About this property

Enjoy the sound of the birds among the trees

Five minutes walk to the centre of town, this charming fully-furnished family home is set among trees in a quiet location across the road from Gleeson Park. This reserve is mainly lawn and trees with a small playground for children, and is suitable for family games and picnics ... bring your badminton net!
Designed and built by an architect in the 1960s, the quirky home has many interesting features including a narrow sky-view strip that runs the length of the roof. Very little has been modified over the years, apart from the original balcony. This was completely rebuilt (2017) to comply with modern building-safety standards.
The master bedroom upstairs has a small bridge that leads across to an elevated private garden with fruit trees.
While the main bathroom has a shower, toilet and bath, upstairs there's a second toilet with hand basin.
Being a chalet style with open stairs, our holiday home is not ideally suited for wee toddlers or the infirm.
Off street parking is available for up to three vehicles.
Special conditions:
Minimum stay 2 nights.
$190 per night for 2 adults, plus $10 per night per extra person.

Smoking allowed outside only.

Extras: Linen (included); Free Wifi (included);Sky TV. (included)
NOTE: Under Kiwi Bach tradition you are expected to leave the Bach in a tidy condition.

A relaxing place to be
A quirky home which was a pleasure to stay in. Suitable for those who can cope with stairs as there are two long flights of stairs. A large open plan kitchen/dining/lounge which was well used during our stay. Everything we needed, and more, was provided making this the perfect place to stay for our two day minibreak. We did not park in the driveway as it looked a bit tricky to reverse out of and instead chose to park on the side of the road.

Quirky house if your looking for a place relax
The photos are accurate and this place isn’t for everyone. I loved the quirkiness of it but it certainly creaks and has lots of stairs. Very quiet neighbourhood yet very close to town. Everything we needed for 5 days. Ron greeted us on arrival even though it was around 8pm and made sure we were settled. SkyTV but no movies which would have made it perfect on the rainy days. Still we managed, and overall had a great time. Thank you

Great stay in Napier
My husband and I were travelling with my daughter, hubby and 3 boys. The accommodation met all our needs and was very quirky and lots of things for the boys to discover in the yard. The furniture was comfortable with plenty of seating for everyone. Thank you Ron for opening your home up to us. It was very obvious that it was a much loved home that you built. Regards Marina

Stress free stay
Such a well equipped property made us feel at home. Great areas to relax especially outside by the walnut tree. Beds were comfortable as was the lounge TV room, with heating and ceiling fan. Ron was an amazing and very accommodating host, looked after all our requests. Thanks Ron we loved your property. Just be aware steps to access all levels of this house.

Great location...easy to walk into the city centre and Countdown close by. Interesting property and enjoyed its quirkiness. One suggestion would be an electric blanket on the beds as was chilly when we stayed there and that would have been appreciated. All in all the property is as described and a nice place to stay.

Great spaces and natural lifht
Great communal spaces for a family group of 8 (3 generations). A little cluttered for us but plenty of art to look at and books to read. Loads of clean linen and towels provided by the host. Appliances were clean/new and easy to use. We stayed 4 nights and the location was fantastic for central Napier. The mezzanine floor had 2 single beds and is light in the morning and above the lounge so the light sleepers of the group found it difficult to sleep. The host was on site but in a separate unit. He met us on arrival, came over once during our stay to see if we could help him alter his online amenities re the bbq and on our departure. There was no bbq as advertised. However when I messaged the host where the bbq was, he was apologetic and stated he would delete this from the list of amenities advertised online. Overall it was certainly adequate for our needs.
