Beacon Cove and Station Pier
Don your designer gear and pound the palm-lined path that hugs the Port Melbourne foreshore, detouring past architect-designed houses and the high-rise apartment blocks overlooking Port Phillip Bay. Catch your breath in Beach Street's eateries and find a spot for a beachfront beverage, shared snacks and sea breezes. Splurge at Waterfront on the Pier and watch as the international cruise ships dock.

Back in Bay Street
Step back from the beach to Bay Street where you can shop up a storm at swanky boutiques, scout quality coffees at Balderdash and find the best French provisions at Noisette. Take your tastebuds further at Italian fine diner Ciao Cielo.

The Railway Club Hotel will set you up with frothy beers (boutique, naturally) and top-notch pub grub. A short detour west, the cellar-door bar at Starward Distillery will keep you in good spirits.

The main shopping precinct in Port Melbourne is along Bay Street. This boulevard has a central median strip dotted with palm trees and extends for over a kilometre, lined with restaurants, cafes, grand old pubs and boutiques. The Pier Hotel, located at the end of Bay Street and across the road from the beach, was first established on that site in 1840.

Port Melbourne has attractive beachfront areas with extensive areas of sand that offer safe bay swimming, supervised at times by local life saving clubs. The main Port Melbourne beach, located between Station Pier and Pickles Street, has a foreshore pathway lined with beautiful palm trees. Lagoon Pier, which extends 200 metres into the bay, is a popular spot for fishing. Between Princes Pier and Webb Dock is Sandridge Beach which is a quieter residential beach with a foreshore reserve that has playgrounds, picnic areas and BBQs.
