Huge ocean views and west coast vistas

Ahu, translated from Maori as 'sacred mound' holds a Jaw-dropping location overlooking the ocean horizon and all the way to the north. Easy level access straight to the front door perches you on the spot for awesome long sunsets over a glass of wine. Stroll to the Mercer Bay cliffs to catch the green flash at sunset. Check the surf to plan your day or simply turn left or right at the gate and you are on the world-famous Hillary Trail. A 5 minute drive downhill takes you to Piha with shop, eateries, art gallery, and of course the beach. A 5 minute drive in the opposite direction gets you to karekare, a beach made famous in numerous films. Or take a 30 minute downhill track to Karekare Beach and explore remote Whatipu beyond. Ahu is blessed by its location close to the Mercer Bay Loop which leads to Comans Track and Karekare.

Cosy old bach in a Stunning location
Really lovely 4 nights in this eclectic good old kiwi bach. Really cosy and homey with everything you need. It was great being able to bring my dog, although please note it's not fully fenced for those who have dogs who like to explore. Leena was excellent to deal with and very responsive. The view truly is gorgeous and I was very content just sitting on the deck looking at it and reading. Beach just down the Rd for some good walks and a nice walk to the Kitekite Waterfall as well. Visiting family in Auckland (from Ireland) over Christmas and New Year, we wanted a quiet few days by ourselves to recharge the batteries and couldn’t have found a better spot. Loved the views, the nearby hiking, and the beach. Great communication from hosts. Thank you!

Ahu is a nostalgic Aotearoa dream
Lovely getaway. Was for family, ended up being myself and teenage son. Perfect!The sea air, the west coast wind, the view to die for and a really well set up little bach which obviously is loved.Hosts were easy to communicate with. Need to bring all supplies as store closes 4pm - not issue, just be prepared.

We had a weekend away to chill and take a break from day-to-day busyness. This was the perfect location with an amazing view to the beach and everything we needed to do nothing. The fire had been set ready for us to light, perfect for the wet winter weekend.

A lovely surprise
The sweetest bach, had everything we needed. We were warm and cosy. Stunning views, comfy bed and fire at night was perfect. We would stay again definately Uniquely kiwi and reminds me of my childhood.

One of our favourites! Extremely relaxing and cosy. The owner extremely kindly and immediately took the trip out from town to rescue us when we managed to lock ourselves out of the bathroom! He was far nicer than we deserved, lol.

This is such a cute little authentic bach. It was laid back and so welcoming. What a stunning view. Great location with great walks around the corner. Enjoyed a nice meal at the RSA and great walks along the beach and to the waterfalls. Bach had everything we needed. The dog came too and loved it. Do go and enjoy this lovely wee bach.
