About this property
The Paddo Modernist, Paddington IH
What We Love
Charming iron gates and lush greenery frame the entry to this inviting split-level Paddington terrace, welcoming you from a leafy street into a journey of refined elegance. Decorated throughout with a sublime collection of intriguing curiosities, dramatic art pieces, and mid-century furniture, this 4-bedroom, 5-bathroom home offers a truly unique and splendid escape in the heart of Paddington.
An inviting, cosy vibe welcomes you in the living room, where a modern study ambience awaits in a room bedecked with books and an exposed brick fireplace. Ideally set up for a nightcap, the white sofas beckon as a restful place to unwind. The broken-plan layout continues down a small set of stairs into the main kitchen, where a marble worktop island/breakfast bar and moody teak units form a delightful space to cook and feast. The kitchen opens onto a covered balcony and BBQ area, extending your casual dining space to make the most of Sydney’s remarkable weather. For a more refined setting to dine, you’ll find a sunken dining room, which gives a mid-century nod. Tucked into a concrete alcove and maximising space with built-in bench seating, the wooden table seats up to 8. For large groups or longer stays, you also have access to a self-contained annexe, comprising its own kitchen diner with Smeg appliances, a second sofa, and a piano, as well as finishing with a queen bedroom. This makes an ideal escape for grandparents, teens, or couples wanting a little more privacy.
Perfectly appointed bedrooms await as you head up to the second level of the home. Ascend the statement glass stairway to find the master bedroom, where a mirrored wall reflects the natural light streaming in from your private balcony, and a sumptuous king-sized bed lies opposite a wall-mounted TV. The second bedroom is ideal for remote work, with a designated office space offering expansive views and banquette seating, opening onto a sophisticated room with a queen bed and ample storage. Your final bedroom is a restful twin, opening onto a romantic balcony. An impressive five bathrooms are at your disposal, so you’ll have plenty of space regardless of group size. Luxury abounds throughout, with deep, freestanding bathtubs and double rainfall showers among the immaculately tiled interiors.
Paddington is known for its Victorian-era houses, boutique shops, and great links to the rest of Sydney, and this property doesn’t disappoint. You’re within walking distance of Oxford Street, a main thoroughfare lined with numerous shops, bars, and restaurants to explore, providing fantastic links to the CBD or Bondi Junction. At the end of Oxford Street is Centennial Park, well worth exploring with a picnic for a great day out among the beautiful botanicals. Of course, the coast isn’t far away, with Bondi, Tamarama, and Bronte all a short drive — take your pick!
