About this property
Henley Gardens - your green oasis in Niagara within walking distance to Beach
Relax in our spacious basement apartment with separate entrance, private parking spot, full kitchen and bath, king size bed and large living/dining room with TV, free Netflix-access and free WiFi. Includes a small office space. Heated and air-conditioned, newly renovated and updated, with view of our spacious backyard. A green oasis on a quiet street, yet close to the highway and shopping malls. Tim Hortons Coffee shop down the street, plus many more restaurants and coffee shops on adjacent Ontario Street.
Within walking distance to vibrant Port Dalhousie, yacht club, sandy beach, old-fashioned carousel (still only 5 cents a ride), restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlors and walking pier. From here, you can watch the sun set over Lake Ontario or marvel at the Toronto skyline, perfectly visible on a clear day. The famous Royal Henley Rowing Club is also located here, which featured the World Rowing Championships last year. Did you know that St. Catharines is the world capital for Rowing? Kayaks can be rented here for your enjoyment as well plus boat rides across the lake to Toronto, Ontario's capital. Another vibrant, multicultural hot spot for you to visit (about 60 to 90 minutes drive from here).
From your apartment, it is only a 20 minute drive to nearby Niagara Falls with all its attractions or to quaint, pretty Niagara-on-the-Lake within Niagara's wine country, where wineries (and micro breweries!) abound plus many restaurants and historic sites, for example Fort George and the famous Prince of Wales Hotel. Lots to explore and enjoy while you're here!
We are expecting you and looking forward to welcoming you here soon :)

About the host
Hosted by Cristina

Hi, I'm your host, Cristina. I was born in Brazil, grew up in Germany and then emigrated to Canada in 1993. My husband Carl and I have built and been living on this property ever since. We raised our two, now grown children, Tim and Janine, here in Niagara and are very excited expectant first-time-grandparents (late May 2025)! I have always enjoyed being a housewife and raising my children, although I have also worked part-time for many years in the family business. Now that I am retired, I enjoy being at home and making our place a home for family and friends even more. That is one reason why I enjoy being a host on Vrbo. I enjoy meeting and accommodating people from all over the world, getting to know them and sharing our beautiful home, neighbourhood and Niagara area with them. My husband and I like to travel and explore the world ourselves and we also like to stay with other hosts on Vrbo, Airbnb etc. It's a great community to be part of and to share, experience and support. I also enjoy long walks, reading suspenseful psychological thrillers that keep you guessing (I do like watching those on TV/Netflix as well), colouring and Sudoku puzzles.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property those 30+ years ago because of its location on a quiet side street with a big, green backyard you cannot find anymore these days, at least not in a city. Our property still gives you that "country feeling", even though we are located centrally and close to the highway (QEW). Due to our location in the North End of St. Catharines, we are within a 30 min. walk to Old Port Dalhousie and Lakeside Beach (yes, that Lake Side Beach the Canadian band "Rush" sang about!). Shopping malls and cafes and restaurants abound in our neighbourhood and famous Niagara Falls and picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake are only a 20 min. drive away by quickly hopping onto the nearby QEW. For your convenience, we even have a Tim Hortons Coffee Shop right down the street ;)
What makes this property unique
The big backyard, very rare in city settings
