Cozy Railway Cottage

This Cozy Railway Cottage is nestled in the tranquil rural hamlet of Rangataua which is 5 minutes from Ohakune Township/Junction and the Mountain Road. It has heaps of character and warmth with all the firewood and heating you require.Situated on the edge of the Rangataua forest walking, mountain bike tracks and a horse riding school are right on the doorstep. Full kitchen facilities,endless amounts of hot water lazy boy chairs and lots of board games for those stay at home days. Sky TV BYO decoder. The Large kitchen area separate lounge and a large flat sunny section make it an ideal base for families with children:

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
2 nights minimum stay.
3 nights minimum stay during Public holiday/ Mardi Gras weekends.
Prices quoted for up to 2 persons extra persons $15 per person per night.
Infants under 2 free.
Dogs by appointment only.
Porta cot and highchair available.

NOTE:
We don’t charge a cleaning fee but Under Kiwi Bach tradition you are expected to clean and tidy the house and leave it as found ready for the next guests. $100 returnable bond is payable directly to the owner after booking.

Great, unique bach

This is our second time staying here - the kids were really little when we first stayed. Now they are both at uni. A great place for the family to hang out. Clean, comfortable, quirky and warm. We never got bored. Highly recommended!

Great option near Ohakune

Perfect spot for family get together. Cozy kitchen area for sitting around the big table chatting, eating and drinking, playing cards. Woodfire heats the room up really well. Great location for accessing medium day walks. Can't believe they still do the whopper chocolate eclairs in Ohakune - they don't seem to have changed in the 20 years since I last had one!

Great base for a mountain trip.

The cottage was just what we were looking for and lived up to its description and photos. What you can't get from the listing is how great the kitchen feels when it's cold out, the fire is going and you have the whole family together there. Reading in one of the rocking chairs next to the roaring fire is time well wasted.

Railway cottage

Three days of solid rain but we were cosy and warm. Open fire was lovely. Trains passing at the doorstep! Handy location just minuites from Ohakune.

Amazing Authentic Old-Style Home Stay

We've stayed here for 4 nights, during our ski trip, with my partner and 2.5 yo toddler. I've chosen the house by its authentic look and 2 fire places, and the location right near the railway was a super bonus! Yes, it was waking us up, but it was so cool to see train passing from your bedroom window! My toddler is overexcited about trains now and it was surely highlight of our trip. The house is super cozy, old-fashioned, with so much history and interesting things to read and explore and watch! Thank you for providing such experience and Looking forward to staying again in future!

Cosy Indeed - Peaceful and Relaxing

Wonderfully laid out and organised, charming and authentic bach. Good communication with the owner and agent led to a great stay. The instructions and information in the bach are helpful and clear, and there are so many nice touches within. We slept very soundly. Easy connection to Ohakune and beyond.

Retro is In!

Who needs a top standard fancy bach when you can stay in a retro cottage like this with character!? Kiwi living and a reminder to slow the pace down. Well equipped bach.
