Our "sweet" time away!

What a nice, quiet & relaxing weekend we had staying in your lovely home! We felt so fortunate to be able to return to Highland county for the Maple Festival this year and returning to your house after our busy days was delightful. There was so much to experience in this gem of a county! We visited the Gorge and the various craft shows, ate yummy pancakes, and of course, visited several sugar camps. I think we tried just about everything maple there was available to try! Saturday night was totally clear and with no light pollution to speak of, we could see STARS! That was amazing - I could actually see the Milky Way and for the first time in my life, I saw a shooting star. The deck/porch area was the perfect place for viewing! I hope to be able to return. Thank you so much for sharing your home!

Wonderful Weekend!!

What a lovely home! The area is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. This home is exactly as shown in the pictures, but even more charming! We loved sitting by the fire at night. During the morning, we watched the birds at the feeder. There were so many beautiful birds. Steve was so kind, and made sure everything was perfect for us. We will definitely come back!

Quiet Memorial Day Weekend

What a beautiful little cabin in the woods. We were needing a quiet weekend just for the two of us and we definitely got that and more staying at Steve's place. There was even cows in the hill behind the house that we got to say hi to! Love the windows in the house, so much fresh air and sunlight all over! Would definitely stay again!

Perfect Getaway

Quiet. Serene. Beautiful chalet. You can tell Steve really cares about his guests. We went for our wedding anniversary and there was a gift waiting for us when we arrived. Little touches. We love Highland County. Star gazing was memorable and spent a lot of time enjoying the property. Will be back for sure!

Outdoor Fun!

The property and setting were great. We were between the Monongahela and GW National parks. Hiked Seneca Rocks and went to the Greenbank Observatory on day one. On day Two we hiked a few trails in the GW National forest. Each night we enjoyed the fire pit and the beautiful house. Beds are very comfortable!!

Beautiful Cabin in the Highlands

Steve's property was amazing, and this was the best short term rental that we've ever stayed at. The views were beautiful from the cabin and they had it stocked with everything we needed. If you are looking for a remote getaway, this is your place. We will definately be back!

Amazing Host

Steve is an amazing host. Check in and out was super easy. He answered all questions quickly. The home was super clean. He even sent us an anniversary gift. The home is amazing and the views are beautiful. If peace and quiet (and beautiful mountains) is what you're after, you won't be disappointed.

Hummingbird Show

We were extremely pleased with our stay in Monterey! The remoteness of the location was the exact peace & quiet we were looking for in a long weekend getaway. The kitchen was stocked well with housewares and the grill came in handy. We thoroughly enjoyed the front deck to watch the hummingbirds feed and flit around the yard! They were fun to watch! The owner was very prompt with any questions and an unexpected matter with the neighboring farm. We would have no problems staying here again. Thanks, Steve!

Great mountain getaway

My Sons and I stayed here and found the place very comfortable and homey. The area is very peaceful and serene. The house has big windows that you can open and get a lot of fresh air in the house. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and pans. The house has everything you need for a great mountain getaway. There are a lot of antiques and some breakable items, so not the best choice if you have small children who have trouble around such items. Overall the house feels like you are staying in a friend's vacation home. It is very welcoming and comfortable. We will be back.

Beautiful place to get away from it all

We were looking for a respite from the stress of DC during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the property was perfect. The photos and description are spot-on, and we felt as though we were staying at the home of good friends, sans the friends. We grilled dinner every night on the deck, and additional unexpected bonuses were the jetted soaking tub and fresh blueberries from bushes in the backyard. The house was stocked with many kitchen basics, but it is remote, so bring groceries with you or plan for a 32-mile drive to the closest full-service supermarket in Warm Springs, Virginia. (We did buy delicious baked goods at an Amish bakery and deli we passed on the way from the closest town of Monterey.) Golfers may want to make a day trip to the professional-caliber course at the historic Omni Homestead resort about an hour away.
