About this property
Peaceful, beautiful setting for this spacious, convenient and modern Lodge
A light, airy space, all on the ground floor and accessible to those with mobility limits. The entry leads to a combined kitchen diner and lounge with sliding doors to the expansive garden. Heating is by underfloor heating, topped up if needed with electric heaters in each room. The house design means that the rooms stay comfortable even in the hot summer days. Outside has large lawns, games, barbeque area, seating, fabulous views and protected bush. Because of our close proximity to Tawharanui Park we are graced by many native bird species which are rare in other places.
The two bedrooms and one bathroom are on the ground floor and accessible to those with mobility limits. Flexible sleeping arrangements mean that Bedroom 1 can be two singles or a Super King Double, Bedroom 2 is a queen double. The large bathroom has a walk-in shower, hand basin, toilet and heated shower rail and toiletries all provided.
Both bedrooms have built in wardrobes and there are spare linen and towels, beach towels and extras to make your stay convenient, and if you have forgotten essentials such as toothpaste, we have an honesty box system with these ready for you. Cots (and linen etc) are also available on request.
The lodge is set in lawned and sculpted gardens with bush walks for the more adventurous. Look out onto Kawau Island and the sea.
Take a stroll to the end of the drive for the Christian Bay beach, or a short drive to some of New Zealand's most beautiful beaches and reserves including Anchor Bay on the Tawharanui Peninsula, Omaha, Goat Island Marine Reserve, Te Arai and Pakiri.
Locally you will find a plethora of vineyards, breweries, cafes and restaurants.
The Matakana Saturday market is a must, and the boutique 3 screen cinema is lovely.
We are conveniently close to some of the most popular wedding venues in the area if that is why you are visiting - but make sure you plan for longer to fully appreciate the area!
If you love art there are galleries and sculpture trails. There is golf at Warkworth and Omaha, sailing, diving and any water sport you can imagine. There are many walking tracks and reserves to be found locally too.
The Lodge is adjoined to Ruru Lodge (above) and the hosts main residence.
The space is tranquil and to keep this we do not accept bookings for party occasions.
