Farm Life
We found our time there very relaxed and comfortable. The area is extremely pleasant, and very easy to access. There are plenty of places to see in a reasonabley close proximity and can highly recommed a trip to Raglan and the Bridal Veil Falls. The pleasant nature of Pam and Malcolm made us feel very comfortable and the tour of the farm is well worth the time. Thoroughly enjoyed our sty and highly recommend taking the time to view it.

Absolute NZ !
The cottage and farm surroundings are exactly as detailed - private and quiet - but with Pam and Malcolm going about their farming next door, they are on hand if needed. We sat on the balcony sipping Sav before getting all physical and walking up the hill and across the fields, where we sat looking at the amazing views. A real get away from it all place - but at the same time with everything you need in the cottage - comfy bed, big new fridge, modern cooker and excellent shower. 100% recommended!

Lovely little get away
Real treat to be welcomed down the driveway by new season lambs and their mums. Hosts were really nice, great communication before, during and at the end of our stay. Accommodation was a first rate, old world charming little cottage with modern conveniences. Would definitely stay here again. A+++

Peace and Tranquillity
We were very happy staying here and would love to visit again one day. The farm is way out the back and far away from noise, pollution etc. We loved the birdsong, and working farm sounds. The cottage is very cosy & cute, well maintained and historic. Our hosts were very welcoming and looked after us well. All in all we could highly recommend this property for those wanting a peaceful few days away from it all.

In general the property is nice and peaceful. The place is a little bit far from the city. The house is complete with facilities and free wifi. The only concerned that we have are the following: no security lock especially on the windows for anyone can just come in especially when we are sleeping at night. No key so we can lock the door when we want to leave stuff when we are away. Need to ask for water to be heated in the bathroom since the owner has to replace the gas tank. The pressure of water in the kitchen sink is too strong that we have to find ways not to spill water. It’s a peaceful place good for those who want to escape city life though. The owner is very responsive to our need and so is recommendable.

Little piece of heaven
Despite the cyclone, the area of the cottage was clear & stunning. Sitting in amongst beautiful mature indigenous trees, the verandah is a haven to sit on. Inside the cottage everything is finished to the highest standard and home from home. Delightful hosts. We shall certainly return.

Wonderful and peaceful cottage
Listing does not do the cottage justice, set off the beaten track, but well worth the travel. Gorgeous farmland, bird life and a warm atmosphere. Everything you need for a getaway just bring yourselves and food. We stayed in winter and can't wait until summer to see this cottage again. Highly recommend.

A “gem” that sits at the end of this gravel road
WOW. We have just stayed there for 9 days and didn’t, regret one minute of it. Couldn’t believe how well Pam and Malcolm have set this cottage up especially for the “light” travellers. Bring food only as cottage has everything yes everything you will need, linen, cutlery, toiletries, appliances galore. Very comfy bed and pillows so you get a good night’s rest Rate this place 9 out of 10 not given lightly as we have travelled many places around the world. If you have something to complain about you should try some Akl motels charging double the costs which I would rate 4to5 out of 10

Comfortable, peaceful and relaxing
My husband and I had a lovely 6 night stay at Pam and Malcolm's farm cottage. The cottage has everything you need comfortable bed with luxury linen. The kitchen is well equipped and we really enjoyed a glass of wine on verandah on the comfortable cape cod chairs. There is plenty to do in the area with the Hamilton gardens an easy drive away. There are lots of options for walks in the area, we really enjoyed the walks in the Hakarimata Reserve. Pam was also very helpful on suggestions. As it is a working farm the farm tour with Malcolm was a great way to see the property. We also enjoyed the dips in the pool to cool off. Overall we came away relaxed and rejuvenated. Thank you Pam and Malcolm.

About the host

Host profile image
Malcolm was born and raised on Harding Farm . His parents settled on this farm after World War 2, his father was a returned servicemen and his mother a nurse. Malcolm and his brother and two sisters grew up here and their families return here often to enjoy the open spaces and freedom with their own families.
Malcolm and I raised our two sons here and they are very attached to this special place as we all are. Anderson Cottage was built in 1910 and was used by the police as a small administration block. It was moved to the farm in 1969 so that Malcolm's mum Alison could have somewhere to put up her weaving loom and to put all her wool.
We renovated the cottage and added the deck, bathroom and kitchen in 2010, and have been running it as an Airbnb rental ever since. Both of us enjoy showing our guests some real New Zealand hospitality and at the same time let them enjoy the outdoor life and farm surrounds.

Why they chose this property

We offer our guests a unique NZ experience when they stay with us. They are often happy to join in with farm activities such as feeding out to stock, or feeding young orphaned lambs by bottle.
There is a peaceful and serene atmosphere that is very relaxing, combined with the bird song and native birds that roost and fly around the garden , it is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of cities and towns.
Hamilton is a 35 minute drive and has a world class themed garden area that is one of the most admired sites in the Waikato region, with the exception of Hobbiton, of course.

What makes this property unique

Anderson Cottage is situated on a picturesque farm on the edge of a QE2 covenanted native bush area with large podocarp trees and many native bird species that fly around and in and out of our garden. Our sheep and beef farm tour has received many wonderful recommendations from our guests and is a unique aspect to this farm.
Most of our guests have commented on how lovely it was to be able to sit out on the cottage deck and hear birds singing all around them.
Others have enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and total lack of traffic noise.
We are located centrally for both the west coast beaches and within an easy drive out to the east coast beaches like Waihi Beach.
Hamilton and other surrounding areas are a less than 35 minutes away and other all shopping and tourist attractions .
