Girls Hiking Trip

The property was very convenient to downtown, was clean and we loved the huge back yard and porches off the master BR and LR. I would have easily given this five stars but for a few things: 1) when people are staying for a week more that one kitchen towel is needed 2) the sheets on all the beds are rough and scratchy. Not torn but far from soft- the towels weren't to bad but those sheets need to be upgraded 3) Same thing with the TP, paper towels- seriously the cheapest you could possibly buy-no Kleenex at all 4) we called about a code for the pool/hot tub-was told it wasn't open yet-later walked by and people were using both- luckily the shared the code with us but not sure why we were told it wasn't open when it most definitely was and 5) the road up to the condo is STEEP (especially in the pouring rain) found out the very last night we were there that there is an elevator to the street right past the pool on the right hand side. Dang sure would have been nice to know that after a day of hard hiking. If the owners would put just a little bit of upkeep into the condo it would definitely be 5 stars. We enjoyed it in spite of the few minor inconveniences.

Good, bad and ugly

Good: great location, wonderful patios with mountain and manicured grass, birds and shade. Bad: spent vacation time finding the correct cables in a knotted mess to try to hook up non working tv signal. Missed dinner when refrigerator poured out water from ice dispenser. Sopped up floor, took rugs out to dry, relayed with husband dumping pans and pitchers of flowing out water. 2 hr wait for maintenance. Shower handle fell off in my hand, when i tried to turn it on. Non working outlet, 6 light bulbs out. No battery in clock. Ugly, stopped up bathroom sink, possible black mold in bathroom corner by tub. If not then, a pile of ugly dirt. Could have stayed home for all this stress.

Things that were broken upon our arrival.

We did not get a check-in email or text despite having already paid and had to call to get check-in information. However there was no issue with the check-out email and text 24 hours early. There were many things that need repaired including both tubs that do not hold water, the shower handle that falls off and must be held on to allow it to be used, the top electric plug on the door side of the master bed does not work, left sink of the master drains very slowly, the front bathroom bulb blew when we first arrived, and the icemaker did not work. Otherwise we had a comfortable stay and we enjoyed our convention which was a close walk down the hill. Emilee SurVance

I was very frustrated as I never received the code as promised to get into the property either by email, app or test.. Had to call VRBO to get the code. There is significant water damage with mold in the first bedroom next to the be on the left when walking into the room. Other peoples lost clothes were under the beds and the couch has not been moved in a while as it was not vacuumed. Dead bugs and food were still there.

Bear city!!

The condo was perfect! Great location, just off the main strip. Walk the hill or take the elevator right to all the action. Clean, nicely decorated, had all the necessities. We picked the perfect week. Bears everywhere for our viewing pleasure. We saw them walking though our back yard area daily. It was awesome.

Perfect for our needs

The condo was perfect for us that were staying for the week for an event. Super close to convention center and we got our workout in climbing the steep driveway. Condo is nice size with ample kitchen. Few cleaning issues I would suggest and could use some updating desperately, but overall super pleased and will return again.

City Bear property

We liked this property because it had two bedrooms, one which had two beds for the grandkids. We were on the first floor that had a nice patio area. Right in town so we could walk everywhere instead of using our car. However, it’s on a steep hill, so a little difficult for the grandparents to walk up it.

Great location

This was our second time staying at this building. The City Bear unit was very clean, and just as advertised according to the photos. Check in/check out process was easy, all electronic. Location is one of the best. 2 minutes walk and you're in the middle of everything. Our only issue was lack of internet. Cell service is bad there (we have Verizon), and we were unable to access wifi. Called Jackson Mountain twice, and supposedly maintenance was coming to help. Never saw or heard from anyone.

Sweet Spot

Great end unit location. Located near Calhouns. Two outdoor ground level patios, perfect taking in the sunset or hanging out. Both bedrooms were very roomy with plenty of storage. Hot water gets VERY hot so watch children. Fireplace is gas and we did have to keep getting up every 45 min to wind the timer. Only complaint is with communication with the management company. I communicated before we arrived through the website and never got a response. We also couldn’t get connected on the WiFi. We called the property management and left two voices one on Fri and one on Sat. Responded to text sent and never heard back. Full time students struggled to get work done. Opportunities: The sheets should be replaced with a higher thread count, beds should be evaluated for replacement or rotation. The toilet paper was scratchy and thin. Instacart does deliver here. Overall would rent again.

I don’t think I got the property I registered for, was supposed to be in a room with a loft but instead was in a single level. The breaker for the bathroom lights kept blowing and had to keep resetting. Clothes washer bucket was off track when we tried to use it.

1 hour before checkin the property called and told us the property was not going to be available

We went to Gatlinburg for a Navy Submarine Reunion and 1 hour before the 4 PM checkin time, we received a call from the management company informing us that the condo we reserved was not available. Needless to say this derailed our entire weekend, the management company did offer to relocate us to Pigeon Forge but we opted to find another place and not deal with them.

Location is the best for downtown events

We were in town for a dance competition Ayer convention center. This location couldn’t have been better. While the steep incline wasn’t super easy to walk, we were so thankful not to have to face traffic or parking. I liked the first floor location- pretty view and easy access to bringing things out and in. Everything was clean, however, it’s about time for some updating. Things are starting to show their age and with some remodeling this place could be great! Didn’t see a single bug while we were there- thankful for that!! I know the south in the summer, that can be an issue. We had some trouble with the lock and WiFi but the staff and maintenance team were helpful and quickly resolved things.

City Bear was Exceptional

We loved everything about City Bear - from the location to the cleanliness. Pool and hot tub were awesome. Beds comfy. Easy, short walk to downtown. Beautiful view of the mountains.

Overall the property and location was very nice, however the one key requirement element was missing

The location was within a couple minutes of the main street but far enough from it that we did not hear the traffic noise. The condo was clean and comfortable. However, we had a group of 4 adults, all who required internet access but the service was not available. We even contacted the service provider, had a technician visit all without success. This impacted our group costing us time and delayed our response time to our employers. In order to meet our professional responsibilities we left very early 4:40 AM in the morning so that we could make it home with sufficient time in the business day. This one situation impacted our trip and created unnecessary burden on us all.

Great Location

Beautiful place, at the end of the strip in downtown Gatlinburg, can walk to all the shop’s and restaurants and for a really good price. We had a few issues but were all addressed pretty quickly and by friendly people. We were given an address and access code but no name of the condominium or a unit #. So we weren’t sure if we at the right place and didn’t know which unit we were in but thankfully when we called someone answered right away. You only receive one towel and one wash cloth per person as it says in the ad but the washing machine wasn’t working so we asked for more towels and they gave us plenty more. The ad says the kitchen is stocked with basic items but it was under stocked. There were only two bowls, we had four people and we couldn’t use the oven because there were no oven pans or oven mitts so if you want to bake cookies as we did we couldn’t. We should have checked the supplies before grocery shopping! There also were no large serving spoons without slots. Other than having very little towels and kitchen supplies it was very nice with a great location for a great price. Quick and friendly assistance and we would definitely stay here again. Very close to the Ober Ski resort, only a couple of miles just around the corner where we spent two days snowboarding. This was our fifth time using VRBO for a vacation rental and we have never been disappointed. This was no exception. All owners and/or property managers have been very nice and accommodating. If there are any issues or things you need like not enough hot water, heater not working or other issues, just let someone know and they can address it. If you don’t tell them they won’t know. Thank you for letting us stay! We loved it!

Weekend getaway

This was a nice unit for a quick weekend getaway. Location was convenient to anything in Gatlinburg if you don’t mind the walk back up a steep hill where the building is. There was plenty of room for the four of us.

City Bear in Gatlinburg

The inside of the condo was nicely decorated. Did not like the building but our corner unit had a nice back sitting area. Right in center of downtown Gatlinburg. Back door lock was broken. Kitchen counters were not clean. Beds were comfortable. Office location not on site.

Property was very nice, I didn’t get the Appartment number or code in the app, so had to call, was on hold for a while. Eventually got the door code and knew the building but had to try the code on all the doors to find the correct condo.
