About this property

Craypot Cottage - Getaway from town or city. Beachfront cottage.

A cute cottage on a 1.85 hectare property very private (we live in the main house on the other side of the property)
Relax in a rural setting lots of trees expansive lawn and a short stroll down a path to the beach and rock pools at low tide. (sandy swimming beach 5 mins drive) Great for star gazing on a clear night. No wifi or T.V.
Riversdale Beach has a store with basic groceries, burgers, takeaways, coffee,wine, and beer.
We love our special place in paradise and love sharing a unique part of New Zealand with others. A number of interesting garden artworks can be seen in the large rustic garden.
Castlepoint is a 40 minute drive away - the lighthouse can be seen flashing at night from the property.
Craypot Cottage is situated on a working farm so please follow the signs regarding driving very slowly through the yards and 30 km elsewhere to safeguard animals and keep down dust in dry weather.
Riversdale Beach has lovely walks along the beach and walkways up hills wandering through the new subdivision and southern beach walkway for those wanting a decent climb.
Special conditions:
Rural property. No oven but great microwave and electric cooktop. BBQ at the cottage under cover. Washing machine available at main house for long stays.

Extras: Please leave the cottage as you found it. We don't add a cleaning surcharge. Empty fridge and take away all food and rubbish.

Cosy and comfortable bach with wonderful sculpture on the property and friendly hosts. Lovely to wake to the sound of magpies one day and a beautiful sunrise the next. A great place to relax and read books. Friendly local shop owners too

Stayed here about 3 years ago and i still love it. The cottage is very welcoming and the beds are comfortable. Its also very private with lots of grounds and an intetesting part of the beach to explote. Pip and Geoff? are lovely hosts and a pleasure to talk to.

It was the perfect place for a lovely relaxing New Year’s Eve celebration. The weather wasn’t the best but the cottage felt cosy and had everything we needed, we could also still enjoy walks on the beach. Great hosts and a great property, would love to stay again.

We had a wonderful time. My partner and I took the train from Masterton and cycled to the cottage. Directions were precise and easy to follow, hosts lovely and attentive. The place is beautiful and even though it rained we enjoyed the BBQ on the gallery and walls on the beach.. loved their dog too!

Beautiful and peaceful location
This was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Just birdsong and the sound of the sea, and a fabulous night sky. The cottage was comfortable & warm, and had everything we needed. It feels secluded, being at one end of the property, though with a view of the sea. We enjoyed our walks on the deserted beach. Pip was easy to communicate with & quick to respond. We loved our stay there and will be back.
