About this property

Mangarara Station Eco Lodge

Enjoy precious uninterrupted time with family and friends while exploring a diverse farming enterprise, soaking up the natural wonders or helping yourself to the seasonal vegetables from the Lodge gardens.
Relax to the sounds of bird life on Horseshoe Lake and grazing farm animals, while unwinding on the sheltered deck. Or snuggle in by the open fire and indulge yourself with a good book while sipping some of Hawkes Bay's best.

Witness the breath-taking night sky, kayak on Horseshoe Lake wildlife reserve. Walk or bike the farm tracks and forest trails, join in farm activities or take a guided tour as we tend the animals. Dine on delicious food grown with integrity on The Family Farm. Explore the local beaches, rivers, wineries and restaurants. So much to see and do (or do nothing at all)... no wonder people always want to stay longer..

The Eco Lodge is spacious enough to accommodate 17 people and caters for families and groups. Five bedrooms, each with French doors leading to the expansive deck, provide instant access and views of the spectacular lakeside setting. There are three bathrooms and three showers with tiling that is an artwork in itself.
The heart of the building is a light and spacious modern farmhouse kitchen and large luxurious living area with a stunning ‘Tadelakt’ plastered open fireplace. Enjoy the outdoor entertaining area with pizza oven and fire pit.

As the building has been refurbished using timber grown and milled on the farm, and locally made and recycled products, it offers a uniquely natural accommodation experience.”

By staying at Mangarara Eco Lodge you help enable families associated with Cranford Hospice, Little Elms, Salvation Army and Womans Refuge Napier some invaluable time out.

Everything’s covered
Great spot for the extended family, Greg and Rachel were really attentive, doing their utmost to ensure we enjoyed ourselves despite the weather. There was plenty of space for our large group and the lodge had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. Having your own private lake is a bonus you can never really dream of, we certainly made the most of it with the kayaks on hand. Thank you for a lovely experience!

The Lodge is an amazing place to stay with amazing views across the lake. The Lodge is spacious with all the mod cons but very warm and welcoming. It really felt like our own little bit of paradise. Greg and Rachel were very friendly and happy to show us round the farm and conservation area. Theres plenty for the whole family to do. Great indoor and outdoor entertainment areas - we will be returning with a group of friends!

Special weekend stay in the most beautifil spot.
We loved the quiet but beautiful aspect. Being able to wake up with a view of the lake and the sun appearing over the island was spectacular. Large, well stocked accommodation. Would have liked to have had the use of a microwave and for there to have been a toilet inside the sleepout but other than that it was wonderful.

The perfect hideout from urban chaos
We were a group of 5 families with young kids and adventurous adults from Auckand. While looking to find accomodation in Hawkes Bay, Mangarara Eco Lodge was the only on that matched our number and proximity to great attractions. I must say we were pretty lucky to have secured the place on the dates. It was anamazing place with mesmerising views out to a serene lake and the peaceful hills. Our group enjoyed every bit of it, be it the big kitchen, the fire place in the lounge, the kayaking and the best of all the farm tours at 8 am. Tim and Clare were awesome hosts in the absence of The Harts. It was an experience worth every penny. If the hosts were happy with us, we would return the next time we plan a trip to Hawkes Bay. Best regards Prakash

When you first walk into the house - the view will take your breath away. It is a haven for city dwellers. Beautiful flowers in every room. So much bird life and peace. Greg took the kids around the farm where they fed the animals and even moved stock. The house is set up so well - great quality plates, mugs, glasses, linen - in fact great quality pretty much everything!
