We enjoyed our stay here. Had everything we needed, in a great location and beautiful fenced off backyard which was handy for toddlers. Would stay again.
Great place for our summer holiday. Great house close to the beach within a nice quiet neighbourhood. When the weather didn’t play ball there was plenty to do and explore in and around Waikanae and the greater Wellington area. Was nice to come back to a comfortable house at the end of each day.
Our two parent two child family enjoys this house and has been for a week three years in a row. Convenient to beach, sunny, nice lawn and lounge for playing.
The house is very cozy and comfortable and basic. The host was very responsive and helpful. It’s walking/biking distance from the beach and a good restaurant and a Four Square. Right next door is a fantastic bakery. If you don’t travel with linens and towels make sure to pay extra for them. And make sure you get more than one towel each! We expected beach towels and face cloths and hand towels Overall a perfect weekend.
Our host Janine was very helpful. Being from out of country we needed local information, a few special arrangements etc and Janine was very accommodating and informative. The bach has a well equipped kitchen which given we stayed for over 3 weeks was very much appreciated. Good BBQ, outdoor deck and furniture enabled us to eat outside comfortably. The living room is quite spacious and comfortable. There is sufficient bedding for 4 guests. We would gladly stay there again.
This property works well for us with a couple of smallish children who like the beach and the river. Plenty of room in the garage for locking up bikes and a good yard for a run around in.
The bach had everything we needed, and the big grassy yard was perfect for my child to run around in. The barbecue was perfect for lunch, and the proximity to Olde Beach bakery was more than we could ask for. Will definitely stay again!
My partner and I enjoyed spending the weekend in Waikanae Beach at Janine’s place. Olde Beach is a great neighbourhood for morning walks, picking up pastries at the local bakery & trips to the beach. House is warm & well set up with everything you need for a relaxing trip away.
Enjoyed our stay, with comfy beds (fyi the 2 single beds are king single size so good for adults) and all the comforts of home. A great location to both beach and bakery. We will be back. Thanks so much.
We had a lovely time in a great classic kiwi house, close to cafes, coffee a bakery and the beach. Easy to find and a wonderful backyard.
Awesome communication from Janine -I misplaced the instructions to get in and we needed help , she answered my call and guided us through the process. It was a great experience
Great accommodation we travelled to Porirua for an event getting on and off the motorway was easy, location was awesome, great fish & chip shop as mentioned.
Would definitely book again if we needed to travel that way again!
Nice stroll to the beach as well. Would definitely suggest to friends & family.
Cheers
The living and kitchen areas of this property have been nicely modernised and it is very warm for a winter stay. The deck and ourdoor area would be nice in summer too I am sure. The property is in a good location for walking to explore the beach and lagoons as well as an amazing bakery a couple of doors down .
The hosts are easy to contact and very responsive.
This bach delivered on its title and is nicely renovated. We enjoyed the open plan living and the warmth of the heat pump as the weather wasnt the best during our stay. Handy location to take advantage of great Thai food down the road. Dairy, yummy fish and chips and bakery just a stones throw away. A relaxing private retreat, thank you for sharing.
Great location next to the bakery for early morning pastries and coffee. Only two blocks walk from the beach, playground and cafes.
Kitchen was modern with a open plan kitchen, dining, living area. Great with kids. HUGE lawn, including a trampoline. Comfortable beds. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back!

Good location in Waikanae Beach
Property is well located and great deck/backyard. Very tired decor, lack of Netflix etc. enabled TV and the 'no towels and bedding' was weak, however it is close to Waikanae Beach, restaurants and bakeries etc. Checking in, instructions etc. all very good. OK overall, with some limitations...
Good property.
More notice around BYO linen.
Otherwise very good.

A visit to Waikanae
Overall we considered this property to be overpriced for the facilities offered. Unfortunately did not check whether it had wifi assumed incorrectly it would have. There was only one tv channel. The bathroom tap pipes had brown water in them and the second bedroom lamp fixtures broken. Location excellent.

This house is sunny and warm, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything we needed in it:-) The children enjoy playing in the back yard too. Great for tag. The trampoline has a couple of holes in it which weren't there last time. No big deal but young children may not manage this well. Jumpers could cause further damage? Just a potential safety issue.
Very disappointed with our stay at this property and would not recommend it to others.
There were cockroaches throughout the house, the toilet was dirty, thick dust on window ledges, hairs on the duvets, food crumbs in the cutlery draws and appliance cupboards, and mugs in the cupboard had remains of drinks.
It is ridiculous that guests need to take all rubbish away upon departure, and that guests are not able to use the outside rubbish bin.
The last night of our stay someone entered the property and removed the outside rubbish bin, whilst we were out, leaving the gate open, which is very concerning behaviour.

Family of four, living in Wellington. We purchased this home just before the birth of our daughter, and have spent many fun-filled weekends and Christmas holidays here.
Why they chose this property
We love the compact nature of the place, and the wonderful open and sunny back yard. Weekends spell lie-ins, pain au chocolat and fresh coffee from the bakery, and evenings spent enjoying fish and chips on the beach from the chip shop around the corner. We love that we can walk to the beach, restaurants and park, and our bikes are well used in summer months riding the fantastic coastal trail.
What makes this property unique
Sunny and spacious back yard. Super easy access from motorway. Close to shops, beach, parks, restaurants and gorgeous walks and bike rides.
