond", a place a kid can be kid, a dog can swim all day and adults can simply kick back and enjoy!
The home has a large open floor plan kitchen, dining room and living room. You'll find everything you need to cook a gourmet meal. The large dining table is perfect for large dinner parties and holiday meals. Glass French doors overlook sprawling lawns, shady trees and the pond below. A large covered porch spans the front of the house and spills out on the spacious deck. The house is perfect for one to two families to enjoy.
Outdoor fun includes: catch and release fishing in the pond (bring your own poles), disc golf basket, corn hole, bocce ball on the lawn, and more...
Although you might never need to leave the property. There are numerous sites to see in the area. The Sierra Foothills are known for their spectacular hiking, and mountain bike trails. Many wineries are within a short drive. Our favorite summer swimming hole at Bridgeport - South Yuba River State Park (6 miles away). Downtown Grass Valley (6 miles away) and Downtown Nevada City (7 miles away) are a pleasure to stroll through with boutique shops, a variety of restaurants, wine tasting, galleries, saloons and the best candy store you'll ever lay your eyes on (Lazy Dog Chocolateria). You might want to catch a film in town at the historic Del Oro Theater. If you're a California history buff you'll enjoy a trip to the Empire Mine State Park.
A care taker is available should you find the need something, or simply want some local tips on sites to see. They are part of the family, and live on a separated part of the property at the other side of the creek. You may see them from time to time crossing the bridge on their way to their vegetable garden, or out irrigating the lawns. They will respect your privacy, as we know you will respect theirs.
