The Bay Cottage is situated in historic Te Wahapu Bay on the Russell Peninsula in the Bay of Islands. With its waterfront setting,'The Bay Cottage' is the ideal, romantic "get away from it all" location with comfortable and welcoming amenities. It provides a peaceful and secluded location for your leisure break or holiday.

A short drive to Russell Village, yet a world away from everyone, 'The Bay Cottage' provides a stunning waterfront holiday venue with decks looking out over the bay.

This is a great spot with easy access to the historic Bay of Islands, Waitangi Treaty House and other early sites of interest in what was the first capital of New Zealand.

For dining in Russel - we recommend the Duke of Marlborough on the waterfront, or Hone's Garden behind the Gables Restaurant - great wood fired pizza and craft beer!
Special conditions:
Minimum 2 night stay or 3 nights peak season.
Two persons maximum.
Please respect that smoking is not allowed at the cottage, inside or on the balcony.
Please advise if traveling by motor-home as parking restrictions apply in the area.
Also please note the track leading up to the cottage is not suitable for large suitcases and we recommend smaller overnight bags or lighter bags that can be carried be used for taking items up to the cottage.
Linen is provided as included in the rate. Includes bed linen, towels and tea-towels for the kitchen.

Waterfront Cottage
Waterfront Cottage was in an idyllic setting, quiet and secluded.Was about a 10 minute drive to Russell.There are steep steps up to the cottage and steep and narrow stairs in the cottage to the bedroom.You need to be reasonably mobile.Overall a great place to stay.

This was juist what we were looking for,a quit place, with a beautiful view. The house has everthing you need, Nice sitting area, good shower, internet and a good bed to sleep in.

spent most time on the balcony for meals, scrabble gazing at the view etc.only grumble was the access steps. I am an architect and I think the Bay Cottage needs a better access.Also missing was a hair dryer and an iron

Private oasis!
One of the best vacation homes we have stayed in, could have sat on the deck and stared out at the ocean all day! Fun character, comfy bed and everything you need to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thank you David, we cannot wait to return!

Cottage in the trees
Once you have climbed the steps to the cottage and you went in then you realised that you had a wonderful hideaway in the trees and outside on the terrace you looked out over the sea and the moored boats. In the morning you woke to a wonderful sunrise, breakfast on the terrace was great It proved the perfect base for exploring the northern part of New Zealand It was great

Cozy cabin on the waterfront
We loved our stay here. The cabin is cozy, has rustic charm and the most beautiful view. The view from the deck was awe-inspiring! We went swimming in the water which so clear, calm and beautiful. We also caught about 10 snapper just off the beach in front of cabin. This place is a treasure!

We loved our first stay here so much that we decided to come back! It is the perfect place to get away as a couple, the cabin has the most spectacular views and we love the cozy fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you decide to cook, and the town is a short drive away if you feel like dining out. We hope to come back again some day, thanks again for having us :)
