About the host
Hosted by Mary-Anna

This property has been in the family for 4 generations. We have been developing its natural attractions around the reclaimed gravel pit for the past 30 years. We are retired teachers. During our career we spent weekends and summers creating trails in our oak forest, planting trees and native grasses, landscaping, building structures and creating sitting areas. We also have done a lot of traveling over the years. We are returning the hospitality that we received in the 30+ countries that we have traveled to, to our guest on our property. We are honored if our guests rejuvenate and find rest in our natural setting. We offer a get-away that is close to Winnipeg (40 minutes) and 8 minutes away from Steinbach, which can provide all shopping or restaurant amenities needed for a comfortable stay away from home.
Why they chose this property
Our private lake is situated on the western side of the farming and residential community of Blumenort. Even though the property is along Hwy 311, its location is hidden from public view. Once you have arrived at the cottage, you are greeted by a 25 acre marle lake view that is very unlike the farmland that surrounds our 120 acres. Over the last 35 years we have planted 1000s of trees and created spaces to enjoy the natural settings and wildlife that frequents the area. Close to amenities but removed enough to take a break from busy life.
We live on the property and are available for any assistance or questions our guests may have.

What makes this property unique
Guests have often repeated this description of the property... "A Hidden Gem!" "An unexpected get-away so close to Winnipeg!"
The property’s 120 acres includes an active gravel depot. The guest cabin is on the opposite side, across the water. The sounds of gravel production activity can vary from day to day on weekdays, with vehicular movement and equipment usage. Weekends are typically very quiet.
