Comfortable three bedroom home, with great scenic views over lake and hills. Modern fully fitted kitchen with full oven and 2 x fridge/freezer, open plan kitchen/lounge/dining. Kitchen has full facilities (oven/microwave/dishwasher). Lounge has TV with DVD player, Wifi and Chromecast. Large deck area with outside table, chairs and gas BBQ. 2 kayaks available to use. Games, books, cards and puzzles available. Main bedroom has King bed, 2nd bedroom has 2 x bunks (sleeps 4) and 3rd bed has 2 x singles (changing to 1 x double bed after Nov 2024) - sleeping 8 in total. Duvets, blankets and pillows supplied - Bring your own towels, sheets and pillow cases please. Plenty of parking for cars. Cell phone coverage.

Few minutes in car to Boat Shed Bay or Stoney Point to launch your boat, or walk 100m across the road and you are at the lake side.
Enjoy the peace and quiet, the birdsong or try your hand at fishing in Lake Tarawera (fishing licence required). Use this peaceful location as a base for the many activities Rotorua has to offer.
Available during peak season to rent. Families preferred. Max 8 people. (Sorry, not suitable for large groups of adults.)
We seem to be a popular choice for guests to take a long weekend while attending weddings at The Black Barn.

Beautiful spot! Perfect Family Bach.

We had a lovely stay for a long weekend as we were attending a wedding at The Black Barn. The house was perfect for this as it was super close to the venue. The house was tidy, lots of room, and felt very homey. We had everything we needed. Such a beautiful spot, and our toddler loved spending time at the house and the lake. Check in and communication with Sally and Bruce was super easy. Would definitely recommend for anybody after a nice peaceful weekend in this area ☺️

Neat spot, fabulous holiday home

One of the best holiday houses we've stayed at. Spacious, amazing deck and view, with a well-equipped kitchen, it made for an easy stay. There's a walkway across the road that leads down to the lake, so the location was perfect. It's a steep driveway but we worked out how to best park the boat (up the top), and there was plenty of room for other vehicles down below. Our kids loved the board games and kayaks so it's well set up, even on rainy days. We loved our stay at this bach, and we'll be back!

They house is lovely really close to The Blavk Barn were we had family wedding. Host was lovely , we would highly recommend 🙂🙂🙂

Great weekend!

Thanks so much for a fabulous stay, we really enjoyed the house, it was perfect for our needs. Our teenage kids loved it, there were two families of 4 and the house was great for us. Close to the lake and boat ramp. Great outdoor and BBQ area for sundowner drinks. Well equipped kitchen and lounge area with lovely lake outlook. Highly recommend, would love to come back another time!

Long weekend

We had a great long weekend at this Bach, great location and plenty of room outside for cars and boat. Would definitely love to use again. PS I think we left a fly rod there in a canvas tube. If you find it please let me know as it had sentimental value as we had it made for my Dad x

Amazing house, incredible location!

We stayed here for a wedding at The Black Barn and it was everything we needed! Spacious, clean, well-equipped, warm, sunny and perfectly located. Communication with the host was excellent! Check in was a breeze. We will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful Easter at the lake

We were so lucky to get this property at short notice for the long weekend (due to a cancellation). It was perfect for our family of 5. The house was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. It was lovely and sunny and in a great location. It was an easy walk to the lake and playground. We will definitely book this house again. Many thanks.

Fresh and clean. Comfortable beds and sleeping arrangement. Good storage for sports equipment in shed. Well resourced kitchen and utensils. We have stayed previously and would stay again.

Lovely lake house.

Very nice property - comfortable with lovely deck area and views. Good beds with plenty of extra bedding - we had everything we needed. Perhaps another mirror or two would be helpful :)

Parking for vehicles and boat great

Newly painted property was fresh and clean. Being able to lock up skiis, wakeboard, jackets, wet suits, paddleboard etc in shed was fantastic. Shed secure and lovely and warm to dry out gear. Kitchen well resourced with a lovely big fridge and new oven. Overall a pleasant stay with good car/boat parking. A second bathroom would be perfect as my daughter said I woke her each night creeping down the hallway, however we would stay again at this property.

Amazing location, easy access to the beach, beautiful sunny deck with veiw.

No issues at all. Was easy to find and gain access. Bit of a pain we couldn't drink the water and had to bring all our own bedding but other than that it was great.

About the host

Hosted by sallon27

Bruce and Sally have owned this property since their 3 girls were young. We have spent many happy family hours here, playing games after dinner and spending daylight hours playing in and on the lake.
Bruce has always loved fishing and Sally is learning to fish now that the girls are grown up. Sally loves to walk along the lakeside.
We live about 2 hours away from the property and enjoy going for the weekend for the peace and quiet that the lake offers us.

Why they chose this property

Over the past few years we have been renovating the property and now have double glazing, insulation through the roof, underfloor and external walls, new bathroom and new toilet with new curtains throughout. We have recently installed a water filtration system so you can now drink the water direct from the tap.
