Our luxury coastal home was constructed to take advantage of the spectacular views of Thunder Cove Beach. This unique two storey beach house is located on the north shore in a quiet gated community. The multilevel 1500 square foot deck allows a treetop vantage point overlooking the beach, surf, lighthouses, sand dunes, and a natural spring fed pond.
Orion’s Porch is designed for family vacations, multi family, or couples to share. The first level allows for independent living with a kitchenette, fridge, seating area,,smart TV, dining table and a large deck with BBQ. There is a king sized master with a full ensuite bathroom. Our second bedroom has a queen sized bed. The third bedroom has double bunk beds with a pull out trundle bed. The family bathroom has a tub and shower arrangement. For your little ones, we have a new Pack ’n’ Play and convertible high chair available.
Upstairs, the spacious, fully equipped chef’s kitchen has granite countertops, beverage fridge, walk in pantry, stainless steel appliances, and a large island with a second sink and bar stools. The main living room features vaulted ceilings, a modern linear propane fireplace, large screen smart TV, and comfortable sectional with a queen sized pull out out bed. The kind sized master ensuite includes a beautiful soaker tub with its own chandelier. Enjoy the custom made fully tiled shower equipped with body jets and large rainforest shower. Enjoy sunsets from the expansive upper deck with multiple seating arrangements or retreat to The Snug, a cozy screened sunroom perfect for board games or entertaining.
The home is fully air conditioned and heated with high efficiency heat pumps and ceiling fans.
Outside, take advantage of the fire pit, lobster boiler, and picnic table. You will find everything you need for a day at the beach - portable folding chairs, wagon and toys, a beach tent shelter, and plenty of beach towels. After your beach adventures, the outdoor shower makes it easy to clean away the sand. Explore the magic forest filled with beach finds behind the cottage, or walk down to the pond.
A short walk along the scenic clifftop leads you to wooden stairs to Thunder Cove Beach, where you can walk along the pristine sand and enjoy nature’s sandstone art gallery. You can also drive over to Thunder Cove Road to drop off passengers and beach equipment before parking your car. This area of PEI is just a half hour drive to Cavendish and the National Seashore. Nearby, there are numerous golf courses, Cabot provincial Park, charming harbours at Malpeque and Stanley Bridge, kayaking and deep sea fishing. There are beautiful hiking trails and bike paths too. Throughout the season, enjoy numerous musical events, theatre productions, art galleries, and craft shops. Many community halls showcase ceilidhs, with local musicians providing family friendly traditional music and dance. Come in June when music is highlighted at intimate settings during the Small Halls Festival. Come in September when the Island celebrates its culinary excellence during the Fall Flavours Festival. Here you have wonderful venues to taste PEI’s finest fare from beachside clambakes to elegant gourmet dinners.
We are less than an hour’s drive to Charlottetown International Airport, and 45 minutes from the Confederation Bridge.

About the host
Hosted by Valerie Marien

With four children and seven grandchildren, we know that it can be a challenge to organize family holidays. We first visited PEI when our children were very young. Through the years, we returned to PEI and realized that this would be a wonderful place for us to build a coastal home. The dream came true when we found our property beside the beautiful natural pond overlooking the beach. This is our happy place! We are delighted to see the eagle soar right over our deck, hear the songbirds, and view waterfowl and muskrats in the pond. Watching the stars and planets appear after sunset is one of our favourite activities. The constellation, Orion, canbe hard to see during the summer months. We like to think that Orion comes down from his place in the sky and enjoys the spectacular view from our deck. Come and pull up a chair on Orion's Porch and create your own family memories.
Why they chose this property
At the end of a private road, our home faces the North Shore. As we walk along the deck to the entry door, we enjoy viewing the pond, the beach, and two lighthouses.
What makes this property unique
There are many areas in our home where you can find a quiet place to relax or play. Various seating areas provide shade or sun, long views or hideaways. The screened in porch, called 'The Snug,' is a very colourful and attractive room that all of our guests enjoy.
