About this property
'Allambee' Heritage cottage in trendy South Hobart
Summary:
Welcome to Allambee - an aboriginal term meaning ‘to stay a while’. The cottage is heritage listed stemming from the 1850’s Victorian Rustic Gothic period and lovingly transformed into guest accommodation sleeping up to 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. Allambee is easy walking distance to the Hobart CBD - you can take the picturesque rivulet walk in under 20 minutes. Enjoy a wine on the front verandah or breakfast at nearby Bear With Me cafe - a unique place to stay during your time in Hobart.
The Space:
Allambee is a 2 bedroom heritage-listed cottage in trendy South Hobart, only a few km away from the Hobart CBD, Salamanca Place and the wharf precinct. South Hobart is positioned at the gateway to Mount Wellington, or 'Kunanyi' as it is known in Aboriginal.
We have lovingly filled the cottage with art, many of which is local and indigenous. It has been set up to feel homely and with all the creature comforts to make the cottage a home away from home. Downstairs you will find the kitchen and dining area, a separate lounge room and bathroom.
The stairs will take you up to two bedrooms with raked ceilings, one of which is an open loft style ('loft-style' meaning no door, however the bed is tucked behind a nib wall and completely private from the other room which has a door). Both are furnished with queen beds.
Outside is a gorgeous courtyard with a hammock seat and a dining setting to enjoy. There is free, off-street parking available for one vehicle.
Allambee is in the same block as the Hill Street grocer - a firm favourite with locals with everything needed to cook up a storm. They also have many pre-prepared meals and salads if you like to keep it simple. The South Hobart shopping precinct is also home to a florist, chemist, butcher, florist and a number of superb cafes plus more. There are also two op-shops if you love a bargain - the All-Saints church op shop across the road is well worth a visit although note they are not open every day. Everything you could possibly need is on your doorstep!
Take the picturesque Rivulet track into the CBD in around 20 minutes - the cottage is super convenient to all inner-city attractions without needing a car.
Guest Access:
Guests have full access to the entire property to enjoy during their stay.
The Neighborhood:
South Hobart is only a few km from the Hobart CBD and can be easily accessed by car or on foot via the scenic Rivulet Track. There is a shopping precinct with a convenience store (Hill Street Grocer - delicious!), cafes (Bear With Me and Ginger Brown), a butcher, post office, pharmacy and op shops only a minutes' walk from the cottage.
Getting Around:
Hobart is super convenient to get around by hire car, taxi, bus or Uber or simply walk!
Interaction with Guests:
Guests are left to enjoy the property in private, however help is only a message or phone call away.
