About this property

This beautiful little cottage is perched on the edge of the Nehalem River just minutes from the ocean. When it's stormy at the coast this location is protected. The expansive deck and windows provide an excellent view of the river and a variety of wildlife including elk, bald eagles, heron, sea lions and of course fishermen. We recently enclosed the front porch providing an additional seating area overlooking the river.

The unit is located in a quiet clean RV park (Nehalem Shores), the pace is slow and the locals are friendly. Enjoy fantastic fishing or kayaking on the river, shopping nearby antique shops, wine tasting or kite flying...beach combing...horse back riding...surfing...Manzanita Beach.

You'll love the comfortable cozy feel of this cottage rain or shine. Laundry services and high speed wi-fi are available. The cottage is just a short drive from Portland but well away from the busy tourist hubbub. A fantastic weekend or vacation getaway spot.

Beautiful river and mountain view.

The view was so revitalizing and calming at the same time. The mornings were quiet and misty and the afternoons were sunny. Really nice deck. Well appointed cottage done in good taste. The bald eagle family were good entertainment.

Nice little stay!

Charming little home on the river was a lovely stay for the weekend. The river has a stronger current than expected for us novice kayakers but still fun. Only minor issue was fidgeting with the key lock for check in. The need was super comfy, and shower had great heat and water pressure!

My wife and I had a delightful stay at this property. The house was clean, neighbors were all friendly, and the views of the river are definitely a highlight. A great place to stay for a little getaway to the coast.

Peaceful, Scenic...Excellent

Perfect size for two people that need a base for local exploring the coast. Spent our mornings and evenings on the great deck, looking at the peaceful river, eagles, kayakers and beautiful green landscape. Everyone is very friendly. Very quiet. Responsive communications with host. Highly recommend. Would always stay here.

Great place to stay!

Overall very clean and nice place with lots of storage. Had a propane fireplace on porch but no propane tank for it. Also grill tank was empty on arrival. Had plentiful linens, blankets, towels and kitchen supplies. Had an issues with ants on arrival. Host and property manager were quick to resolve and do what they could to fix the issue.

Wonderful home and view!

We thouroughtly enjoyed our 4 night stay! The view was magnificient including the new window installed in the bedroom ! Place was clean, well equiped and very homey. It was quiet and others staying in park were very friendly. We would stay here again!

Perfect little cabin

The listing didnt do it justice. The view of the river was incredible. The place was quiet and clean. Just enough space for 2. We were only a 30 minute drive from many of the coastal towns and were able to explore the area. I will definitely be booking again for the next trip. Just try to get there in the daylight, finding the turn to get in was a little hard in the dark.

Favorite Vacation Getaway

This Nehalem home has always been our favorite place to stay. Always clean with every thing we need. The property manager and other neighbors are really friendly. On the river, close to other towns and the ocean, for little excursions. The perfect getaway!

Cozy Cottage with a River View, Inviting Community

We loved staying at this lovely, cozy cottage literally right on the river. Very clean and comfortable. The neighbors were so welcoming, and suggested Wanda's Cafe and Bakery in Nehalem, which is a delightful must-do. (Get there early if you want to snag any of the freshly baked breads to take home.) You will enjoy the indoor and outdoor amenities, which for us included two seals fishing and munching on their catch right in front of the cottage.

A Beautiful Respite

I stayed at River’s Edge for a month, and I was made to feel welcome and as if I were staying in my own home. A beautiful time on the river, which allowed me a much needed time to re-energize and regroup. Loved it.

Perfect Little Getaway

The pictures of the cottage are accurate except for the view pictures. The view is even better when you see it in person. You are literally right on the river with little fishing boats and tons of wildlife to watch and even a herd of elk across the river at nightfall. The pictures of the cottage are exactly as you see. It is so cozy and very clean and so comfortable for a relaxing vacation. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything that you would need and the bed is so comfy. It was so lovely sitting on the back porch with a glass of wine in the evening staring at all the beautiful scenery and nice to have a covered area on the porch if it is raining. The neighbors in the park are so friendly especially Peggy the manager of the park. The owners are great and always available if you need them for something. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. It is only a short drive to Cannon Beach, Seaside, Tillamook and other little towns on the coast but a much quieter place than the more touristy places to stay. We will definately be returning to this lovely little cottage.

Weekend getaway

So lovely by the river. Heron, kingfisher across the way, jumping salmon out of the river, and an eagle perched atop of the pine tree just over the cabin. Hummingbirds zipping by and flickers calling out. So beautiful at night with the moon shining over the river and the stars bright overhead. The deck was perfect to take it all in. The cabin is roomy enough for two and has all the necessities of home. Very clean. We would definitely stay again. Very close to Nehalem and Manzanita. The Nehalem state park is a must see. Downtown shops at Manzanita are lovely. Close to Cannon Beach.

Great location, amenities need work

The TV did not work, the gas grill was covered in cobwebs and would not light. The queen bed was great, however the hide a bed very uncomfortable. The river location is awesome. The owners could change some furniture and cozy it up for a more enjoyable stay.

Wonderful little Cabin on the River

Darling little cabin right on the Nehalem river. Saw many Salmon fishermen trolling up and down and several large fish caught. The cabin has every built- in you could imagine except for a dishwasher. I've never been to a rental with more closet space and all the hangers you could possibly use. Because of illness we unfortunately had to leave a day early. Highly recommend this charming little getaway.

4th time here - - - hope to return again!

We've stayed four times now and love it. Management is great. Space is small but perfect for my husband, our 14# Lhasa and myself. Great Blue Herons, Eagles Nest across the river, tide moving in and out. Already can't wait to return. Book now! You won't be disappointed!

June stay in Nehalem

Great property, I’d consider it a tiny house community. We enjoyed starting and ending day on the deck. Close to all the major beaches, trails, hikes, cities. The food and people in Nehalem and Manzanita are great. The neighbor brought us fresh flowers in a vase when we arrived, I slept on the pull out sofa and my daughter on the bed and everything was great. Thank you for sharing your space.

Secluded Nature

My wife and I came here for for an anniversary getaway. It was the most beautiful location for a vacation rental I’ve ever been to. If you appreciate nature and a quiet escape you won’t be disappointed. There are also an abundance of spectacular hikes within a 20 minute drive that go through rain forest and look out over sea stacks, beaches, and ocean. Hope to come back here someday.

We live in Bend, Oregon but dearly love the Oregon Coast and are so thankful to have many good memories with family and friends at the coast. We also enjoy knowing our cottage helps others enjoy the coast and river as well.

Why they chose this property

Living in Bend in the high desert is lovely but the richness of the flora and fauna of the Oregon Coast is a great contrast. We like the small slower pace of the North Coast. Everyone we've met here is very friendly and has a funny story to tell. It's an ideal place to get rejuvenated.

What makes this property unique

We love watching the eagles who nest in a tree across the river from our cottage and of course the herd of elk we often see grazing in the morning and evening. It's also fun to keep an eye out for river otters or sea lions and of course watching the fishermen reel in some big fish is entertaining.
