Our stay was nothing short of blissful. We lucked out with the weather the use of their kayaks was a plus it’s a nice and short walk to the community of Halibut Cove and all that it offers also have a nice private beach. Excellent Stay

Everything about our stay was excellent. Before we arrived we received a very detailed message about arranging a ferry, what to expect when we arrived, and an offer to rent kayaks. Chris met us down on the beach when we arrived and helped us carry our stuff up to the cabin. The cabin was wonderful - it looked like the pictures, it was clean, we had zero complaints. It was a lovely cozy spot to spend a few days. The view out the big windows was incredible! It was a beautiful view of the water where we got to watch the sun rise and set. There was an eagle nest nearby, and we got to see multiple eagles flying around and talking to each other throughout our stay which was pretty magical. It was a nice 10-15 minute walk to the coffee house, restaurant, and all the boardwalks. We loved making this walk every day and exploring a bit. All the folks we met were lovely and super friendly. Chris and some others we met invited us to a softball game. :) We had some windy weather the day we planned to kayak, and Chris gave us a late check out time since there wasn’t someone

Alaska's Beach, Beauty, Get-a-way by Halibut Cove, Halibut Cove

We loved our stay at Eagle's Nest. We water-taxed to the Bay and were warmly greeted by amazing hosts Marji and Chris and their team who helped carry our luggage to a beautiful home with a view above the Bay. Chris gave us an ATV ride near Halibut Cove and we walked into the peaceful Cove of Tranquility. We got coffee and walked the boardwalk and enjoyed the art galleries, waterfront, and Saltry for dinner. We felt like we were touring the fiords of Sweden and Norway as we walked this gorgeous seaside cove and watched daring, adventurous divers plunge into the cold water bay from the boardwalk. We saw a family of sea otters playing and enjoyed a 11:00 pm sunset over the bay. Thank you for a perfect Alaskan rest watching eagles and enjoying serenity.

Gorgeous Halibut Cove Retreat!

We really enjoyed our stay in the Eagle's Nest and Wolf's Den. Private beach, multiple deck levels for dinner and cocktails and morning coffee, gorgeous views. We initially booked only the (upstairs) Eagle's Nest and later added the Wolf's Den to accommodate additional travelers. Both are well-appointed and comfortable. Marja, Chris, and Eva were great hosts, very responsive to all our questions and needs, and Chris's helpful hints with the kayaks were really appreciated! We had great weather and used the kayaks to paddle to Kachemak Bay State Park and hiked to the glacier; we brought back some glacier ice for Old Fashioneds on the deck. The Saltry (highly recommend) and galleries/coffee shop are a 20-minute walk. Marja graciously provided muck boots for our entire party as it was pretty muddy after all the rain when and before we arrived. There are a lot of steps to get up to the house from the beach (we had no issues with that but others might) and you do have to walk down a dirt/grass path from the house to access the decks (again, no issues for us, but just be aware). Overall, this is a really wonderful property for a one-of-a-kind getaway!

Dreamcation!

We are Homer locals plus visiting family from Chicago who each and all had the very best time at Eagles Nest and Wolfs Den together. Our hosts were helpful in every way. Marja and Eva greeted us at the shore, helped us get our stuff to (and from) the house and settled, hooked us up with the local utterly fresh oysters! While some of us played on the private beach exploring tidepools and caverns and swimming about, others chilled on the beach deck overlooking the frolicking and changing tides, eating the freshest of oysters. The double kayaks were such a treat, and made our explorations all the richer. The trails around the island were fun, easy walks, sun-dappled forrest bathing. Chris helped us orient and get around the island trails, so many thanks!! The weather was so good we kept going outside all day but we all noted that we would have been happy to curl up in the rental all day, read or talk and watch a storm come through. The wrap around porch was convenient for leaving our sandy shoes, towels, and wetsuits out to dry, and of course to sit and enjoy morning coffee, and evening cocktails. The beds (in both rentals) and the pull-out couch (in Eagles Nest) were delightfully comfy, we all slept in astonishingly well for the summer solstice time of year when the sun is so strong. The kitchen had everything we needed to make numerous meals, prepare oysters, and it even had the wares and oven for baking a celebratory desert one night. Marja Chris and Eva were kind, respectful, helpful and welcoming in all the important ways. The proximity to the coffee shop and the Saltry are so convenient- we felt both connected to the rest of the island and enjoyed total privacy as well. This scene is dreamy- I fully recommend it - we look forward to getting back!!

Amazing views

The house was clean and updated. Our 1st time visiting the island, host was responsive to our many questions. We took the kayaks to Halibut Cove Lagoon and saw some wildlife (check tides before you go). A very special place with great hosts.

We're Marja, Eva & Chris, and we have been exploring and loving Alaska for the past seventeen years and can't wait to share with you what makes it so special.

Originally from the East Coast, we used to take Eva hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, kayaking in the Atlantic and enjoying some of the best restaurants and cultural activities in New York City. Suffice to say, it took a truly magical place to uproot us.

We hear from folks all the time that Alaska is "on their bucket list", but the only way they know of to experience it is on a cruise. Cruises can be great, but to even scratch the surface of a state as large as 1/3 of the US, you need get off the ship! We can help you create a bucket-list worthy Alaskan vacation that will have you coming back year after year.

Why they chose this property

Our cabin in Halibut Cove is a magical place, surrounded by the ocean and the mountains. After exploring Alaska for seventeen years, we knew this is the place where our family needed to be. The creature comforts of the mainland tucked within the serenity of the Alaskan wilderness make for the best retreat away from home, allowing you to relax in the midnight sun after a day of hiking and exploring.
