About this property

Tranquil bush paradise retreat, architecturally designed for tropics with pool

The Hideaway Bush Retreat is the perfect place to hideaway, getaway, disconnect and reconnect. Situated on 4000sqm, this architecturally designed home with cathedral ceilings and air-conditioned bedrooms will be your retreat from life. A short 15-minute ferry ride from Cullen Bay or an easy 1.5-hour drive from Darwin City, which takes you through Berry Springs and along the outer border of our famous Litchfield National Park.

The Hideaway is a retreat, a retreat from hustle and bustle, where you can relax in the hammock in the breezeway or sit by the plunge pool and watch the beautiful native animals. You might be lucky enough to see Curlews, Kookaburras, Parrots, Rosellas, Wallabies, Bush Chooks and Kangaroos.

The Hideaway has no Wi-Fi or television (you can of course BYO your own device) but instead has a yoga mat and bolster, pool equipment to exercise, beautiful paths to meander through the garden and is located 800 m from the beautiful beach. We have heaps of board and card games as well as an extensive library where you can choose your next novel to escape with.
In the Wet Season, laze in bed in the air-conditioning and listen to the sound of the rain on the tin roof. Sit in the breezeway, with the fans on and admire the beautiful, green lush gardens. In the Dry, host a dinner around the pool, a BBQ lunch around the outdoor setting off the breezeway or just chill in the hammock.

There are two air-conditioned bedrooms. The master has a queen bed, bedsides with lamps and a storage area. From this room you have two lovely views, one of purple bougainvillea and the other of the native bush. The second has two single beds. There is a futon in the main entry which can be used as well. Should you need a cot, this can be supplied as well.

The Cox Country Club is open Thursday - Sunday for dinner and drinks. You are guaranteed to find a colourful local to chat with or you can sit under the fans, enjoy the atmosphere and a few drinks. There is a children's play area, they often host markets and often have live entertainment.

Superb

Beautifully designed premises that allow you to enjoy the best of top end weather - louvre windows in the kitchen and an open air covered dining room - while still getting air con for the sleeping quarters. Lovely bush gardens and we spotted curlews and blue winged kookaburras. The pool was beautifully clean.Very welcoming, and we hope to be back.

Outreach staycation

We recently stayed at Wagait Beach Resort for an outreach trip, and it was an unforgettable experience. The resort was serene and peaceful, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life in Darwin City. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the kitchen was fully equipped with all the necessary utensils, making our stay incredibly convenient. We also met the owner, Nicole. She was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We had the best sleep we've had in a long time, thanks to the air-conditioned rooms and comfy beds.We look forward to staying at Wagait Beach Resort again in the future. Highly recommended!

About the host

Came to Darwin not thinking we would stay. Sold up in Sydney and bought here in Wagait Beach. We are never leaving! This is the most magical place on earth!

Why they chose this property

Serendipity! We used to camp here and one day we went for a drive, saw this house and said, lets live here one day. Fast forward to 2024, we had a friend stay and we took her to Litchfield. On the way back to The Noonamah Hotel I pointed to the turn off to Wagait Beach and said this is our favourite spot in The Territory. Friend asked how much houses were, I said no idea. We opened realestate.com at the pub and the place you are staying in was the first house to feature...... and I said, we are buying this. The rest is history!

What makes this property unique

So close to the beach, however nestled in bushland with the most beautiful native wildlife.
