About this property

Hidden away in a quiet part of the coastal village of Kakanui our bach is the perfect spot for small families or couples alike.

The Hideaway provides a clean, modern and comfortable place to enjoy your Kakanui holiday, we hope you'll enjoy our wee bach as much as we do. The garden and house is child friendly and we have provided some toys and games for the kids to enjoy! There are 2 bedrooms one with a queen size bed and the other has bunks, we can also provide and camp stretcher for an extra $20 per night.

Warm and cosy, the heat pump provides quick, clean and efficient heating for the whole bach and there is an electric blanket on the queen bed and wheat bags/hot water bottles are provided for the bunks. We now have gas hot water - no waiting for the boiler to heat up!!

The drive provides off road parking with enough room for 2 vehicles.

There is a wonderful outdoors area which gets all day sun when you want to sit and relax, the garden is fully fenced and there is a BBQ for you to fire up and enjoy, help yourself to some herbs out of the herb garden and create something delicious! Or head into Oamaru (10 min coastal drive) for a choice of great cafes and restaurants. Head north to check out the award winning Riverstone or south to Moeraki and visit Fleur's Place. In fact you don't have to go very far at all as Kakanui has a fabulous cafe of its own, Coast serves some of the best fish and chips around, eat in or takeaway.

In a few minutes you can be strolling along the gorgeous Campbells Bay, swimming, fishing, surfing, whitebaiting or checking out the rock pools. Playing tennis, spotting penguins, seals and even the occasional dolphin, building sandcastles or playing a round of golf!

A great place to take some time out, relax and enjoy!

Cute and tidy

Great wee place, everything we needed and nothing we didn’t. Stunning spot, we will be back. Lots of hidden charges on bookabach, which was frustrating, but I can't complain as the bach was still a wee gem.

Small, clean,comfortable, quiet Bach close to beach at Kakanui, 15 minutes from Oamaru

The Hideaway is clean, comfortable and quiet. close to a beach and 20 minutes drive from the Little Blue Penguins and beautiful buildings of Oamaru and the Steampunk museum.

Needs work

Property was tired, and was very damp. Property requires a good clean which was disappointing given a cleaning fee is charged on top of the night rate (not on listing). Would have been useful if NO wifi was mentioned in the listing as was expected given the property was advertised as being modern.

A little out of Oamaru but easily found this is a great bach. It was beautifully clean and fresh. Less than 2 mins and you can see the sea and watch the avid white baiters at work. Highly recommend.

Neat little Bach

Cute and tidy but small batch for our family getaway. Excellent gas hot water pressure and working heat pump helped to keep drafts at bay but single glazed crying windows in winter made quite a mess. Overall, a good place to crash after a busy day of activity 👍

Quaint beachstay getaway

The property was perfect for our short stay. Great location by the beach and so close to Oamaru. The house was very comfortable, cosy and beachlike. All amenities were provided - could do with a knifesharpener. Thanks.

Classic Kiwi Bach

A lovely little bach in the classic kiwi style! Basic, but everything you need for a comfortable stay. The heatpump in the living area kept it warm enough, even in winter. Electric blankets also helped!! Great communication from the owner, easy contactless check-in, super clean bach.
