Stay in Buoux Cottage
Comfortable, clean, well supplied with kitchen and bathroom items, pleasant paintings and ornaments. Great for two couples. Well-located ten minutes from Apt shopping, with many villages close by suitable for day trips, yet very peaceful on top of the ridge in the oak forest. The owner was very helpful and pleasant.

Wundervolles altes Steinhaus in wildromantischer Gegend

As Charming as it appears
Lovely cottage with everything we (3 adults) needed. Quaint & quiet & comfortable & really clean. Pretty area. The owner was wonderful. Close drive to many beautiful country towns for all day touring. Passed several restaurants on the way back though we mainly had dinner & wine in the cottage.

Wonderful!
We've just returned from our fifth visit to this lovely cottage. Clearly, we just can't get enough. The gite is beautifully appointed in every aspect--bedrooms with fine linens, ensuite bathrooms with fine Provencal soaps, a well equipped kitchen. The layout is superb. The cottage's two bedrooms are at opposite ends of the beautiful building, assuring privacy. The owner, Betty, is just terrific. She makes restaurant reservations and offers suggestions about must-see villages. There are wonderful hikes right from the gite, a goat farm to explore in the valley below, and all manner of adventures nearby for walkers. The Luberon is mystical in its ancient beauty with hilltowns in both walking and a short driving distance. Just can't say enough about this amazing place.

Beautiful Stone Cottage in the Luberon
Loved this beautifully decorated stone cottage in a great location near Apt and Bonnieux - great ambience. Stayed 10 days - great opportunity to take in all the beauty of the Luberon. Spent most days touring the amazing villages in the area, a car is a must. Discovered an awesome artisanal bakery in Apt with mouthwatering breads straight from a real wood fired stone oven -- a real treat for us Californians! Favorite villages would be Gordes, L'Isle du la Sorgue and Rousillion but there are so many it is truly hard to have a favorite. We were there during the height of the lavender season (July) amazingly beautiful and fragrant experience! Cottage has everything you need including appropriate "bug spray" for the uninvited guests (insects summer brings!). Unfortunately for us, we were there during a heat wave but in general, possibly Spring or Fall would be better weather. Owners are very gracious hosts anxious to please - one is ex-pat American and her husband is French - makes it easy if you are English speaking. Beds are comfortable and everything was very clean. Very handy to have a washing machine during a 10 day stay. We ate lunch out in a different village every day. Breakfasts and light suppers at the cottage - worked very well. Apt provided easy access to food stores. We loved the use of stone for sinks, showers, etc - really beautiful. All in all a delightful experience. Highly recommend it!

Great Place - Great Stay!
We loved the Barrulaires Gite! It’s a meticulously restored stone farmhouse cottage atop a small mountain in the Luberon a few miles from Apt. The property features a lovely view, and the cottage itself has wonderful décor coupled with all the up-to-date conveniences one would hope for. The owner – the irrepressible Betty – greeted us in the driveway with a flashlight at 10:30 pm when we arrived very owing to an Air France strike. She provided sage advice throughout our stay as to local attractions, stores and farmers’ markets, restaurants, etc. Some might find the location a bit remote, but we enjoyed the solitude and privacy and did not mind the short drive into town for provisions or restaurants. Many of the major sites of the region are less than an hour’s drive. Apt itself is filled good restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, wine shops etc. It’s a lovely jog or walk from the gite down the mountain into the picturesque village of Buoux. Nearby Fort Buoux is definitely worth a half-day visit and the climb to the top is exhilarating. Our only problem was a bit of difficulty with intermittent internet service during our week in September, but we understand Betty has since fixed the problem. [She is a U.S. expatriate married to a Frenchman, and she used her bilingual abilities to help us with dinner reservations]. Too many great restaurants in the area to mention, but it’s hard to go wrong.

Highly Recommended
My family & I stayed here during the second week of September in 2013. We really enjoyed the comfortable accommodations. It is the quintessential Provence cottage. It is very well located, whether you like to hike, bike or drive. There are many villages close by and a week is too short if want to see it all. This is a wonderful place and Betty the landlord is very accommodating. We will go back for sure!

Maravilhoso! Wonderful! Merveilleux!

Amazing experience in Provence, perfect cottage
We took a girls' trip to Paris and then Provence and stayed at this gite. It was a wonderful experience. Old school charm with modern day conveniences. We cooked, had dinner on the patio, enjoyed being able to hop in the car and visit the towns (Gordes was our favorite and Bonnieux was a close second) went for runs in the morning, long walks in the evening. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a lovely nespresso machine. Wfi was great too. All the planning and coordination went smoothly, we had no complaints, the hosts were super helpful and friendly. You will need a car to stay anywhere in the Provence region. Make sure to check out the many market days in varying towns!

Exquisite Accommodations
My husband and I planned a 3 week excursion through Burgundy and Provence and when I searched for a stop in Provence for 1 week and discovered this unique and beautiful stone house, I knew that we had to stay in it. The pictures accurately reflected the rental's appearance and amenities and the property was clean and well maintained. It was tucked away above the pastoral hilltop village of Buoux and yet convenient for touring throughout the Luberon Valley. We took day trips and spent our time visiting beautiful/historic hilltop towns such as Bonnieux, La Coste, Roussillon, Gordes, St. Saturnin les Apt and Oppede-les-Poulivets. We hiked to Fort de Buoux and had our favorite meal at Bistro de la garde Apt. The views were breathtaking everywhere we drove. We would recommend this property to friends and family alike. It was truly a highlight of our trip.

Quiet retreat, authentic experience
We were fortunate to have 11 days at this wonderful gite in Buoux. The cottage is lovingly restored and very comfortable. The fall light enhanced the beautiful views from the property and the weather was perfect. Betty is the ideal "innkeeper"--friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to making the stay extraordinary. With Apt the nearest large town, and the "season" at an end, we could wander the villages (most of the time) without the teaming hordes that have come to plague Provence. Hiking from the property was wonderful. The Fort de Buoux--dating back to the bronze age is not to be missed. Betty's recommendation of Bistrot LeGarde De Apt turned out to be a wonderful surprise and the best meal (16 euros lunch) in Provence. The length of time afforded us the chance to shop with the locals and begin to get a feeling of what it would be like to live there -- at least in the warm season. We will be back to chart the progress of the restoration on the main house.

Nirvana in the Luberon
The owners, Betty & Jean-Yves were extraordinarily friendly, warm and helpful. Since their home is on the property they were always available if we needed advice or had a problem. Betty even made us cookies, brought apricots from a neighbor and left a new bottle of wine in the refrigerator for our arrival. The Gite is charming, practical and lovingly furnished, much of the interior made by its owners. The thick stone wall exterior kept out the summer heat. We were always comfortable and particularly enjoyed the attractive furnishings, privacy, and eating food from nearby local markets on the Gite's terrace. We would love to return and can recommend this property for 2 couples (of any age) or 1 couple with 1 or 2 children.
