Guest Access:
You will have the entire house and property to yourself. Only registered guests are allowed, unless specifically agreed upon during the booking process.
While we encourage taking walks on Shadow Mountain property and in the National Park, please do not wander into our neighbor's backyards in the surrounding area as you will be trespassing on private property.
Also note, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO USE OF OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES (OHV) IN THIS AREA.
The Neighborhood:
When going to Joshua Tree one couldn’t imagine a better location an ambiance. Shadow Mountain House is very private but not remote. You will feel like you have your own slice of solitude in Joshua Tree yet you are only a couple of miles from the JT downtown as well as Joshua Tree National Park. During the day, you can explore nature in your own backyard, and at night, the stargazing can’t be beat.
Looking for things to do or great places to eat? Here are a few nearby favorites within a 10-minute drive:
• Wake up and head to Joshua Tree Coffee Co., known for their famed coffee made from locally roasted beans
• Admire the art at the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum
• Savor some southwestern brunch classics at Country Kitchen
• Find the perfect Joshua Tree souvenir at Coyote Corner
• Wind down with a drink and some live music at the rustic Joshua Tree Saloon
Up for a day trip? Don’t miss these area highlights - they’re worth the drive.
• The Integratron (15-minute drive) - New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process.

Getting Around:
This is a remote location down dirt roads, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain.
Other Things to Note:
• EVENTS & COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOTS: Are not permitted without prior approval, applicable permit and additional fees.
• DOGS: Your dog is welcome and there is a one time fee of $100. Please alert us in advance. Max of 2 dogs. No other types of animals are authorized.
• SOCIAL MEDIA: If you plan on sharing your experience on social media, please mention us!
• CELL SERVICE: Cell phone service availability and quality in the high desert varies by service provider. This is particularly true in the more remote areas of Joshua Tree, Pipes Canyon, and Pioneertown. Please be prepared by enabling wifi calling or downloading a VOIP program.
