About this property
3 Bedroom 60s Retro by Alma Park
Accommodating family or friends, our 3 bedroom ground floor apartment is positioned to give you a cosmopolitan Melbourne experience. The spacious layout gives you space to hang out or retreat to the 3 good size bedrooms, which are quiet between solid brick walls and located towards the back of the block. While it’s roomy, this stay is really all about location… so close to the vibrant St Kilda culture, fabulous food, local events, transport to the city and Albert Park Lake.
Our place is in a small block of 6 apartments, located on the ground floor. It was built in the 1960s, so has a vintage vibe. The bedrooms have tinted windows for privacy while getting lovely sunshine, and with each featuring a study desk and wardrobe storage. The generous living and dining room has a fabulous 3-seater couch to laze about watching the 65inch smart TV, plus a 4-seater dining table for when you order share food, and you need to sit together. There’s a balcony overlooking the street, that’s perfect for enjoying the fresh air while shooting the breeze with a friend. The kitchen is totally vintage but fully equipped with everything you need to make breakfast, a toasted sandwich or a quick meal. The bathroom is light and bright and has a big bath for soaking or to put the kids in together, plus there’s a separate shower and combo washer/dryer. There’s also a much-needed separate toilet. There is untimed, unpaid street parking (with clearway Monday-Friday between 4.30-6.30pm), but it’s a first come first served option.
Have full access to the apartment including storage areas. Please note that it is a building of 6 apartments, so the entry foyer and staircase are communal, so you will hear noise of people coming and going.
St Kilda East is an eclectic suburb with the diversity of a Jewish community, young families, dog lovers, arts aficionados and indie aspirations. The perfect base to take advantage of the St Kilda lifestyle, within walking distance from all the iconic places to be seen or to see. Grab your coffee from the neighbouring Phoenician Café before heading to Brighton Road to catch the tram into the MCG, the Melbourne Concert Hall, the National Art Gallery of Victoria, Federation Square or the Regent Theatre. Walk across Brighton Road to enjoy the cafés and cakes along Acland Street, the iconic restaurants in Fitzroy Street or take in the Formula One or lakeside beauty of Albert Park Lake. Explore the St Kilda Foreshore for fine dining at Donovans or the Stokehouse, entertain the kids at Luna Park, catch a band at The Espy or the Palais Theatre or lap up the vibe of the St Kilda Festival. Head to Carlisle Street or Chapel Street for some local cuisine, or go all retro with a Hollywood blockbuster from another era at the Astor Cinema. If you want the pub culture, try Bridie O’Reilly’s, the Lucky Coq or the Dick Whittington on Chapel Street, and night clubs along Chapel Street and Commercial Road. Make your way to the King’s Domain and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for a concert on the lawn. For those who need a city base close to Masada Hospital, The Alfred Hospital and Cabrini Hospital (Malvern) when caring for family or friends, our stay is less than 10 minutes from these hospitals. For some delivered food, Uber Eats services the area.
