The house was nice, but could have used a cleaning before we arrived. Previously occupied a month before. House hold supplies were in short supply.....toilet paper, garbage bags, dishwasher soap, etc. Driveway was very steep and we could not make it up with a four wheel drive truck. It would be fine in the non winter months. The owners were quick to respond to our request to have the driveway plowed @ twice.
Our stay was great. Huge lot/pasture for the dogs to run around and play. No one was around. Very private. The driveway needed to be plowed upon arrival but the host communicated well.
Bones and structure of cabin has a lot of potential if it was kept maintained. From the wobbling railing on the deck, mini split a/c unit stuffed full of dust and dead bugs that didn't work, dirty bedding with stains, and stains on the rippling carpet that is a trip hazard. Description of property states apple tv which is the only TV, does not have a remote. When asked, Host said it was there somewhere. They said the haven't had this problem but at least two reviews said they also couldn't find the remote. Toilet seat in the upstairs bathroom is broken on one side. Went to use the blow dryer and it was broken. Went to unplug the broken dryer and outlet came out of wall. Went to lock the door before bed on the first night and it was so loose that it wouldn't lock. My husband found a screw driver in the closet and fixed it, as well as burnt out lights on porch and in the refrigerator. This was our 20th Anniversary trip that we had to save for, and ultimately left property a day early and had the added cost of a hotel room for each couple.
Great location to enjoy Star Valley. Great hikes and floating the Salt River. Could use some KC and updates. Worked well for our family of 7 adults and 3 children. Comfortable.
We used this place while our friends were in town and our home was under construction. It was the perfect amount of space and the house had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful family cabin in the perfect location. Amazing mountain views all around. Was able to work remotely with no issues. Only thing I would make sure to note is that you must have 4-Wheel drive to access cabin as the drive up to the cabin is quite steep and rocky. Only issue we had was that were not able to find the apple remote. Really enjoyed our stay and felt right at home.
The house was beautiful. The view was fabulous. Everything went smoothly.
Only 2 issues: several lights burned out, needed new bulbs.
Couldn't find Apple Remote.
We chose location due to proximity to national parks. The house has way more beds than we needed and was well stocked with kitchen appliances and equipment, which isn't normal these days. Host was very responsive and supportive. The only down side was their guest book was full, congrats on over sharing your place for so many years with so many wonderful comments.
Ideal location and splendid views, and the coziness of the accommodations made us feel a part of the Barber family. Many thanks for opening your mountain home to us!
Private log cabin cabin surrounded by an aspen grove, about 15 minutes from Alpine, and close to Thayne. This is a good location for fishing/floating the Salt River, with room for a raft/drift boat trailer. The cabin could perhaps use a bit of updating, but most of our group didn't care.
Cabin was exactly as described! The views were even more spectacular than we imagined. Great, easy commute to TONS of activities. Check in and out process was very simple. Overall, the best experience we could have asked for. Will definitely be staying here in the future.
My family and I stayed here May 2022. It was just as it looked online. We had a wonderful time and there was plenty of room for our family of 7 to spread out! Easy check in and out process! There were deer in the yard every day.

The property was beautiful! When we arrived, the doors were wide open. We were concerned. We never figured out why they were not shut. Two families stayed together. We both arrived within 10 minutes of each other late Saturday evening around 10:30pm. We talked and visited for a few hours and then everyone went to bed. After laying down, my sister-in-law texted asking if I was still awake to come to the main level bathroom. She asked me if the bug she had on a paper towel looked like a bedbug. I had worked as a community resource advocate in the school system, so I have seen several bedbugs, and it definitely was a bedbug. I instantly took all of my belongings to the vehicle. She, trying to have to best outlook, suggested maybe it was just one and somehow it got there, but we'd be okay. With my reservations, I went along with it to not seem too picky. The next morning, one teen that slept in a loft bed was making her bed and found a second bug. When we got it in a bag and identified it as a second bedbug, she asked of the bumps on her forehead looked like a bedbug bite, and indeed they were 3 in a row.
The owner worked with us and did everything she could. Our problem lies with greedy VRBO. You guys refused to refund our money stating that 2 bedbugs were not enough to give us our money back. The owner instructed us to contact you 1st so we could get the entire refund or else VRBO would keep their portion....which is exactly what happened. The owner gave her entire amount back and greedy VRBO refused. We were told there had to be more pics than 2 bedbugs. Uhhh okay!!! I am certain that if there were 2 bedbugs, there were more.
We had such a great week staying here. Plenty of sleeping, all the basics and details provided (pots, pans, plates, etc) central location to so many activities. Access to the cabin was easy. We loved spending the evenings on the balcony talking in the view and fresh air. Amazingly thankful for the experience we had staying here!
This was a great place and loved the quiet setting for coffee on the porch in the morning.
This was a beautiful cabin with plenty of room for our 4 couples.

Great family vacation
The cabin was perfect for our needs. Location is nice and everything was clean and as advertised. Kitchen was fully stocked and there were lots of games and movies the kids enjoyed. Check-in process was a little rough and could be better but it all worked out in the end. Thanks for sharing your family cabin with us.
My husband and I reserved Mika’s family cabin for a family vacation with some of his siblings and a few of their children. We came to the area to see the Bar J Wranglers perform just outside of Jackson Hole(about an hour away). We stayed three nights and loved to see deer wander on and off of the property. The kitchen and shaded porch were perfect for cooking and eating meals. We enjoyed the nice grill for one meal. We loved the hike up to a spring just outside of Afton and ice cream at the Country Farm a little ways further. Our cabin was perfectly located between Jackson Hole and Afton. We loved the convenience of grocery stores and gas stations in either direction that were not too far away, but still enjoyed the seclusion of pine and aspen trees. Thank you, Mika, for sharing your wonderful cabin with us.
Very satisfied. Property beautiful, as advertised or better. Host pleasant and very responsive. Road construction in summer 2021 made ride up to Tetons 75 mins instead of 45. The drive is scenic.
If you need to talk to Mika, send a text first.
Also, recommend the host include specific directions to find the property starting from highway 89. It’s simple once you know, but tricky if you don’t. We had a great time biking and rafting. Highly recommend this property as a quiet place to stay within easy drive to TNP at a great price.
Excellent place for a vacation! Beautiful area, cabin is perfectly located for all outdoor activitie
Excellent. Hope to stay again soon

About the host
Hosted by Mika Barber
This is our cherished family cabin that our grandparents built in 1995. Now, my dad, my brother and I own it. We use it often for our families as we love to ski at Jackson Hole Resort, we love to river raft the Snake River, and we love to spend cozy time inside in the winter while the kids sled in the driveway or nearby hills.
Why they chose this property
This is the perfect serene getaway. Star Valley is a low-key mountain getaway. There's pleny of outdoor entertainment anytime of year and the scenery couldn't be more stunning no matter the season.
