About this property

Holidays as they're meant to be...


Our holiday home sleeps six. It has comfy sofas and outdoor living that was built for relaxing. There is a log burner fireplace, a spa pool, wi-fi, a DVD library and a well stocked bookcase. The house has a HRV home ventilation system installed. Bach Number Twelve is a great spot for you to relax with your family and friends, no matter what the weather is.

Walk down to the beautiful bay for all tide swimming, or up to the General Store for the morning paper. The region offers wonderful coastline, wineries and eateries. Lonely Planet’s latest edition of the NZ travel guide says "Leigh – applauded for its picturesque harbour dotted with fishing boats and a decent swimming beach at Matheson Bay."

Approximately 1 hour's drive north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and 90min/100kms from Auckland Airport.

All pillows, duvets, blankets and even hot water bottles are here. Please bring your own bed-sheets, towels and tea-towels.

For young children, a highchair, a portacot, change mat and mountain buggy are available on inquiry. The deck is gated for children's safety.

A dinghy is available to use, which is kept down at the bay. (There are four life-jackets: two adult, one child medium and one child small.)

Special conditions:
There is a compulsory cleaning fee of $80 added to the rental.
Please bring your own bed-sheets, towels and tea-towels.
No parties please, and 6 people max to stay, as the bach is on a rain water tank system and a septic tank.
Arriving after 2 pm and departing by 11 am.
Smoking outside only.

Mathesons Bay bach
We all enjoyed our stay. A well stocked and equipped beach style property with modern hot tub and fireplace. Only detractions would be the older style tv, smart tv would be an improvement, and lack of a undercover clothesline makes it difficult keeping on top of laundry during winter weather. Overall a very enjoyable location and residence.

We have stayed here a number of times and it is perfect location, it was really clean and has everything you need. We were so busy exploring this time we never got to use the spa pool which is another feature of the property. Nice views too. The worst part is leaving.

Summer Holiday verses Winter
Overall the house was clean and tidy but it could do with a bit of sprucing up. Lots of easy to follow instructions from the owners.This house would be an excellent summer holiday home but as we were there in the winter the house was cold unless we had the fire going all the time.No curtains only blinds on the windows except for the large cotton curtains on the lounge ranchsliders and no curtains on the dining room ranchslider which allowed the heat to escape and the next door neighbours to see in. Not exactly private. If you used the Bach in the summer you are definitely nice and close to the beach.

We had a wonderful time at this bach, it was an easy walk to the Sawmill and Mathesons Bay where we made use of the dinghy - lots of fun. Fireplace and spa were great. Super easy check in with the lock box. Thanks :)

A lovely stay

Overall a lovely place in a great location. Only comment would be that the tv is quite old and quality of dvd sound not great. A smart tv would be great so you could use your own chromecast..But not a biggie as trip not about that!

Annual cousins weekend away
Perfect spot, close to beach, beautiful native birds all around us, super comfy beds, relaxing spa, nice and tidy. Enjoyed the markets and shops in town. Throughly enjoyed it!
