About this property

Ohope Beach Cottage, so close to the beach!

The cottage offers a great beach retreat or family holiday accomodation in Ohope. It is ideal for an easy, relaxed stay in lovely Ohope and can be handy place for extra guests to stay here at the beach. Access to the beach through the neighbouring reserve is less than 50m, without crossing the road, making it great for kids. It is all onn one level so easy for less mobile people.

The cottage is within easy walking distance to cafes, restaurants, the local art gallery, the Ohope Surf Club and great coastal and bush walking tracks making it a great spot to enjoy all that Ohope has to offer.

The cottage is self-contained, with a car park out the front, making it easy to come and go as you please. The cottage has also recently been renovated making it modern, clean and simple so that you can have a relaxing and comfortable stay.


The property is close to the road and while we have tried to minimize the road noise with double glazed windows and trees, please expect some traffic noise.

The pullout sofa/bed is no longer in the living area so the cottage sleeps 4 not 5 people.There is a two seater sofa in lounge now.

We chose to stay at the Beach Cottage because of its locality and it didn't let us down. It was walkable distance from everything we wanted. We had a great stay.

Great host and location
We had a wonderful time in Ohope and the kids loved being able to walk out on to the beach. The property is clear about its pros and cons and it suited us perfectly for our stay.

This accommodation was perfect for the purpose of our stay. Friendly owners and warm, cosy and comfortable accommodation. Walking distance to beach for walks and swims and top coffee spots in Ohope. Brilliant.

Communication was prompt and a smooth check in and check out process. I was lucky enough to meet Kath, who is a lovely lady and a very welcoming host. The cottage was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for the weekend. The property is situated next to a great little walkway to the beach and was handy to find a 4 square just down the road. Although the weather during our stay wasn't great, We enjoyed our home away from home family/sports weekend. Thank you Kath, we hope to return in the near future to enjoy the summer weather :)

Holiday stay
Not really that suitable to stay in all day because of the weather and with a little boy. Property not overly clean and wasn't that impressed wasn't able to move in until 4.00pm on Saturday. Very noisy as close to the road and wasn't pleased about being blocked in by your visitors.I thought we had to keep the driveway clear, doesn't that apply to your visitors.

Ohope Cottage
Cottage had everything we needed for our short stay. We would have appreciated more hangers/hooks or places to dry towels as it was stated a one towel per person and there was nowhere dry to hang them. We didn' t realise how close the cottage was to the main road so road noise was a problem for us especially in the early morning (maybe a few packets of complimentary ear plugs?) . It might be time they invested in a new mattress as it didn't give us the best sleep. However the cottage is super close to the beach access and Ohope itself has nice cafes and superb mexican restaurant Caldera. Number one tip is try the pastries at the Four Square!

Great location, pity about the service
First the good - the bach is located in a great spot, right next to the beach. Although close to the road, there is very little night-time traffic, so it didn't bother us. Now the bad - after we checked in, we noticed there was no dish-washing detergent. We advised the host who told us there was a 4Square just down the road, not apologising at all. On the second morning of our stay, hot water ran out during our showers. Upon investigating, we found that there was only one gas bottle, and this was empty. We advised the host by both email and phone, but did not receive a response until after we had left, when she said she was "very sorry".
