About this property

Great family holiday house with plenty of room

Spacious welcoming 4 bedroom home with plenty of room for family and friends.
Great catering kitchen and wood fired pizza oven out on the large back terraced area.
Surrounded by bush, yet very open and sunny, you will see the many tuis and woodpigeons that take refuge in the reserve and bush of Wilma road.
The property is just a short stroll across the walk way to the Ostend village where you will find the Saturday's local market as well as several retail shops , the supermarket, takeaways, coffee etc...
Big front lawn with veggie garden.
Various private areas to take time out and relax.
It is a 20 minute walk down to Palm beach or a couple of minutes drive also close to Kennedy point car ferry and launching ramp.
Put your feet up and enjoy that sun downer on the front veranda.
You can check out any time you like, but you will never want to leave.

During off season we offer three nights for the price of two from 1st May until 30th September. We also offer 7 nights for the price of 5 during the period 1st May to 30th September.
Special conditions:
Rates apply for up to 8 people.
Extra people are $55 per night each.
Maximum number of guests is 9

Min 2 night bookings required.
Min 3 night bookings over long weekends.

Pre wedding ladies weekend

We were a group of nine women who were getting together for a pre-wedding ladies weekend. Richard and Sharonagh gave us lots of tips on wineries and local amenities. Ostend is a short walk away over mangroves so we got to visit the markets on Saturday. Thoroughly recommend to Tantalus winery, we went there for a fancy lunch. On Friday night we made woodfired pizzas, The house is completely set up for large groups. Only bummer was the wifi didn’t work.

Palatial, but homely

Richard is a wealth of knowledge about not just the island, but the pirates who have inhabited it since the late 19th century. If you have a large group, or a sizeable family, looking to holiday at home then his place is the perfect spot to choose.

Lots of Character

Good place for a big group. Well equipped in the kitchen. Pizza oven and outdoor eating area very good. The 5th bedroom looked so cute with sea views but we couldn't use as we thought a bit unsafe with the ladder and hole in the floor and climbing down in the night to the bathroom. We didn't realise this when we booked. Lovely setting in the bush and beautiful bird life. Richard was so helpful with places to visit.

Midwinter weekend on Waiheke

It was perfect for our family of 4 generations. It is an older style home. No heat pump but wall heaters in bedrooms & wood burner in the living room. Firewood is downstairs in the carport but you have to bring it up yourself. Having the fireplace set & enough wood for the first night would have been a nice touch. If you stay in the summer heating would not be a consideration. Lovely & spacious & had everything we needed. Would love to come back in the summer

Nice and large property that suited our large family group well.

Nice and large property that suited our large family group well. Would recommend a rental car as was reasonably isolated. Able to walk to local shops/markets which was handy. We enjoyed having a pizza night using the outdoor pizza oven. The wood burner fire was handy also given that it was a wet winter weekend.

House was lovely both inside and out and perfect for a group.

House was lovely both inside and out and perfect for a group. Using the pizza oven was a great way to spend an evening catching up. House was surrounded by trees and bird life. Location is close to Ostend not Palm beach as advertised which was very confusing. However fun going to Saturday am markets a short walk across mangroves. Beds are pretty small in two double rooms - for a cosy couple rather than two singles.

Fantastic property, loads of space, very well equipped kitchen - thanks for the champagne, mineral water and olives - and beautiful grounds (freshly grown lettuce and herbs - amazing!)! Bumbled our way into using the pizza oven - great fun, and awesome pizzas! Great place to retreat with friends. Thank you.
