Home away from home

The property was handy to the beach. We appreciated the use of the bikes and kayaks supplied by the property. The loction of the property made exploring the surrounding beaches a pleasure. The unit was comfortable and roomy.

Dirty house

The house was dirty, we were reluctant to touch anything! The curtains in the kitchen living area were hanging down from the panel and had no stopper so came off when we pulled them. The rail was extremely dirty. The kitchen is very basic, not even a coffee plunger. The microwave is on top of a fridge so difficult and unsafe for anyone under 5’7”. And we had very tepid showers, I understand the water conservation issue but when you have paying customers I think the showers should be warm. I skipped a shower twice because it was too cold.

Great little getaway

Easy Bach. Simple but has what you need. Awesome location. A very short walk to beach. Great for our kids they loved the bunk beds!

Which door?

The only issue I had was opening the door. The instructions were clear but the numbering on the doors were not so clear. It took a little while to unlock the property and get inside. Other than our stay went well. Thank you.

Tidy 2nd floor bach in an excellent location

Clean, tidy little bach in an excellent location. Perfect for what we were looking for. Excellent price. Just a little dated and with a few items that should be replaced (cracked plates and chairs missing feet leaving them unsteady).

Matapouri Holiday Home

Stayed in unit 2. Was clean but would be more appealing if it was updated. There were a few things that needed repairing or replacing like sliding door, window latches, shower box and other little things. Unit is on second level and is not suitable for toddlers as they cannot safety play on deck. Would have been less stressful if there were gates on second level to contain them. Railing was like a ladder for our grGreat location but accommodation was disappointing. Would stay there again

Good for the price. Perfect for family and friends getaway weekend. Have stayed before in front unit Several things around the house need urgent attention. Could be much cleaner. We love it but it it is tired, needs some loving cleaning, and a handyman

Great place to stay, beautiful beach across the road, kids loved the kayaks

Loved staying here kids had a great time, lots of fun on the tandom bikes and kayaks, recommend the day trip to poor nights island out from Tutakaka marina so worth the trip.

Lovely Easter break

Our stay was fantastic, accommodated our family of 3 young adults & Mum & Dad. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The decor is traditional Bach style, beds and bunks were comfortable, amazing water pressure in the shower. Walk to the dairy/takeaway shop and beach. Great walks around the headland with plenty of stairs, though rewarded with amazing views. We had to drive to Tutukaka to launch our big boat which is a drive over the hill, smaller boats could be launched in the estuary at high tide with a 4wd.

Unexpected stay

We had a lovely time while staying at this batch. There was a whole house, that was broken up into little units, accessible by keys. It was my wife's university graduation in Whanagrei, so wanted to stay close to the beach for enjoyment. This batch ticked all the boxes. However, where we ran into problems, was after we had left, we received a not very well thought out email from the owners, stating that we used more than one unit - which seemed unlikely, as there are separate keys to all units, as the owners had been told by neighbors that they saw us using more than one area. We held a BBQ in the evening on the grass outside, and everyone left later on. We left the batch in the same condition upon entry, had the amount of people (one less) that we booked in, stay the night. A warning to any other potential guests, our stay was good, but was greeted by a unprofessional email and no checking taken to see what happened.. Watch out for the neighbors perhaps.

Weekend getaway

My sister in-law and I stayed with our children aged between 4 and 10. A great time was had by all. We loved having the use of kayaks and a paddle board too. Will definitely be back.
