About this property
Garden Heritage-Award-Winning Downtown Duplex; Pet-friendly, walkable
Winner of 2002 Mayor's Award for Heritage Renovation, beautiful, bright duplex combines old-world charm & modern convenience. Sunny ground-floor garden apartment w/high ceilings. This unit can be combined with Heritage Award Winning Downtown Riverview Duplex, the upstairs unit, as the locked door connecting the two apartments can be opened if you rent both. You would then have a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house with two full kitchens, two decks and a separate living room. PEI Tourism License #2203134
The space
Original wide pine floors in living room and bedroom, tile in bathroom, linoleum in kitchen. Recently purchased stove, fridge. Refinished clawfoot tub. Direct access to landscaped yard, garden and deck. Privacy - just one other unit in house, which may or may not have a guest. There is a locked laundry room which is shared with the guest in the upstairs apartment. If you are self-isolating, we will create a schedule for the laundry room to be cleaned and sanitized before and after each guest, to maintain quarantine rules.
Other things to note
We do have two cats, Björn and Mochi, who move out with us when we rent to guests. We do vacuum, mop and clean upholstery when we get ready to host, however, we want those with severe allergies to be aware of this.

About the host
Hosted by Amanda Anne Mark

I am a High School Band and English teacher for the Halifax Regional School Board. I play flute, saxophone, clarinet and electric bass in classical, Celtic, world and jazz styles. My two children are also musicians: Shannon plays the piano and clarinet, and is a dancer, and Declan plays the guitar and trumpet, as well as basketball. I'm a member of the 36 Canadian Brigade Group Military Band, PEI Symphony, Tuesday Night Big Band and Glass Winds (Nova Scotia Women's Wind Ensemble). In recent years was co-producer of Ebb & Flow: Tides of Settlement on PEI (Historical and Cultural Multi-Media Show), played with I and the Village (world), and Ireland Meets Scotland (Celtic). I feel very fortunate to be able to spend several months each year on PEI playing music, enjoying the natural beauty and community of the Island, as well as exploring the many cultural and outdoor attractions of the Dartmouth/ Halifax area. I love to get lots of exercise biking, walking in the city or on the trails, yoga and dancing. I've enjoyed traveling internationally in the past and hope there will be more in my future! I'm proud to be a 5-time Superhost, and I hope you enjoy staying at my house:)
Why they chose this property
I love how Fitzroy Street is close to everything, but also peaceful. There are many historic homes and a really interesting streetscape.
What makes this property unique
I bought the place when I was starting a new, intensely creative chapter in my life. My friend, Paul Coles, who is an award-winning historical renovation expert, helped me to plan and carry out the renovation. We won an award for the house, and I have enjoyed many years living there, full- and part-time, playing music with friends and family.
