About this property
Sandwalk - Big, bold and beachfront
Welcome to our stunning 7-bedroom beachfront home (with a mix of king, queen and single beds) designed to accommodate up to 17 guests in comfort and style. Perfect for large families, groups of friends, or special celebrations, this spacious retreat offers breathtaking ocean views, multiple relaxation spaces indoors and out, and plenty of room to unwind and reconnect with loved ones.
This beachfront home is a 5-minute walk to Paraparaumu Beach shops, cafes, restaurants, playgrounds/skate park. It has loads of character and is BIG. It has everything you could imagine you'd need. Even if the weather is not so good, it is cosy and spacious, with amazing ocean views.
Paraparaumu Beach, situated 50km north of the Capital City of New Zealand (Wellington), has a village feel. It is home to the internationally recognised Paraparaumu Links Gold Course, and is the launching point for Kapiti Island, a wildlife sanctuary, which is 5 kilometres offshore (in front of our beachfront house). The home has a private track through the sand dunes to the beach, which is suitable for swimming, and wonderful for long walks.
I've lived in Paraparaumu Beach for 25 years, and adore being by the beach. Being west-facing, the sunsets from my own home nearby, and from the property you'll stay in, are spectacular. Best enjoyed in a comfy deckchair gazing over the sand dunes, which are literally on the doorstep. Almost every day, I walk on the beach, cycle along the coast or up into the hills, swim in the sea in summer or the nearby aquatic centre in winter, and enjoy yoga with the ocean sound as a backdrop. MAGIC!
The beauty of Paraparaumu is that everything is on your doorstep. Great shopping, dozens of restaurants, several golf courses (including Paraparaumu Links, which is rated in the Top 100 in the world and is 5 minutes walk away!), the Kapiti Airport, which is 5 minutes away and there's an expressway all the way to Wellington - a 35-minute drive - and not are beyond that to Wellington International Airport.
Paraparaumu Beach is....beachy! There's loads of shops in the nearby village (5 minutes walk away) with quirky shops, great food including gelato and the famous Ben's Buns and loads of restaurants and bars. Every Saturday morning, there's a craft, plant food and vegetable market in the village (the street is closed), with live music and yummy food stalls. There's a large kids playground and brand spanking new world-class skate park by the village - again, just five minutes away.
This is the gateway for day trips to the famous wildlife sanctuary, Kapiti Island, which is 5km offshore, right in front of the house. The boats leave around 9am each morning (bookings essential). Being flat, it's a brilliant location for cycling, beach walks or meandering along the many kilometres of bike and walking trails. It's a really laid-back family environment - ideal as a place to get away and let time slow down!
I can provide bicycles to explore the area, including kids bikes..

About the host
Hosted by David Cunningham

I live nearby, as does my co-host Nalene. I’ve always wanted to live beachfront, and the opportunity came up to purchase Sandwalk. I love providing a venue for large groups, or small, to create memories. Most times it’s several friends or families getting together for a special occassion.
Why they chose this property
Sandwalk is absolute beachfront with a private track through the sand dunes to the beach. The area is, well, beachy, with loads of cafes, restaurants, kids playgrounds and a Saturday market. Everything is within 5 to 10 minuteswalking distance!
What makes this property unique
The home is HUGE. Even big groups find they have loads of space. Being west-facing, the sunsets are amazing.
