Walkers Retreat at Mataikona

Walker's retreat is a great private bach sitting on the beach, this bach is off the grid but still has all the comforts of home with solar power and battery bank, the golf course and Whakataki pub are 15 minutes drive away. Have breakfast in the sun on the front deck over the sea and evening drinks to catch the last of the sun in the evening on the grass area out back.

On chilly evenings the house is very cosy with under floor heating.

Please take your rubbish with you there is no rubbish collection at this property.

No 240 volt available at property, but heaps of USB outlets for charging phones and tablets.

Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

Great views - perfect for a relaxing weekend

We really enjoyed our time at Mataikona! It was super relaxing and the beach is just across the road. Hosts were super lovely and welcoming :)

Beautiful sunrises, easy to get to. The bed is extremely comfortable with lovely linen. Would highly recommend this idealic spot for a relaxing weekend.

Great little bach on the beach.

Brilliant location right across the road from the beach. Comfy bed and great setup. Had a few issues with the heating on the first night due to low battery from previous guests which was a bit of a shame, luckily loads of blankets to keep me warm.

Fab Bach and location

We had a wonderful time at Walkers Retreat. We had wonderful weather, too. It was wonderful seeing the beach from the lounge and bedroom window. Such a treat. Highly recommend it.

The Road access was a bit daunting for the unprepared traveller. Property was awesome comfy, clean and cosy and being so close to the beach was lovely.

Off grid on easy mode (in a good way!)

Awesome little getaway spot. The cabin was well equiped and very cosy. We had a great time just relaxing, exploring the prehistoric coastline, and retreating from our city lives for the weekend. Thank you so much again for having us! Will definitely look to make a return at some point for another break :)

Mataikana

An awesome property, off the beaten track for those who enjoy solitude/peace and quiet with the ocean straight across the road. Most suitable for a couple, four at a squeeze. Could pitch a tent out the back. It is a solar heated property with gas cooking, no microwave. We thoroughly enjoyed this location and highly recommend it to those who need space.

Not clean had to pay cleaning fee but we cleaned shower bedroom one rubbish bag no fan

House nice just lack of power no heater no microwave fold out bed was very uncomfortable no fly spray rubbish bags as u got to take rubbish with u and I'm sorry I for got to take as we had to br out fast Owner parents on same property but overall nice people nice home just needs sum work thank u Roger

Getaway

Was nice being so close to the sea, and close for day trips to castle point, and riversdale Beach. Nice clean and comfortable. Note it is on the owners property so not as private as we usually like.

Great stay

Rogers parents were friendly and really helpful.The location was beautiful but the road in was in the process of being repaired and quite roigh in places. The accommodation was comfortable but if you need the toilet at night, you have to go out to the bathroom, which can be cold. The bathroom is modern and spacious.
