Perched on top of a hill and set on 10 Acres of bush you will find Hilltop Retreat!

This huge family home offers panoramic views over the Brynderwyn ranges, surrounding hills and countryside and distant views of Mangawhai and the Ocean - all only 5 minutes drive from Mangawhai Village AND Mangawhai Heads shops and our beautiful beach.

Here your group has total privacy and is ideal for 2 families or larger groups who want to get together for a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle but still very close to the shops cafes and all else that Mangawhai has to offer.

Whether you are coming for a summer break (beach is down the road or try sunbathing in privacy on the upper deck!) or a winter break (relax by the fire and enjoy a lovely winters meal and a few wines at the massive dining table) Hilltop Retreat will suit your needs.

Hilltop Retreat is purposely priced to be affordable for smaller groups but is also great value for larger groups too.

LINEN: Please note that other than pillows, duvets and duvet covers, linen is not included in the tariffs but can be rented for $25 per person, further details are provided in the 'Rooms and beds' section of the listing. If you wish to add linen, please add a note to your booking with what beds you wish to use so they can be made up. We have linen as an optional extra to make a more affordable holiday for those who wish to bring their own.

BOOKING PAYMENT: Although Bookabach/VRBO take your credit card details, all booking payments are made to Bach Stay NZ Limited who manage this property for the owners. Once your booking is approved, we will send you a payment email with a choice of credit card payment (a 3% surcharge applies) or bank transfer (no charges). Please note the amount stated as 'Deposit Paid at Property' on the Bookabach/VRBO quote is actually a refundable bond that will be collected as part of the accommodation payment, it is not collected at the property as the wording suggests.

It was nice and quiet. Lovely for a get away. Only problem is the beds.The beds is not comfy and the bath tub. The bath tub's tap is too far. You need to climb into the bath to open the tap. The jacuzzi bath is not working. The wi-fi. It is best to get unlimited wi-fi in order for the quests to stay longer. Other than that, the stay was nice. Very private which is awesome.

Hilltop Retreat
We loved our stay, everything we needed was available, my whole family loved the CD collection and fuse ball table. Great sized rooms with two living areas. Bach was in close proximity to supermarket, takeaways, petrol station, the Saturday market was an extra bonus.

What a wonderful place to stay. having 3 families in one play usually means that you are falling over each other , but here was so good . Quiet space upstairs and family gatherings down stairs. Would stay here again .

If you want to escape city life this property is our recommendation. Close to civilization but peaceful and relaxing. Spacious house, place for groups and big families. We realy had very relaxing time.

Thanks for a lovely getaway! The house was nice and cozy but at the same time, plenty of room for the kids to run around and enjoy themselves too! The Booze ball table was a real hit! Our mixed group of musician friends loved the fact that we could each get our own room with space to have some pre-gig practice in their large living / dining room without affecting neighbours. Note to owners… the septic system was tad squiffy & might require attention… adjacent to the parking spaces.

This place was so perfect for our extended family! 3 living areas meant that the children had their space and the adults had theirs. Two kitchens was a great for those of us with food allergies. Plenty of bedrooms, beds and a well equiped kitchen. Beautiful views from upstairs, a great DVD collection upstairs and Netflix downstairs. 5 mins drive to the beach and the place was lovely and clean. One thing to note is there is only one freezer so don't bring a heap of bulk frozen food like we did 😂 plenty of fridge space though!
