Lovely as usual

I think this is our third stay here. It never disappoints. Owner communication is great and property always clean. Easy to access and a good starting point for heading to other areas in North Carolina.

Best Vrbo we'we found

This house is very clean and modern. The view from the front porch is awesome. It's close to everything in the area. The property manager is great. It took us a bit to realize we could park close enough to the back porch for the wheelchair ramp from my van to reach the back porch but after that I had no problem coming and going.

Their home became our home (for a week)

The owner communicated early and as needed throughout the reservation and arrival process to make us feel relaxed and welcome. Access to everything in the cottage and the surrounding area was wonderfully easy! The cottage was exceptionally clean and well-provisioned with towels, blankets, and many other essentials that one doesn't often find in a rental cabin/cottage. The location is ideal. The Smoky Mountain National Park and Deep Creek Campground are within walking distance, though for safety reasons, I recommend you drive in and park to avoid having to walk on the narrow road. The owner provided a list of ideas for adventures with details to help choose and find. While we did do the obvious, such as the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad (GSMR), Nantahala Gorge Excursion, we also took a bumpy twisting ride in our Jeep Wrangler 4x4 down Balsam Mountain Road/Heintooga Round Bottom Road, which the owner described in his catalog of local adventure ideas. We saw a lot of elk and other wildlife but no bears, which may be a good thing.🙂 There is so much to do in the Bryson City, NC area! I highly recommend this property for short-stay vacations.

Great Experience

Enjoyed the location and especially the view sitting on the deck. The host has thought about everything you would need. The kitchen has everything you need and there are plenty of games and puzzles. There is a charcoal grill. It would have been great to have had a gas grill.

Amazing property and location!

We booked Blue Mountain Cottage for a wedding anniversary getaway. We wanted to be in a central location near several towns and this place did not disappoint. First, the property is exactly as advertised and shown. It was immaculate and the bed was super comfortable. One of our favorite times was spent in the rocking chairs relaxing and admiring that view. It is incredible to see the mountains change depending on weather and time of day. We went to Gatlinburg one day, explored the Smoky Mountain drives and had the joy of seeing elk in the wild. We were close enough for a trip to Asheville as well where we went to the North Carolina Arboretum which was so beautiful and diverse. We also visited Waynesville for the artists and craftspeople work. There is a train ride you can take on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad too. One of our favorite days was minutes away from the cottage at Deep Creek where we hiked the waterfalls trail and saw the Tom’s River Waterfall. Do yourself a favor and take a drive on the Road To Nowhere which is also less than 10 miles from the cottage. There is a pullover view that is the best of all the sites we visited. This host has prepared a place that is stocked with necessities and he is super accessible with communications. Absolutely would choose this property again when visiting the area.

Thanksgiving week

Me, my hisband and 12 year old son stayed at this beautiful cottage for the week. The cottage was bigger inside than we thought it would be. The home has been completely remodeled and is beautifully done. The views were gorgeous. Couldnt wait to wake up to look at the view. Me and my son walked thr short walk to Deep Creek and went hiking. Would love to stay in the summer to enjoy the water since there is an area with steps to enter the river just a block or 2 away from the cottage. Cant wait for our next trip

Spacious home next door to Deep Creek trails

If you visit in Oct, you will be fighting massive crowds in this popular national park. Thankfully, this lodging is literally next door to Deep Creek, so we could be one of the first ones at that trail. The home is spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view. Especially loved the Stressless recliner for reading at night.

Great Get-away

Went to the mountains to escape the Florida heat, and we weren’t disappointed. The Blue Mountain Cottage was perfect for us! Fully furnished with everything we needed. We loved sitting on the back porch each evening watching the full panoramic sunset, sipping wine and then enjoying the fire pit. You can hear the soothing sound of the water from Deep Creek. Highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a real retreat.

Bryson City and GSMNP

We liked our stay in the Blue Mountain Cottage. The lodging is spacious, clean, comfortable, and conveniently located close to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, tubing, horse riding, and even caverns, with easy access from the main road. We used to sit on the porch in the mornings and late afternoons and enjoy the vista views towards the mountains. The amenities are exactly as described and the photographs of the properties are true to reality. The owner responded promptly to communications before and during the visit. We appreciated receiving an extensive portfolio of PDF files within a few days after our reservation was confirmed with information about the area as well as detailed directions on how to get to the property. We will be happy to stay at this cottage again.

Anniversary trip

Lovely property. Older but recently renovated home. Easy access. Very Well supplied throughout, even paper plates and kitchen baggies/ziplocks. We borrowed the small cooler for packing our lunch. Great view. Quiet. No Visible neighbors. Comfortable bed. No complaints. Easy communication with host. Was kool to have tubes for the park stream so no rental required which meant no lines! GSMPark and Deep Creek is 5 minutes away. We drove. Is within walking distance but is a rather narrow road.

2nd Stay and Awesome Again!!!

We love this cabin! We have been visiting Bryson City for years and stayed at many cabins, Blue Mountain is our favorite!! The location, porch view, flowers, accommodations, and amenities can’t be beat! Excellent communication, easy in/out, very clean, super comfy beds/pillows, and we LOVE being able to walk to Deep Creek and use the provided tubes for tubing!!! Bob and Heidi have thought of everything (including binoculars for bird watching from the porch). Don’t change a thing, we hope to return again soon. Thank you for sharing your stay!

About the host

Host profile image
We live in central Florida, but love to escape the heat. My wife and I finally retired in 2024 so we are using the cottage more frequently, but when we are not, we welcome you to enjoy our slice of paradise!

Why they chose this property

Location is hard to beat. Our property adjoins the Great Smoky Mountains National park and you literally are a very short walking distance to the Deep Creek recreation area. Easy access - no brutal steep mountain driveways to traverse. And downtown Bryson City is less than 2 miles away.

What makes this property unique

Mixture of modern and rustic, but very comfortable with nice views from our front deck. Lots of birds, and usually wild turkeys, rabbits, groundhogs, and deer can be seen. Occasional bear sighted.
