About this property

Relaxing cosy 1950's family beach house 1 block back from the beautiful beach.

The beach house is perfectly suited to families, wheelchair accessible and pet friendly with a fully fenced section a swing set and tree house in the back yard. Sit outside and listen to the waves crashing on the soft white sand a block away. Waikouaiti has a couple of taverns, Fish and Chip/ Chinese takeaway, cafe, bakery, petrol and dairy. A short drive down the road is another gorgeous beach of Karitane or wander a bit further to the Moeraki Boulders or historic town of Oamaru. Dunedin is 30min away.

Families preferred.
Pets allowed with prior approval as long as you clean up after them.
Wheelchair accessible please enquire.
Supply own linen and towels, self catering.


NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you must: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels); remove all rubbish from the property. Leave it as you found it ready for the next guests.
Bedroom 1 & 2: one queen bed, pillows, electric blanket, duvet and blanket provided.
Bedroom 3: two sets of bunks (sleeps 4) pillows, duvets, blankets supplied.
Bathroom 1: Bath, toilet, sink, heater, heated towel rail, recently updated.

A tree house and swing/ slide in the fully fenced yard.

Great Pet Friendly Location
Great kiwi bach with great interior styling. Always appreciate it when owners allow pets as a holiday is so much easier when you can take the pooch with you, and he loved the fenced back yard and beach to go exploring on!

Well equipped home for a stay at the beach. Secure yard for the dog to explore, (or children). Thoughtful decor throughout. Quick and clear communication with host most helpful. Close to the beach. Locals are friendly.

Awesome spot
We stayed for a few nights and what a cracking place. All the amenities you need for a weekend away, would definitely consider this place for a longer stay in the future. Clean house, great location, five minutes from the beach. We really didn’t need much more! Fully enclosed garden which our dog appreciated, and a great log burner to keep us warm and cosy in the evening.

Waikouaiti Fantail
Our third visit here, so speaks for itself. Perfect access to walks/beach for the dog - backyard well fenced. Love seeing the horses being exercised/trained on the beach. 5 minutes to shops; 10 to gorgeous Karitane; 15 to Palmerston. And, when the roads are not under repair, 30 minutes to Dunedin. We hope to be back again, soon

Lovely place to stay
Good fire, comfortable, good amenities except the vacuum cleaner needs servicing and the filters cleaned and a note to tenants saying ‘after you have used the cleaner, empty it.’ Would be good if tenants filled the wood boxes. We didn’t kill the rabbit on the driveway, by the way. Overall really neat place and great walks and scenery.

Problem with book a batch
Great place lovely home. Will come again. Book a batch web site difficult. Wanted to extend stay. Had to go direct to owners for this. It would have been much easier to have direct contact with owners without the hassle and stuff up with book a batch. Owners were very helpful and accommodating.

Why they chose this property

We purchased Fantail Folly after falling in love with the house, beach and area when we stayed there a couple of times with our family. It was hard to find pet friendly fully fenced accommodation and this ticks all the boxes.

What makes this property unique

Peaceful and relaxing beach house with amenities close by in the township of Waikouaiti. Snuggle by the fire in the winter or sit in the garden in the sunshine in the summer and watch the cheeky Fantails flying around.
