About this property
Vancouver's Musical House
Airbnb superhost and top 1% of homes.
Indulge in a vintage essence house fully renovated to accommodate a modern cozy atmosphere. This house was built in the 30’s with the original hardwood floors still intact. Enjoy the nearby park and the beautiful cherry blossoms in the neighbourhood during spring time. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck while the hummingbirds come for a visit. A place to unwind but also well served by public transportation if you want to wander around and discover our beautiful Vancouver.
The house was built in 1933 and its first location was at UBC (University of British Columbia) for veterans returning after the war. Then, in 1949, it was transported to this location where my grandpa handcrafted the beautiful musical note railings and a sauna. Sadly, the sauna did not survive over the decades.
The house represents a love story, as the musical details are a homage to my grandma, who was a beloved concert pianist and singer in the Finnish community. They left their native Finland to venture to Canada for a better life together and the house has been in my family now for three generations, and I hope to continue to cherish it down the line for the future.
My home has 2 bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen with a coffee maker, utensils for cooking your favorite homemade meals, and dishwasher.
The primary bedroom has a queen size bed with an Endy mattress and a wall mounted 57" TV.
The second bedroom has a pair of stacking twin sized beds that can be put side by side to become a double sized bed. Arrangement: it can be a twin bed (stacked) or a double bed (side by side). Note: the height of the mattresses are not the same so it wouldn’t be suitable bed for one person to stretch out width wise.
There is a full bathroom that has heated floors and a bath tub with his and her rain showers. The heated floors extend into the hallway and kitchen.
The living room has a couch that can become a queen size sofa bed, a dining table, and a 70" TV with Netflix ready for you to enjoy.
There is also a brand new stacked extra large washer and dryer available.
We welcome you to enjoy barbecuing and sunbathing on the rear deck and enjoy the hyacinths in the garden that were planted by my grandparents. They can be seen blooming every spring time.
There is a grocery store two blocks away that has an anytime fitness in the same complex.
We are located near Commercial Drive where you can discover many different restaurants, pubs, and bars. We are a 10 to 15 minute drive to Science World, Queen Elizabeth Park, Roger’s Arena, and BC Place.
Many bus lines serve our neighbourhood making it easy for you to get around the city.
There is timed and free parking on the street, see rules posted on the street signs. Across the street from the house is timed parking for 3hrs and there is free unlimited parking around kingcrest park. The driveway is available for a cost.
My calendar is usually open for a 3 month window. If you want to book for more than 90 days or further in the future then the 90 days please contact me directly so we can discuss it in detail.
