The property owners could not have been more attentive, from quickly responding to questions before our trip with helpful and detailed information to quickly responding to a question while we were at the property. Five stars for customer service, for sure!
The interior of the house was as pictured. Everything had clearly been cleaned before our arrival, though we found a couple of pans that needed to be re-washed before using. I assume this was previous guests using/washing-not-so-well/putting away. I don't think the owners could do anything to prevent that sort of thing. There were a lot of flies in the house the first couple of days we were there - we guessed maybe doors were left open while cleaning/airing out the house between guests. I'm sure this is necessary, especially right now, but it wasn't super pleasant. There were also some small sugar ants in the kitchen. I know well that there is almost nothing you can do to prevent this and it certainly isn't a reflection of cleanliness, just something to know/be prepared for during summer months.
The pool was somewhat of a disappointment. The picture of the pool in the listing made it seem bigger than it actually is, at least to me. The water was cloudy, not clear. We brought diving toys for our kids to use and ended up taking them out because we couldn't see them. We added the pool chemicals the owners asked us to add while we were there and were very careful about regular bathroom breaks for the kids, but it never improved. It's also helpful to know that it is an above ground pool, therefore the same depth all the way around. Our youngest (6 years old) wasn't quite tall enough to stand with his head above water, which just meant we needed to be even more thoughtful about pool usage. Just a good thing to know if you're planning to use the pool and you have younger kids.
The last thing to note is that the property owners or others visited the property a couple of times while we were there. Once to bring in the garbage can. Once to access the garage space. We didn't have any interactions with them, but they were there a couple of times. In the check-in information they clearly state that the owner/pool maintenance person/handyman may need to access the garage during your stay. It didn't cause any alarm when we saw them, but it did make our stay there feel a little less private. Again, just a helpful thing to know when considering this house. Overall, the experience was good.
