About this property

Fantastic property heated pool. Our guests say it is even better than the photos

The property is a recent barn conversion with original wood beams set in peaceful countryside within 5 minutes walk of the village of Manses. We are letting this fantastic property for the first time in 2016. We have superb views across open countryside to the Pyrenees. The property is set in 95 acres of fields and woodland belonging to the owners. This ensures tranquillity as well as privacy. Guests are welcome to use our 12 metre by 6 metre pool. A large patio to the south allows outdoor dining with views to the Pyrenees.
The property boasts 3 large double bedrooms with kingsize beds, one large twin bedded room and 3 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has an en suite italian style shower room.
The open plan living area and fully equipped modern kitchen face south to the Pyrenees with 2 sets of patio doors opening onto a private outdoor dining area.
The swimming pool is positioned so that uninterrupted views across rolling hills to the Pyrenees can be enjoyed.
There is outdoor table tennis and a barbecue.
For those who enjoy walking, the ancient pilgrims route, Chemin du St Jacques de Compostelle, passes by the rear of Le Cazal. Days can be passed by the pool or enjoying nearby activities of walking, hiking, cycling, skydiving, parachuting, rafting, canoeing, horse riding, golf and skiing to name but a few. Market day in the medieval town of Mirepoix (5 miles) should not be missed. Within easy reach of Carcassonne (50 mins), Toulouse (80 mins), Mediterranean beaches (Narbonne 90 mins) and ski slopes (Ax les Thermes 40 mins).

Wonderful stay
We had a wonderful time at Le Cazal and will definitely be back. The house was clean and spacious with all the facilities that you would need. Our hosts were delightful and shared some great tips for things to do whilst we were there. The location was great - well located for nearby towns and villages as well as walking. I would recommend to everyone.

We were 3 couples of sisters, brothers and partners. What a beautiful setting and a stunning renovation! Perfect for our needs, so well equipped and so relaxing. Lorna, David and Rosie were brilliant as yhe hosts as were the other couple staying the same week in the adjoining house. wonderful views
The property is one of 2 gites located next to each other. They appear to have connecting do9ors in the event of a large family renting both. The Gite was well furnished and equipped , it was obviously well maintained and far more spacious than it appeared fro the photographs. The bedrooms were large and all had ceiling fans which was a definite plus in the heat. The main room and 2 of the bedrooms had views over to the Pyrenees. The views are as impressive as shown in the photographs. The owners are on site but remain unobtrusive whilst being on hand to deal with any problems. The Property is located within easy travelling distance of a number of mediaeval sites and Toulouse and Carcassonne or even a day trip to Andorra. This was a late booking for us as we had business in Toulouse and we combined a holiday. We were pleasantly impressed and would certainly consider visiting again.

A beautiful gite in an amazing setting
This gite is in a superb setting, quite high up near the village of Manses, with wonderful views of the Pyranees. Lorna, the owner, gave us a very friendly welcome and told us about local dog walks for our dog Max. The gite was enormous and as we were just a couple we only used the downstairs which had a beautiful bedroom and ensuite shower room. There were a further three bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs! The lounge and kitchen/dining room were huge and fully equipped. We had a great verandah where we spent most of our mornings and evenings. It was peaceful, hot, and with the views, who could ask for more. We travelled quite a bit in the area as we are planning on retiring to France and wanted to get to know the area. I would recommend Mirepoix on Monday market day but get there early, it is also great for a drink/lunch/dinner etc. on any day of the week, sitting in the ancient square with all those fabulous buildings. We travelled through the Pyrannees to Pas de la Casa in Andorra, a very scenic journey but the end result, the ski resort, looked quite drab and too commercialised, especially without snow! We also had a very pleasant lunch at the cafe on Lac Montbel - the colour of the water being the bluest you have ever seen. All in all I would recommend this gite without exception and the host Lorna, was very hospitable and welcoming. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Suuuper!!
Vraimemt parfait, on espère revenir bientôt!

Top class, really comfortable and peaceful.
Lorna and David have done an excellent job with Le Cazal. We are all agreed that it is the best gite holiday we have had in France. The property is of a very high standard, the views are spectacular and Lorna and David are always available should you need any help. Highly recommended and we wish them all the best.

We stayed at Le Cazal
Can I keep this a secret ... no, it would not be fair to Lorna and David Cannell. This place is a gem, we had a wonderful stay for 4 weeks in April, with the most hospitable and caring hosts. Le Cazal is such a beautiful and authentic French Farm with the most lovely gites. The walks are fantastic, the gite was fantastic, the hosts fantastic; what else can we say, I would like to have stayed forever.

A perfect February holiday
A week at the beginning of February could have been dismal but we we had sunny days and clear crisp nights so it was perfect. The living area faces south so it was bright all day long because of the patio and french windows and warm too. We only needed the wood stove in the evenings and it kept us nice and cosy. The property is attractive, comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped. The views to the Pyrenees are just fantastic. It all looks great in the photos but in reality, it is even better! Mirepoix is a lovely town and surprisingly lively for the time of year. The market on Monday is well worth a visit, if only to sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the world go by. Carcassonne is great, especially the castle. The drive to the Cathar castle at Queribus was as enjoyable as the castle itself. It was only a hop skip and jump from the Mediterranean so we drove there across country and back via the coast. We managed a couple of days skiing at Ax-les Thermes. Great place, inexpensive - make sure you ask for insurance to be added to your ski pass. We had a busy week but could just as easily stayed at Le Cazal enjoying the views with some good wine. Le Cazal in winter is fantastic so we are planning to return for a summer stay too.
